Good product - when you don't get a DOA
I initially purchased from Officeworks, when I setup at home the device showed Error status which could not be resolved. I work in IT and couldn't resolve the issues with the inital setup - so I took it back, but they didn't have another instock so I got a refund. I went to another Officeworks and purchased another, it was also DOA - but this time I was lucky enough to set it up in the car before I drove out of the carpark (thinking I don't want to come back again). It was also DOA, and errored straight away on setup. So I immediately took it b...Read more
ack - being the second DOA I had, I considered if I was doing something wrong and asked an employee to go through the process with me. They were very helpful, but we ended up calling the support line, running through their steps and the technical support advised to replace the product. I agreed to try yet another one, and on the 3rd time it actually worked as described in the setup manual... I had to spend about 4 hours of my time and travel around before I got a working one. This experience seems to be quite common and a lot of reviews of people seem to return the device. Having said that, now it's working I've used it on overseas travel and it worked without a hitch. If you can find one that isn't DOA then I suspect you are lucky and cudos! There is obviously something very temperamental with the QA process though, so expect to have to return the product if you want to find a working one.Similar opinion? Great concept - poor quality control
I decided to purchase the Hard drive to take on a holiday so that video footage from my drone could be downloaded and edited during the holiday without the need for power supply or wi fi connection. Drone video is very data hungry, hence having a machine which could store directly from an SD card or have its own wifi to connect to a mobile or tablet would be fantastic. Consequently I purchased the WD Wireless Pro from JB Hi fi and took it home to set up. After fully charging I tried to connect. Instead of connecting to my phone, all lights on...Read more
the machine flashed blue which according to the Manual suggested product was DOA. Returning to the store, the sales guy took another from the shelf and proceeded to exchange the item. I asked for it to be checked in store as I live quite a distance away from the shopping centre. Again powered up the new item displayed the same error code on the LEDs suggesting it needed to be returned to Western digital. Tried a third one from new stock out back of store and hey presto this one 'seemed' to work. Took it home and charged it up, then turned it on and you guessed it.....wouldn't connect to anything. Tired of the 40 km trips to the shop I decided to get my money back and go down another path. Three units in a row all not working all brand new is more than just a mistake on the assembly line. Western Digital you need to look very carefully into QC as you have totally lost me as a customer. Pity I cant give less than 1 in rating !!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
