My rear air-con is working but the front only sometimes works. Dealer told me I had to get a whole new panel costing over $700. I don't believe him. What could be the problem?

Mines going in to be fixed after new years. If ive had the air con on and get out to do shopping etc. When i get back in it isnt doing anything.. no air blowing out at all even though its on...until i go over a bump like a pot hole or speed hump, then it comes on as normal. Doesnt happen all the time. I would guess a loose wire. But dont know yet

Mine does that too. I think it's only a loose wire also. I'm going to take mine to another aoutoelectrician. See what they say. No dealer for me. They're terrible up here in Cairns

Hi i have a 2012 mahindra xuv 500 fwd . Im wondering if anyone can tell me how to fit or where to attach a complete tow pack please?

Any towbar place can fit if ford/mahindra is to expensive. Factory towbars usually are attached better than aftermarket ones and theres a trick to being able to do up the nuts. Have you got the fitting kit with it. Im pretty sure it has parts that attach under the floor. I will look when i get home.

Can i tow a caravan with a xuv 500 ?

It all depends how heavy the caravan is. We towed a 800kg camper trailer 2,000kms and it did it easy. I also towed a car on a car trailer once that would have been just under its maximum tow capacity. It did the job but I feel 1,500kgs is about the maximum you would want to tow any long distance or regularly to ensure the car isn't working too hard.

I have been towing an 18 foot caravan (5.5 metres) with gross loaded weight of 1,800 Kg and ball load of 140 Kg with trips spanning all of Australia during 4.5 years of XUV500 ownership. Average 10 Kilometres per Litre of fuel. No over heating in the hottest conditions. Reliability excellent. The rated tow weight or load is 2,500 Kg and 160 Kg on the tow ball. But I would recommend maximum of 2,000 Kg as the 330 Nm of torque is marginal when starting on a steep slope or getting stuck behind a crawling truck in hilly country.

Our XUV 500 side steps were a package deal we got when we purchased the car. They were fitted by the dealership.

Is mahindra xuv 500 w8 has gearbox problem?

Nope. Its good as gold. No gearbox issues known so far. I constantly review and research about this car here and overseas. Nothing reported.

DJT

110,000 Kilometre Service due soon and the six speed manual transmission has no problems, and the XUV500 has towed a caravan or large boat regularly. My only issue is minor, that the lower gear ratios are a little too high for steep hill starts with trailers attached to vehicle.

Now over 170,000 Kilometres travelled and quite a lot towing and gearbox not a problem.

Mahindra XUV500 (2012-2020)

Have been looking everywhere to try and find the cars download weight limit on the towball and can't seem to find it. I am aware the towing capacity is 2500kgs, just paid off my caravan which has a ball weight of 182kgs and was looking at the XUV500.
Thanks if anyone could help? :)

Yes 2,500 Kgs with trailer brakes permitted, ball download is 160 Kgs from memory, not enough for your requirements. In my opinion the manufacturer's ball loading is right, the XUV500 should not have any more download.

I'm looking at buying a SUV not sure what to get can anyone help? I live in the country and roads are ordinary so want something that will do the job

Hi Pam, If you are looking for a diesel SUV and like to get decent mileage, I would recommend Toyota RAV 4 diesel. If you need space Ford Territory and if you need something cheap and willing to drive manual then Mahindra XUV 500 is a good suv. All the above mentioned cars are Euro 4 standard and the spares are usually cheap.
If cost is not a factor and you prefer to keep it for only few years then you can go for any other make with Euro 5 engines.

Pam, the XUV500 is an excellent country road SUV, I live in and travel extensively the country, in 18-months 70,000 Km in all states except NT, includes Tas. Excellent ride and handling. After the 70 Km book service this week a mechanic commented on how good the condition of the vehicle underneath is and generally, for example no oil leaks and no faults obvious. Average country fuel consumption 6 Litres/100 Km and towing a caravan 9-10 Litres/100 Kms. City running occasionally around 7 Litres/100 Kms. I intend to replace mine with a new XUV500 in a couple of years time.

Thanks for the info will look at the Mahindra but what about spare parts, not a lot of dealers around if something goes wrong
