Customer service does not know how things work
I was told that some technical issue on my transaction that its either I cancel or escalate that someone will investigate and can take up to 24 hours. while on the phone i said, just cancel, since this is not the first time i had issues, then i receive email that my transaction is completed. I haven't even talked to someone who will investigate. they just don't know how things work and will just try to transfer you from one department to another

Absolute rubbish
I have been sending money with Western Union for over 20 years and have never had any issues up until recently. I needed to urgently send money overseas for funeral and was asked to provide a bank statement (even though I have been transferring on countless occasions). I called up four times to follow up and was reassured each time that it would be processed within one hour no more. In my last call, I was advised that my bank statement was inadequate because it was not a ‘Screenshot’ or ‘photo’ of my statement (I had provided the actual PDF copy of my statement). This is a absolutely ludicrous as the transfer has still not been completed. Stay away from Western Union! I will never be using your rubbish service again.

When sending money it goes through verification process. You have been sending money before to the same person but this does not guarantee that your transactions will automatically go through.

Dont use in 2020
Hey guys, try not to use this service as much as you can mving forward in 2020 due to lack of staff. The company announced 10% staff cuts and the waiting times now are 1.5 hours. The rates are really bad aswell. You will be asked for ID constanty and the transfer is not approved right away. Try others first and only use western union as a last resort.

Horrible customer service !!
I made 3 transactions last night. Although these are supposed to be completed by 2 hours, still after 12 hours they are on review phase. I have waited 20 minutes to catch a customer service agent and he asked me to call again after 20 minutes. Overall, “money transfer within 10 minutes” is a complete myth !! It is a miserable failure to keep promises to customers!!

Waste of time
I finalised a transfer online, and advised to take money and an ID to a participating store in Victoria.
I went to 3 stores, all three said they don't do western union transfer (all with various excuses), despite being listed as a participating store and having the WU logos all over their stores.
Finally, went to a Post Office where they could not locate the transaction I had initiated online. Another option was to start a new transaction with them which would cost me much more to send money.
Waste of time.

They are a waste of time if you try to get money to countries they don't like. Friends are in need and I can't do a transfer to them. Frustrating!!!!

Duff and dum customer service
I have made an emergency transfer to uk from Australia from bank to bank, after 12 hours I have 3 emails saying transfer successful, then transfer declined and then transfer cancelled .
As it was emergency I have called the WesternUnion and they pick call after long wait but they can’t hear me where I can hear very well not just the person I am talking but all other talking at background.
This looks to me that they don’t have solutions for any call so they kept saying we can’t hear and disconnect the call .
This is very bad, I use to transfer using them since more then 2 year now no more .

An absolute garbage don’t use them
I sent money to my sister overseas by using their website online
They simply said it will be available on seconds however they didn’t give the money to my sisters saying I (the sender) need to prove my identity and they wanted my drivers licence, bank statement
Whaaaaat ?? Identity thief comes to mind from such a crappy company.
Use other methods do not use this crappy company

OMG - What a terrible company
I had the need to transfer a lot of money to my daughter in America. Western Union lost the money! I rang and emailed them about 30 times and was given lies and excuses by the call centre staff. They took almost one month to resolve the problem. No apology just an offer of a couple of free transfers. BAD COMPANY DON'T USE.

Money transfered with a diifferent amount
3.449.990 idr was promised to be paid.
My other party got it only 2.699.990 idr.
500.000 idr was been corrupted ? Too much charge. I fuly understand when u finalized they written your amount could be lessen. But not 50dollar.

Never ever use western union! Worse then being scammed!
Skin have had over the past 10 years of trying to get my large amount of money back and trying to get my mtcn numbers from western union has been a complete joke! They have give me mtcn numbers but not the mtcn numbers for the larger amounts of money and I really needed to have this information but they will not give it to me. They are just a bunch of scamming people themselves! Stay well clear of this service.

Status says 'Complete', but amount not credited
I transferred a good chunk of AUD to Indian bank account. After 3 days, the status of the transaction changed as 'Complete' and says amount credited to Indian bank account. However, nothing has been credited in the recipient account. WU customer care asked me to speak to the Indian bank. Bank has no idea where the payment is.. At any cost, avoid WU - they turn to be a SCAM all of the sudden Update : after multiple calls and follow-up money credited to Indian account today. Not trustworthy and very unreliable!!
I have transferred some money to India for an urgent matter on Monday, 9th March through western union. It has been 4 days since then. Still my money has not been deposited to the Indian account! I have been calling western union many times. Those guys are not very helpful and keep saying the same recorded reasons like robots!! They are not able to give me any valid reasons. Says there could be a technical issue with the bank in India!!! It is very annoying and frustrating experience for us. It is a big worry that if my money is not able to reach there in this week. Please don’t trust Western Union anymore!!!!

Horrible service n not at all trustworthy
I have transferred money through western union on Saturday and today is Thursday its been almost a week now still my money has not been reflected to my Indian account i had called many times to western union and they are just giving me lame reasons and not helping me at all they kept sending me same emails and not giving me any valid reasons. They are saying its banks technical issue and this is ridiculous when they are sending this to India so they must be having some tie-up with Indian bank so they can ask proper reason that why still my amount has not been credited. Its is so disappointing i am now so worried about my money and sacred to use western union now...its my mistake that i had trusted on western union

Total Idiots
They wanted a bank statement verification I went back and forth multiple times they received a PDF statement with EVERYTHING on it and they kept saying resend it no account number while the number is right there on the front page. Absolute morons!!!!!

Beware of using this service for money transfer. You will need to provide a bank statement of the account that you are transferring the money from. We have been told this is going to be applicable to every money transfer by their customer service agent.

Why does WU need a personal bank statement for an online money transfer? Are they policing customers? ID verification is normal procedure, not production of bank statement which is too much financial data to ask for. When requested to cancel the transaction it would take 5-7 business days to refund. When asked about the complaint process he was told there was no written complaint process but the customer service agent would write the complaint on his behalf. Are they serious? Hopeless and Incompetent Phone Support
I have been using WU for several months and made between 10 and 20 transactions either through an agent which was usually the local Post Office or the mobile phone app or using the website. Of those say 20 transactions, 5 or 6 were through the post office and they were all processed without issue although they were a bit expensive. The remaining transactions either through the phone app or the WU website have all had problems. Almost every one of them. Their phone support staff are hopeless, the latest failure has been going on for two days now, I have called them 3 times and had 3 different answers none of which provide a solution. Out of desperation I tried calling the head office in Boulder Colorado but due to the time difference there was no answer, I left a message and haven't had any call back. Avoid this company if you want a simple hassle free way to transfer money overseas. Judging by the other reviews the problems with Western Union seem to be systemic. Hi mary joy. Just be very careful who you are sending your money to. Western union does send it but are not very forthcoming with giving information you need years gone by.
