I have an MX8, it stopped moving. I have checked for blokages, and also suction pressure. Decided it may need a service kit as one of the gears was loose and moving side to side. I open the service kit and noticed that one of the new gears also had movement so assumed that that how it was meant to be. I replaced all
Parts, motor, gears and treads . Still not moving. Can you help

My AX10 was bought in May 2018. Its worked fine until the tracks needed replacing two months ago. Now it goes in a circle as one side does drive any more. When I bought the new tracks I also got new rotating scrubbers which I have not installed. Is this a simple matter f replacing the rotating scrubbers?

Scrubbers simply squeeze and pull out and plug new ones back in

I've done that but the left side track is still not functioning. The black drive cog is looser than the right, so I guess it's the internal drive axle. I don't want to avoid warranties by opening the axle or gear housing.

I have an AX10 and have recently replaced my pool pump - the replacement is the same brand and HP as the broken one (Hayward and 1.5 HP) - there seems to be slightly more suction with the new pump
The AX10 starts off at full speed, but after about 10 secs it stalls and won't move - no change of direction.

Hi Garry, generally such a failure is gearbox related and if you still are under warranty then it should be fixed for free...but it won't be quick. Alternatively, I can look at it, test it in my pool and offer some immediate support. Call me on 0451786654 if it isn't sorted yet or just want to talk about it. I can come to you for a modest fee. Kind regards, John

Hi John, Thank you for your answer - I suspected that it was gear box related.
I have bought a kit on line, so perhaps I could get your help with installing when it arrives?

No worries. I can show you how to take it apart and put it back together...and we can hope the problem is solved.

Had the same problem at first it was the hose connection not properly connected. Just double check all the connections to hose links.

AX10 completely useless. I returned it after a week for a full refund. Bought a Kreepy Krauly instead. Fantastic. The pool has never been so clean before

Hi Jenni,

Sorry to hear you're having troubles! Although, this sounds like a suction issue that is likely pump basket or skimmer box related. Unfortunately, the only way to determine where the problem lies is by disconnecting the cleaner and assessing water flow and the sound of each piece of equipment in your system, then plugging the cleaner back in and doing the same.

Either way, feel free to email [email protected] and we'll be in touch to see how we can help!

Thanks,

I bought my AX10 two years ago and it has been great. Used in a 70,000 litre salt pool with vinyl liner, the AX10 has climbed the walls and cleaned the entire pool surface every day in a couple of hours. I never take it out of the water and just run every day for about three hours. Recently, it had to have new tracks (under warranty) when it suddenly stripped them out of the blue. A couple of months have gone by and now the unit won't climb a wall anymore. After watching an online video, I stripped it down, cleaned the whole system and re-assembled it. It cleans across the pool but will no longer climbs the vertical surfaces even with new tracks. The pH has been perfect every time it has been tested. Importantly, I have not had to add chemicals to my pool since getting the unit over two years ago, winter or summer. I need to fix this issue now. If I put the cleaner on a vertical surface, it works perfectly but may eventually drive to the bottom of the pool and remain stuck indefinitely as it can't climb or gain enough traction to make the change from horizontal to vertical or back. Also, if you go underwater with the unit, you can hear that it is "chattering" a lot when it is trying to change from horizontal to vertical. If the issue is the surfaces have become slippery then I am permanently in trouble as I can't imagine there is anything I can do about that. More likely, the tracks are either too hard or are being contaminated with chlorine/salt from the pool and then becoming useless. There must be an answer. Also, for those commenting about "corners" the AX10 doesn't really handle them that well and can become lodged in a manner where both tracks are not touching the pool sides stranding the unit permanently. I love my AX10 so it would be good to get the right answer from someone.

I have just purchased an AX 10, and I am unable to get it to run within the times on the installation sheet. the slowest time I can get it to run for 10 revolutions is 7 seconds, even with the skimmer box elbow set at 1. Do you have a suggestion or me. Thanks Bill

Hey Bill, don't worry about the timing I suggest. Reduce your pool cleaning time to say 2 hours per day and take a punt on it. My pool has stayed perfectly clean on a three hour cycle running every day, summer and winter, and now needs no chemicals to remain balanced at all times. My local pool shop suggested that this would never work but it has been going for two plus years now without any added chemicals (salt pool) with the pH being absolutely spot on every time I get it tested.

I have an AX10 ACTIV which is only about 4-6 weeks old. I have only used it a couple of times. This is because the manual vacuuming does a much much better job. The unit has NEVER covered the whole of the pool surface but more importantly just simply stops working - this can be in the middle of the pool or at a step riser. It does climb the walls to the water line.
As I purchased this new with a new pool I have gone through the pool installer for assistance. They have said they have gotten onto Zodiac Customer Support but that seems to have stalled.
Basically I think the unit is defective as it has never operated all that well. I would love to get some assistance with this please.

I went through 2 MX8's with the track problem, and other problems. I had to take to Zodiac and get fixed under warranty. Bought new tracks a couple of times and eventually we just tossed it. I would like to try the AX10 but am afraid that I will spend all that money again and have the same issues as before and as described by these other customers. What is your comment Zodiac?

Hi, I purchased a Zodiac AX10 in January 2022 from Pool and Spa Warehouse at Blacktown, NSW, until recently it has worked fine however one rubber track comes off the wheel every day, there is no apparent damage to the track or the wheels, what would be causing this problem, would the rubber tracks need replacing so soon?

I took the unit to your Blacktown distributor today and after inspection and confirmation of a fault, lodged a warranty claim, seems a bit of a waist of time as I now have to wait for a service tech to come to my house to repair the unit when it could have been done in just a few minutes today.

Hi. We have just purchased the AX10 and love it so far. It cleans the bottom of our pool beautifully. The only thing is it won't climb the walls of our recently tiled kidney shaped pool. We borrowed next door neighbours Dolphin which is a robot and doesn't rely on suction to make it move and that didn't climb our walls either - even though it climbs the wall of the neighbours rectangle fibreglass pool. So it has nothing to do with lack of suction or the AX10 itself I'm thinking. It must either be the tiles and/or the curvature of our pool which is stopping the cleaners from climbing our walls. Any suggestions? I know with the Kreepy Krauly they offer a separate foot with dimpled cork inserts that help it to climb the tiled pool walls. Does the AX10 have anything like this for my issue?

Hi, no the AX10 doesn’t have anything like that. When we first bought ours it worked really well, then we started having issues with the unit and Zodiac declined any warranty work. If you still can, I would suggest returning the unit and get a full refund and buy a kreepy krauly instead.

Zodiac
Customer C.Zodiac

Hi Tracey, The only other thing that you can check is the current Ph level of the water? if you can confirm that reading, we can rule out that from the reason it wont climb. Unfortunately, we don't any separate features as you mentioned above. Thanks.

Hi. I have had an AX10 for about 18 months and recently it seems to clean for a few minutes and then just stops. It isn’t clogged with anything and the suction is fine. Any advice appreciated.

The most likely is that the drive motor has packed in. According to Zodiac, if your unit gets exposed to chlorine, the components breakdown leading to failure. Apparently you have to rinse it in fresh water every two days. I had to go to consumer affairs to get mine fixed as Zodiac wouldn’t acknowledge their two year warranty. Good luck.

Unfortunately you can’t, there is no way to set it, it was part of the reason our pool pump packed in as an air pocket locked up the impeller.

I’ve had a Zodiac 10 since 2016.
The rubber cleaners have stopped spinning, suction seems to be ok. I have noticed when I lift the cleaner to the surface, and the connection piece is raised out of the water it sucks in air.
Is this normal or that is where I am loosing suction??

Hi Simon, look up the video online about maintaining your AX10/MX8 and take your unit apart. You only need one correctly sized standard Philips screwdriver to do this. It is simple and foolproof to do. You will probably discover that the engine is choked with tiny/thin/long fibrous plant parts and once removed all should be good. All working parts are easily tested on the bench.
