Should be fine as long as its not too out of date (less than 12 mos out of date). The expiry usually has a bit of lee way

And it will be safe to use - the worry is wether it will still be effective. If the box was stored in a cool place thats even better but if in direct sunlight not as good and you may not want to push the expiry to much

Stephen This product isnt very safe to use while it is in date, I certainly would NOT use it out of date.

Advantix for Dogs Green (Small Dog)

My poodle cross has been on Advantix for over 8 years. In the last year or so she has regularly developed blister like spots on her stomach and through her skin, She also gets ear infections and gets lethargic. My vet believes it is a food allergy and we are about to start a food trial but I feel it could be an allergy to Advantix. She does not have fleas or ticks, so it works, but I would just like some advice on whether she may now have developed an allergy to Advantix.

I have just checked my box and the tube of advantix batch number and expiry matches the box, I would say there has been a mix up at the factory and its an expired product. Still to date Advantix is working great for me I would be contacting pet stock and Bayer about there product keep the packet and and tubes with the different numbers. I hope this was helpful

Just used advantix on my 9mth old whippet, because of very short hair seems to sit on surface very hard to keep on skin, comes on anything he leans on. Any advise?

I put it on before mine go to bed and by morning it has dried into the skin. If I put it on earlier in the day they sometimes rub it off. Hope this helps.

My dog has short hair as well and extremely dense..you must part the hair as best you can, then force the tip of the applicator onto the skin. If the product works you will have success.

Well I have been using Advantix for around 10years and it still works very well. Our area has ticks all year. If it stopped working I would try another brand for awile. Our Vet reccomends Advantix.

Thanks. I've been using Advantix ever since Proban became unavailable. I also use Nexguard. Depends what's on special in EBay. I did some research on product review site and both get very poor feedback. That's why I thought I put the question out there. Cheers

Advantix for Dogs

I have today Boxing Day applied Advantix (4-40Kg) to both my 20 week old Beagles (this is not the first time) one dog had some type of reaction within minutes all the top gums swelling up and the dog going into a hyperventilated state, I took her to a vet and after a long going over could not diagnose the problem, he gave a antihistamine and cortisone injection to the dog and sent me home with her.
He advised to keep her in a dark space and watch her closely for 36 hours which I am now doing.
Could this be a reaction to the Advantix which we have been using every two weeks and should we keep using it?

Advantix is not safe and can harm your dog. It caused seizures in our dog. Wash the poison of your dogs, bath them, soak them so they are thoroughly wet, take them to have a swim. I made a complaint to Bayer, the manufacturer.

Zed49
Zed49

No stop immediately, the more you use the more it is poisoning your dog . I have been reading up a lot about this stuff and some dogs can stand it for a while then a final dose becomes to much for their body to cope with and Seizures etc start and even death :(

Advantix for Dogs

I have a 26kg dog. Up to what weight will the over 25kg pack cover ?

Buy the up to 25kg pack and see if it works. I'm sure it will be fine, out of eg 100 dogs tested they would have come up with an average score of up to 25kg that it works on. Let's not forget Bayer are a drug company and therefore it's all about money. They are very aware that lots of breeds of dogs sit just over the 25kg mark so it's good business to label one product as up to 25kg and charge more for the over 25kg product.

Think I agree with Emily. I would do the same with my dog who is 5kg and can fluctuate.

Advantix for Dogs

Hi there
I have a 4yr old male cavoodle who weighs 10kg.
Should i purchase the 5-10kg or the 10-25kg advantix for him.
What exactly is the difference in the two packs, is it only the amount or is it the strength?
Thank you

Hi, sorry I can't help you much there. I would probably use the 5-10kg strength. If you live in an area where ticks are in plague proportion I would go for the stronger dose. Check with Bayer re the strength. Cheers .

Advantix for Dogs

If its necessary to apply every two weeks, and my dog cannot be bathed or swim after use for two weeks, when can it get a chance to swim or bath? On the same day before application only?
As read on the instructions of advantix

Hi Brett, not so sure about swimming. My dog doesn't like swimming that much. My Maltese picked up two lavae paralysis ticks from Tathra Beach(NSW) after taking him for a walk about 5pm. Early the next morning he was significantly affected by the paralysis and the vet advised to use the product incase there were any more on him that I couldn't find as it would kill them. They ticks that I found were both very small.
We are from South Aust and don't have paralysis ticks here. I can't believe how quickly my dog was affected and by such small offenders. If your dog swims I would admisiter more product to be on the safe side. The agony the dog goes through and the expense (minimum$500) incase they require vet treatment far outweighs the cost of the product. Hope this helps. Kay

According to the leaflet, swimming should not be an issue. The leaflet states that your dog can only be bathed with a "soap free" shampoo 14 days afterwards. It says that swimming, getting wet by the rain etc. and using soap free shampoos are all fine.
