Is this unit any good for outback touring on remote 4wd tracks. I read somewhere that it isn't so good for remote 4wd, but just fine for more local 4wd. Thanks

Hi Glenda,

I purchased the unit from 4wd supercentre based on the feedback they had on their website.

My experience was the opposite and I could not recommend the VMS.

Avoid it and look for an alternate device. It may cost more initially however it would have to be another shocker to not provide better value for the money.

Graeme, as I mentioned in my article I wouldn't recommend buying this product because it was too hard getting any help. I dont recommend and would never buy a VMS product ever. Sorry I would love to help but I cant. Thats why I wrote the warning.

You are seeing the OziExplorer screen which is only supplied as the demo version.

With a pen or stylus tap on the OK to complete the loading process (you may need to tap around it). When the program is loaded tap on the red X icon bottom right to exit the program.

Once exited you should be shown a menu with Street / Off road with GPS options in the top right. Tap on GPS options and select under "VMS Off road", this is setting the default off road program to use. Select "Back" and then choose Off road from the navigation choices menu, the correct program should now load.
Providing you do not enter this setup screen again and change this option you should not have this issue again.

Is this a new hdx 700 or an older unit youve had and its suddenly packed up,if first case that sounds like the sympton of faulty sd card which has been an issue, either way ring vms they were good with me when an issue arose

Hi mate there was a problem with the SD card on this, bring it back to were you bought it tell them to give you an upgraded SD card or get them to send it back to VMS, they have a recall out on this fault.
If you can get your money back take it as this has to be the most useless GPS I have every bought, tried to find a big 4 caravan park that came up on it 14 km away and it could not even find it even do it was programmed in.
All the best Dec.

yeah I agree with above, sounds like the sd card is faulty/corrupted,you can copy the files from sd card to a windows computer, then reformat the sd card, then put the original files back on sd card and this fixes it,if not computer skliied enough, you will have to as said above get a replacement sd card
I found vms very helpful when I contacted them for querries- email [email protected] or phone them, info here may help you
