Hi Douglas, if you follow the instructions that came with your Yardking you should not have any problems, make sure you load the cord in the correct way, looking down on the bump feeder you should win...
Read mored the cord clockwise and don't use more than 6 meters of cord, I hope this helps.

Would not recommend this trimmer to anyone.Yes I broke mine too & told I have to buy the whole engine as they don't supply single parts .
