Amazing, easy to start, easy to use
Mowing the lawn is certainly not my favourite chore, and fighting with a pull start mower is too traumatic. Got the Ryobi battery one after my brother raved about them, and was sceptical. Have a huge yard, flat thankfully, and didn't expect a battery mower to be able to cope.
It starts so easily, no more pulling my shoulder out of my socket and it is light and very easy to move about. I had finished half the front yard in the time it took me to normally get my petrol one started. Initially it took a little getting used to having to hold the ha...Read more
ndles while you push, but I don't even think about it any more. i It has full power until the battery drains, and I can get my whole yard (1000 square metre block) on one charge, if the grass isn't terribly high. Cuts like a champion and with 5 settings, there are lots of choice height. I use the highest setting, and the differential between settings is quite large, so if I go down to 4, can see a huge difference. The mower is marginally less noisy than my petrol one, but there is no worry about spark plugs, mixing fuel properly etc. It folds up for storage nicely and is light enough for me to lug around without straining anything. There is only one thing I am not so keen on. The catcher. It is VERY tricky to get the thing on initially. It is easy enough to see how it works, and if you get it just so it is fine. However if you are off by even a millimetre, and it is hard to get it on the angle you are forced to use, it can be a bit of a struggle. I have found that this newer model is a big improvement on my brothers older model (about 18 months ago) and I can get this on with much less of a fight and now I have got the hang of it, can usually do it on the first go.Purchased in March 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for $599.00.

Broke after two uses
Mowed the same way as the first time. Suddenly died while i was mowing long grass on 5th setting for the second time since purchase. Checked blades and everything, seems to be engine or battery, not sure which.

Useless
Absolutely gutless, dies on anything longer than bowli g green length. Leaves clumps of grass everywhere and dont even try to mow wet grass. Ok if you mow twice a week on dry bowling green length. Is quite light to use which is why I purchased it.

Works really well!
Light weight, easy to use, works incredibly well. Battery lasts for the hour. Really quiet. Struggled to figure out the catcher, but otherwise incredibly easy to set up and use. So many childproof checks in place, making it incredibly safe to have around.

Wow, so pleased.
I managed to get the Launch edition, 36v with a 5ah battery instead of the 4ah. It is so light and easy to use, I have various grades of grass and one sloping level. which the mower managed with ease, you could hear the engine change level, when it got to the really thick stuff, but it kept going, slow down your pace when it does this. I had to empty it a fair few times, but did not mind this and catcher is very easy to install. it possibly would be a bit better with a larger catcher. I did my back garden, front verge and front garden which is ...Read more
quite large, and did it in less time than the petrol mower I had, and still had 2 bars left on the battery. I only got it Monday, but am so pleased with it and 6 year warranty gives me confidence. One thing to be aware of, when putting the handle up be careful about catching the power cable, I will find something to stop this happening.Purchased in February 2021 at Bunnings Carlingford for $499.00.

Works great (2 months)
Very light, very easy to start by just pressing a button and holding handle. I have thick (after recent rain) Walter buffalo and it handles it great. I mow fortnightly at 3rd level. Very easy to push. Only had it 2 months so can’t comment on longevity. Battery (5ah) lasts enough for standard front and rear yards these days. Only minor issue is catcher is a bit smaller than I’m used to but it doesn’t bother me.

Great until the battery gave up the ghost
I was a big advocate for this product until I had the same misfortune of others here on the site - battery failure.
I've had my mower for 2 years and was a big fan. So much so I bought the blower vac, line trimmer, pole saw and other accessories, all using the same battery and life was bliss. The items themselves perform well so long as you have reasonable expectations - domestic use only in suburban well kept gardens, not jungle like conditions or acres of fields to mow. I got rid of my petrol products as I was so impressed. Unfortunately, I...Read more

Would not waste your money on these batteries
Bought the mower from Bunnings, while the mower works great, the work needed to keep the battery working is beyond a joke given the technology in batteries. The fact that the 36v will go into hibernation mode an not recover unless you are “using the mower and recharging the battery every two weeks” as explained by a Ryobi sales rep at a Bunnings store is sign that the product is either cheap or Ryobi have no understanding how often people need to mow small yards. Bunnings won’t do anything unless u have the receipt for a mower bought less than 12 months ago, even with each individual mower being tracked by serial number into a store. Stay away

Never thought I’d buy a battery lawn mower
Light weight, I’d never go back to petrol again. I will mention don’t buy and expect to mow an acre of grass these are designed for smaller yards. I get around 65 minutes out of my mower. I was so impressed I bought the whipper sniper as well.

Don't bother with Ryobi ...
I sold my petrol driven self-propelled lawnmower and bought the Ryobi self-propelled lawnmower in June 2022 believing it would easily handle the job. In September 2022 I had both my front and back garden fully landscaped and chose to have Sir Walter Buffalo DNA certified lawn.
Imagine my disappointment when the Ryobi struggles to push through the grass. I am now having to mow my lawn every 7-10 day's or it simply can NOT push through!
I've had to return the mower THREE times. First it was found to have a faulty battery which was replac...Read more
ed, second time the mower wasn't starting because the screws weren't aligned. Now for the THIRD time I must lift the Ryobi lawnmower into my car and return to Bunnings because the battery is stuck in the mower! I suffer health challenges so for me to have to ask a neighbour to lift this Ryobi lawnmower it in and out of my car and for me to have to return the to Bunnings for a third time is absolutely infuriating .. to say the least! This time around they should come to me, why should I be inconvenienced? I should add, I am not cutting wet grass and it is not long - how much can grass grow in 7 days?! I have contacted both Ryobi and Bunnings. Ryobi wanted photos and asked ridiculous questions (ie. is the grass wet?), I responded to their questions politely and sent photos but have not heard back from them which I feel is rather rude.Purchased in June 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for $750.00.

Reliable powerful 10 /10
RML36X46BL Lawnmower with 4 AH Battery and Charger Kit. An honest review. Bought yesterday and opened the box. Easy to assemble just needed to attach top part of the handle . The catcher took some time to figure out - how the hell the bag goes on the frame. Looked at box image and got there in the end. Charged battery to full charge - it was showing half of one bar when put on the charger from new. Mowed today. Took 40 minutes to mow back and front lawns. Actually quicker than my petrol mower did without a catcher. Mowed on level 3 with a catch...Read more
er which I rarely used in the past. The mower did rev a little in the ankle deep sections of grass. Mower is light weight and does cut grass when pulled backwards too. Mower never stopped or cut out. Only stops when handle is released and it super easy to start again. Oh and it is super quiet with no fumes. Catcher is easy to put in place every time. People say the catcher does not fill completely - I did not have this issue but then my grass is dry. I guess we will have to see the difference in winter with wet grass. Three catchers and they were all completely full. Battery used 1 bar. Might also add I got this mower at a great price so was able to upgrade to the brushless model. Only time will tell but so far 10/10.Purchased in January 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for $499.00.

Good idea but short of the mark
Plenty of power and good range. The catcher is a major letdown, it's difficult to get on and is angled up significantly meaning clippings don't get to the back of the catcher and they start coming back out in the grass before it is 1/3 full. The requirement to hold the Deadman levers while mowing is a bit silly too, no petrol mower ever had these. Also had two batteries fail within 12months and although they have Ryobi written all over them and the date of manufacture stamped into them, Ryobi won't replace them without a receipt.

Buyer Beware
My mower is now just over 4 years old, it has been good, no cords to pull etc and it gives a good cut. Recently it started to pulsate as though the battery was on it's way out, given a full charge overnight and it will start to struggle after a couple of runs up and down the lawn. It is ok on the finer grass around the back but it does not like the couch grass down the side. I priced a new battery ($299) which has made me review the mower, not worth replacing a battery every 3 to 4 yrs when I can buy an easy start petrol one for a few dolla...Read more
rs more which can handle the couch with ease and does not need costly bits every 24 cuts. At the price of replacement batteries I would expect them to last a bit longer given I only have a small area to mow and cut about 6 times over a summer/autumn period.Purchased in September 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for $599.00.

Rubbish
I bought this as I was sick of hurting my back trying to start the petrol mower but the catcher on this is just awful, I struggle to get it hooked/unhooked...hurting my back anyway! The catcher is a terrible design and when you finally remove it, huge wads of grass fall out from a chute on the mower which often needs clearing by hand. But the worst is that after just two uses, the mower will not turn on at all. The battery is fully charged, everything is as instructed, tips and tricks I found online have all failed. I will be returning it to point of purchase ASAP and would not get another Ryobi battery mower. Whoever designed the flimsy catcher should be made to sit and take it on and off all day as penance!

ENGINE CUTS OUT FOR NO REASON
I was so excited to buy my Ryobi Lawn Mower at Bunnings. Bought it exactly 35 days ago. Second time l used it & 30 mins into mowing front lawn & it just started cutting out. It had 2 bars left in battery. I was doing everything by the manual ie: dont let go of handle. I recharged it for ten mins hoping that would breathe life into it. But no. So frustrating to stop/start & try to finish mowing front lawn. Note: first time it was used was 3 weeks ago. It is very dry up here so lawn doesnt grow fast like cooler climates. The time of day was from 5.40pm so temperature was not hot (around 28 degrees). It was not a big job....
Very disappointed in the Ryobi mower

Utterly useless. Possibly the worst thing I have ever bought.
This lawnmower is terribly designed. It tries to push the grass cuttings into the catcher through a hole less than 15cm in diameter, meaning grass is constantly getting backed up which causes the blades to slow and then stop. This causes extra load on the battery, which goes flat in about 20 minutes. The catcher itself is small and is strangely shaped; the grass builds up at the front rather than going through to the back. There are t-shaped quick release fasteners for the handle which extend beyond the sides of the lawnmower, meaning they get ...Read more

Battery Robbery
Looks like I'm not the only one to feel ripped off by Ryobi's rechargeable products. Only $300 to replace a battery that has lasted just 3 years! They suck you in to getting multiple products and sharing the batteries. But then you're just left with a heap of useful gear unless you pay through the nose. Do you think you're meeting your obligations under the Australian Consumer Law Ryobi? We'll see...
