Good city car with some minor issues
Bought Golf 7 Highline with safety package and luxurious package in 2015 for my wife. Good city car and only done 30,000 km. Overall happy with it. I am six feet tall and fit in comfortably, more spacious than other small cars like Corolla, Mazda 3, Honda Civic, etc. Fast, solid. Like it's cornering light and adaptive cruise control.
Some minor issues need to mention before buying VW:
1. Don't like the start stop system, slow start when stop in red traffic light. I have to disable it every time before driving.
2. Battery dead just after three ...Read more

A quality car in almost every way
I purchased my Golf 7 (a 103TSI Highline) second hand in a private sale. It was still under warranty at the time, although had done a fair few kilometers. It did need new clutch packs for the DSG, which were replaced under warranty, and now over 2 years later it still drives absolutely brilliantly. I have now covered 90000kms, and everything still works perfectly, it rides and drives lovely, nothing squeaks or rattles, basically it still looks almost brand new. Compared to other small cars the Golf really does feel premium; and the way it drive...Read more
s supports that. It's also great on fuel (as low as 4.5l/100km on highway trips), it's quiet, comfortable, and has lots of handy gadgets and driving aids (such as Adaptive Cruise Control and self parking). It would have rated a 5 if only the servicing costs were a bit more competitive, as they can be a but pricey compared to a Corolla or Astra.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

good build but disappointing drive at low speed
The Golf is a bit overrated. It's build quality is good and strong acceleration in mid-range, but at low-speed, the DSG and turbo lag often caused delay of up to 1 second from the time I step on the gas to the time that the car started to speed up. When the power comes, it is a rough surge and a jerky ride. On many occasions, entering round-about was scary because of this delay. The auto-hold is also annoying because it holds not only up-hill, but in all situations when the car stops. It means that in heavy traffic, just releasing the brak...Read more
e won't edge the car forward, but I have to step on the gas and then a hard brake just to move the car forward a short distance. In the end, I decided not to use it at all. On the other hand, I really like the cornering light because it is really useful at night. I would have kept the car if not for the disappointing low-speed handling. Now I am trading it for another brand.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great stylish city car
The car is easy and pleasant to drive. Fuel efficiency is great. The European build is solid. I haven’t had any problems with my car since buying it new in 2013. The interior highline package looks high end and costs no extra with the 103TSI engine, unlike most other competitor models. Legroom and boot space are good too.

Efficient, zippy and luxury
This car is really comfortable to drive, its quiet and steers really well. The seats and interiors have been really well thought out with clever features such as reverse and front sensors to assist with no accidental bumps, the locking system that also closes your windows. Its fuel efficient and has a zippy powerful kick in its drive.

Love this Car!
My VW Golf has been the best car I have ever owned. I have had numerous cars in my 33 years of driving and the driving experience is well above every other car. It is smooth, comfortable on long trips, fast and powerful -leaves most for dead. The features compared to other comparable cars is no contest, the unstated elegance of the dash tilted slightly towards the driver unlike the plasticy over the top consoles of most other hatches is superior in quality, the ambient lighting, the storage for example the sunglass holder - most new cars hav...Read more
e one except there is another near the lights switch for my husband's pair. Storage under the seat, hooks in the boot for shopping too many things too mention. I love it at night time when you turn the corner the driving lights follow you and lights same corner, I sometimes park on a steep driveway and have to reverse, not so easy with a DSG, no problem put yr seatbelt on select auto hold place in reverse take handbrake off, then gently accelerate, holds perfectly. The car is fantastic on fuel as it is only 1.4lt yet the turbo is a pleasure to drive, I too have to constantly watch my speed on the freeway as it just wants to go. Thank goodness for cruise control. In our deal we have had the first three years services for free, when we looked at other cars most had to be serviced at 9 mths and was above the servicing costs of the usual VW service. Sure it was a concern when vw had such bad press which could affect pricing on resale yet my sisters nissan pulsar and friends kia cerato has dropped far more in value. I also own a mk4 2002 which has 300,000+ on the clock and still drives beautifully and smooth and is still zippy with its 2ltr manual, all my kids have learned to drive in. My daughter bought a 2015 VW Golf comfortline with park assist and driver attention, she loves it, my son has a 2009 mk 6 he is ready now to buy a VW 'R' model. So in all we have 4 Golfs, 2 manual, 2 DSG not a problem. We are in no way affiliated with VW we have driven Ford, Holden, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Mini, Hyundai, the Golf is by far my favourite. ,Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Best small car I've owned
We recently downsized to Sydney's inner west and decided to downsize the family car as well.
The Golf is the perfect car for inner city living. It's very easy to park in the tight spaces of our street. It handles very nicely and has that special European feel to it.
The finish inside is very high-end with a load of features from the navigation system to Bluetooth audio and phone controls.
Also comfortable for 4 adults.
The fuel economy around the city is very good getting 700 km to a tank with constant stop start driving.
No complaints at all.

Loving my Golf even more
It was a sad day when I traded our Mazda 3 2.3 but our new Golf 103 Highline has helped us forget "Mazda Who?" very quickly.
After reading the expert reviews and test driving the best of the class, the Golf was a no brainer (provided you could wear the extra expense).
Two months of owning our Highline has more than affirmed the promised quality of performance, handling, drive, comfort, features and interior design.
Sure, there are minor irritations. The at times eccentric routes suggested by the satnav are only outdone by the incomprehensibi...Read more
