Best Electric Chainsaws

Finding the right chainsaw for you is very important, considering they're one of the most high-powered and dangerous gardening tools you can own! Typical electrical chainsaws have strengths and weaknesses regarding maintenance, operating area, and power.

Being connected to the mains power limits the portability of an electric chainsaw, so make sure you have a big extension cord if you want to get down the back of your garden. Despite this, they are lighter than petrol and battery-powered models, making them easier to handle.

They also require limited maintenance and set-up, are much quieter than petrol-powered machines, and depending on the specific saw can still be high-performing. Portability is the main drawback of electrically powered chainsaws, meaning they're best used for smaller, lighter pruning jobs around the garden. For these jobs, a guide bar of up to 40cm (16") would be appropriate.

Safety is an important consideration for all chainsaws, but especially this one, given the added hazard of a connected power cable. Make sure you're properly equipped with head, eye and ear protection, and have a pair of gloves to operate your saw.
