Hi I brought a mx6 approx 5 months age and installed it into my pool, I checked the pressure 22 sec for 10 turns, my problem is cleaner is coming up above the waterline all the time and I mean ALL of the time . Have moved weight both ways to try to stop it, but nothing seems to work. VERY Frustrating I even removed the mx6 from my pool and reworked my old cleaner so I wouldn't have to use the mx6 again, but now after a couple of months the old cleaner is beyond repair so have to either get the mx6 cleaner working properly or change to a completely different brand. any suggestions?
Slow it down more reduce the suction
Hi Gaus, Please call us if you would like some help with this. Our number is 1300 7630 21. Our customer care team are always happy to hep. Thanks!
I have the MX 6 and its been in the pool for about 12 months. Works as described and keeps the 50K Litre pool clear of dust, leaves and small debris. All pretty good so far. It climbs the walls ok too, but once at the top, it just keeps walking up over the water line, and sucks air until the pump loses its prime, and then the suction stops and the unit sinks to the bottom of the pool until the pump can re-prime. While this isn't the worst problem, I don't like the stress on the pump every few minutes as it resets. You can hear it straining to suck out the air from the pipes. I have an additional weight at the robot end of the hose, and adjusted the float from close to about a metre up the hose. The valve is on setting one, so the suction is at its minimum. Is there any adjustment to be made or is this just the design of the unit to get it to drop off the top of the wall? Thanks. Mark.
It sounds like to much suction
Have you counted and timed the wheel rotations
If you don’t have a adjustment on your skimmer plate maybe you could drill a hole in it to reduce suction a bit
HI Mark, Please call us on 1300 763 021, we can run through this with you, Thanks!
Hi
I bought a mx6 a couple days ago. I followed instructions to install it. Initially running fine. However, a hour later it stopped. I pulled it off and plugged it back and will run for a while. Finally, I found that it might be because it sucks too much air causing the pump stopped.
I tested the speed is fine. 10 rounds for 23 seconds with leave captured and 20 seconds without leave capturer.
The pump running fine without cleaner. It primes full water. However, as soon as I put the cleaner in, the water level dropped and never coming back to full. Sometimes the mx6 can climb up the wall and above the water level sucking air in.
I checked every pipe connection and I am sure it is good. I even tested only one segment of pipe to connect the mx6 but the pump water level still dropped.
Anyone can help me with this? Thanks.
Ivan
Hi Ivan, I think our issues are a little different. Mine has never had a water pressure problem and has never climbed the pool walls. Mine seems to have the impellors, gearbox and motor all out of alignment. Each impellor bangs against the internal water chamber and stops after a few seconds I'm guessing the whole body is out of whack.
The only benefit we have with MX-6 is during summer when the water is warm. I go into the pool and manually use the MX-6 as a vacuum cleaner to suck up the dirt.
Hi there,
I have a Zodiac MX6 and it’s been working great but now it seems to be tipping up all the time so it doesn’t clean the pool properly. Please let me know how I can fix this?
Thanks
Angela
Sorry Angela! I have not had an issue like that over the last five years I have had the Zodiac. My guess would be that lack of water flow could be a cause - back flushing the filter would solve that, possibly. How long since the sand in the filter was replaced? Is the suction hose getting twisted - and therefore shortened - causing the cleaner to tip up? There should be a weight at the cleaner end of the hose to help keep the unit on the bottom. Has that, by any chance, come off? Hope you get this sorted. Must be frustrating. Cheers. Phred
Hi Angela, I have just purchased mine and its doing the same thing. It rides on the back wheels and isnt cleaning the pool because it is at a 45 degree angel. I have back washed the filter. Its almost that the current is too strong and it pushes the zodiac upward.
Hey Limbo, Was seriously thinking about buying 2 Zodiac MX6 cleaners but after reading yours and others reviews am thinking it may not be such a good idea. Have Zodiac seen to your issues regarding the cleaner and if so is it running any better?
Hi, I rang Zodiac customer service as requested and spoke to a guy who asked for an email with photos etc. He said someone would contact me soon to arrange for a service call. A week went by and I hadn't heard from them so I rang again yesterday and went through the whole palaver again, but at least this time I have a definite appointment for a serviceman to come later this week. Will post an update after he has been.
Personally I would not purchase again, just to many issues from tangling hose which causes it to tilt up and not move to stopping at the step and staying there until you manually move it yourself, jamming because of the smallest twig, these things become very annoying very quickly.
Plus twice have sent details about problem and purchase receipt with video showing issues, as Zodiac requested further information after initial email. No reply to emails after 2 weeks so there’s that also, this was all through their customer support contact on Zodiac site. Maybe just the wrong cleaner for my pool which is a free form pebblecrete with no tight corners.
The Zodiac serviceman came out yesterday .... I think you have to be very persistent to actually get them to send someone; emails don't work. You need to phone them and refuse to hang up until you get things moving. But the servicemen was very nice, once he realised that we weren't idiots and the cleaner really was doing what we said, i.e. dancing around the pool and not picking anything up. He performed a few adjustments with no improvement, so admitted he was stumped. He had a different model (the ax10 Activ) in the back of his van, which just required a few bits canibalised from our MX6 to get it going, and when it went into the pool the difference was amazing. You could actually see the tracks of cleaned pool in its wake. So he left it there, and we now have a sparkling pool again. A good result in the end. We will cross our fingers for it to continue that way!
How come everybody seems to have the same problem with the mx 6 after a while it stops turning mine is a couple of months old and already having that problem. Do I have to change the drive side or what? I've checked everything else like suction air holes cracks and can't be wear cause it a couple months old?

My MX6 has slowed and stopped cleaning! Worked well for 15 months! Is there any adjustments to it I can make?
Hi Mike. May I ask if you have checked the following:
All hoses to ensure there is no leak
Suction level of Pool
Parts on Cleaner to see if there are any cracks or wear and tear?
Thanks!
Why is the hose on my MX6 coiling up when running? I straighten the hose but it just recoils right back up again.
Hi Mike, Have you tried laying the Hose out in the sun for a day and overnight? Thanks.
Because it’s a terrible design.....same problem,it is in the design.

In the last couple of months my zodiac has been falling backwards. Now it just stays in that position. Have unscrewed and opened up and there is no blockage. I've tried moving the float up and down...no difference. It was fine for a couple of years before it started doing this. Please help?
I have the exact same problem, please let me know if you get an answer. We are very frustrated about this issue. Thanks
Will do. I took it into the pool shop today and explained the problem. They had no idea why it would do that and said they would call the zodiac rep. Here's hoping...
Hi Jennie, Sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Cleaner.
Please check each of the lengths of hose. There may be a split in the hose or a loose connection which in stopping the flow. We would also recommend checking the flow rate of the MX6 by checking how many resolutions of the yellow timer on the wheel - refer to the owners manual https://www.zodiac.com.au/Content/cms/products/pdf/12522%20MX8%20MX6%20Manual%20vs4.pdf
If you are still having issues please call us for further trouble shooting tips, our number is 1300 763 021, Thanks.
Does the MX6 reverse. If the left hand wheel only stops but does not reverse is the direction motor the problem?
Hi Sideways, Thank you for choosing the Zodiac MX6 cleaner.
The MX6 cleaner does not reverse completely as one side is constantly driving forward, however, the other side does have a reversing mechanism which allows the machine to turn and navigate around. Please contact our Customer Care team on 1300 763 021 in order to go through some troubleshooting steps to make sure this cleaner is working correctly.
Don't forget to mention you were referred via Product Review. Thanks.
I have had my MX6 for around 8 months it doesn't reverse nor climb the walls where ever it hits the wall that is where it stays. Everything is set to the manual but it has ne reverse this is the third one I've bought in the zodiac range but none of them seem to work on my pool. My pool is 3 x 3 and 1.3 deep alround and fiberglass please help.

one of the side wheels don't work, so it keeps going in circles. Just wondering if there is a way to get it going again?
Hi, I'm not sure about just one wheel not working, but if it's both then it's probably that the SIDE A Part needs replacing. I did A LOT of research on the net and found interesting videos on you tube, then contacted ZODIAC as my MX6 was still under warranty.

Look to see if there's a crack in the tread. I had to replace mine because of a crack/tear. It kept either slipping off or stopping
Since we bought the Zodiac MX6, it doesn't climb the walls and steps. The flow is on 3. What can I do?
Hi Anneke, There are a few things you can check:
• Count Wheel Revolutions, flow may need to be adjusted via
AD Valve/Skimtrol plate.
• Verify correct hose float positioning on the leader hose.
Also, please check the Ph Level of the pool. If the Ph level is slightly high, it can cause the Cleaner to loose suction.
Please call us on 1300 763 021 if you would like further help. Thanks!
Thanks, will do
