I got the 82V Victa mower cordless 18 inch a few days ago. I cannot get the fully charged 2Ah battery to "click" into the battery recess. I have been pushing it firmly but the battery latch on top just will not click and hence I cannot start the mower. The battery fits into the charger all right. Any tips or ideas?

Hi Ken
What a frustrating problem.
I have never had it. When putting the battery in, the last little bit requires a bit of pressure until the grey button clicks and holds the battery in.
When taking the battery out, the grey button requires considerable amount of downward pressure to release the battery - it seems to be getting less with time.
That's about all I can contribute other than take it back

How long does the 2.0ahr battery last for?
I am very interested in this mower after our new 190cc ryobi shut itself before christmas and am looking at getting one as a replacement but the only model supplied at our bunnings here in NZ only comes with one battery.
It normally takes me 30-40 mins to mow our lawns.

Does anyone have troubles with this dropping grass out the side and not going in the catcher? It seems to drop grass and you have to go over I multiple times to pick it up again.

Sorry Wally - I don't use the catcher so can't answer the question for the moment!

I haven't had a problem with just leaving the clippings on the ground for mulching purposes, not that I notice much in the way of clippings in any case...... I like the mower that much I'm out every few days to mow what I need to, so clippings aren't are problem - call me mad if you want - but it only takes me a few minutes to do what I bought it for.
I use it to manage a small area around our house which isn't suitable to get around with the bigger petrol mower we have, which is reserved for a much larger area.

I'll use the catcher next time I mow in a day or two - and see if I get the same problem as yourself. It wouldn't surprise me if what you say is true and there is a fault with the catcher picking up clippings - it does appear to be a little flimsy and I suspect it needs to be because of weight issues.

These days however - I always expect to find a glitch somewhere in the things I purchase - particularly if it's made in China!

Just a thought Wally.....I assume you've removed the mulching plug from the exit chute. If you haven't, you need to do this before you attach the catcher itself.

Thanks all. Yes removed mulch plug and it's dropping quite bad. I can't tell if it's a fault with mine specifically or design.

Just bought one 18" with 1 x 8w V 2Ah battery from bunnings. Assembled it and inserted the fully charged battery, turn it on and the engine run quitely compared to a petrol mower. But, when I took out the fully charged battery for keeping, because I have to mow the front lawn on weekend, I can't pull out the battery. I read again the owner's manual " Removing Battery" - release bail to stop product.remove key.press and hold battery latch button at the bottom of the battery and slide outward to remove it. I can't find any battery latch button at the bottom of the battery. Tried to slide it out, but can't take it out. Can someone please help my problem? Thanks.

Thanks for all your answers and it's right, not at the bottom of the battery as indicated in the owner's manual. It's on top side of the battery where there's a release latch built in with the charger. I eventually figured it out later after I posted my query. Thanks again. Cheers.

Will they discontinue this heap of junk like they did the 80v? Not worth taking a chance. After my experience with the 80v I would be staying far away from this one.

Not a representative of Victa or any of the many other companies that discontinue products so I can't really answer that question. The risks of being an early adopter I suppose. This is not the same machine so I am not sure how you can qualify it as a heap of junk without putting it to the test, which I have. It far exceeds my expectations for a Lithium powered mower, blower and line trimmer. Victa wouldn't be backing it with a 5 year warranty if it was junk.

rly. srs. you better stay away or it will cost you your life, belongings and those who you hold dear.

The Victa 82V Lithium-Ion range, powered by Briggs & Stratton, is here to stay. The range is backed by a 5 Year Warranty.
