Good
I like it and will continue to use it as it suits my purposes very well with my limited range of movement. I think it is a little over priced but if you can get it on a sale worth the money. My only drawback on this model is the relatively small size of the catchment bag but this is both a pro and a con as any bigger and you would be holder the vac up when the bag fills rather than pushing it along.
This is an extremely easy unit to use and maneuver. It was purchased because I had difficulty using a normal hand held version because of a bugg...Read more

Terrible
Look for other options, it's not worth the hassle of having your leaves constantly re-deposited every few minutes. It's a lemon.
The vacuum and blower works
Consider buying a second hand Victa Vac 500 rather than this. The problem is that Victa have not managed to create a vacuum bag that 1/ Does not blow off the machine or 2/ Hold half a kilo of fine dust in the material inside the bag. The vacuum is great, the bag makes the whole thing a lemon. Definitely not recommended.

Useless
Had it for 6 months, use it mainly as a vac to suck up dirt, no leaves or tough stuff, on brickpaving and artificial turf.
expensive, doesnt actually suck at all, have to pull it backwards for it to barely suck, it wont even lift small gravel or heavy sand, the bag doesnt seal so half the stuff that actually ends up escapes again.

Unless you're a patient person, don't bother with it.
I purchased my unit a couple of years ago specfically for vacuuming the floor of my shed. I have a large 40 foot long shed and get a lot of dust from the dirt road beside my property.
The main problem with it is that the bag can't handle any more than about 30 seconds of vacuuming before it blocks up. The problem comes down to the shute which blows the dust into the bag. because it faces down it blows all the dirt directly into the bottom of the bag and therefore blocks it up in no time.
I have learnt to be patient with it and empty the bag every 30 seconds or so, even though it can get pretty annoying. However at the end of the day it does do it's job.
Is easier than sweeping the shed out.
Bag clogs up too quickly.

OK
Replaces the Victavac 500 vac only unit.
Very effective, but the big weakness is the bag which had holes blown in it after four sweeps. My previous Victvac 500 was 25 years old and still on the original bag. Instruction manual says the bag is a consumable but in view of the short life I contacted Victa who replaced it without question. They admitted they had a "problem" with these bags and are working on a solution. The bag on the new model is made from a synthetic mesh which probably breathes better but is not durable.
Efficient in vacuuming. Blow function is handy
Bag is not durable. A problem that Victa needs to rectify.

Disappointing
Works well if only vacuuming a few leaves. will not pick up things like small twigs, gum nuts etc. These have to be blown away on a separate pass once you've vacuumed the leaves. If you try to pick up a clump of leaves (that have built up in a corner etc)the unit clogs up easily and then you have to dig around in the chute to clear it. Rather time consuming.
When the bag is about half full, the unit starts blowing air back out the edges of the chute which means it's constantly blowing leaves away at the edges instead of picking them up.

I agree with DbtSit. The bag is total rubbish. I repaired mine several times and it's finally beyond recovery. Then try and find a replacement bag.
Do not buy this product. Bagless in Sydney

A big disappointment
Having owned and been very pleased with the performance of my 10 year old Victa outdoor vacuum, I felt no hesitation re updating to another last year. What a terrible mistake this has been! My old machine and never replaced bag were given away. This new machine is up to the seventh replacement as the claim is it will not tolerate sand! Perth is a sandy city and one is unable to avoid sucking in sand. Suddenly my machine took to blowing only action and unless it as held at ground level would it suck. I am looking over the market to buy another brand of outdoor vacuum to replace this white elephant and keep my brick paving in tidy condition.
light and easily managed by an elderly person.

How do you unblock the machine so that the selection knob can be turned from vacuum to blow and back again? Then how do you prevent it from clogging again? Thankyou, David P, Melbourne.

d the product down into the bag - as the homelite etc] does, [but the higher tube will need to be affixed into the bag as the opening in the bag will not alow a longer upward facing tube] when blowing down into the bag, the lifted material is constantly made airborn & blinds the bags porosity - see earlier note i made ref using homelite bag with higher porosity. With great success!
