Doesn’t help at all against ticks

published

I bought Advantix especially to protect my dog from ticks as we are in high tick season and she had so many lately.
My dog has 23.3 kg, so is fully in the range for medium dogs (10 kg-25 kg).
I applied it properly in the neck and along the spine. That was 4 days ago. She didn’t have a bath or a swim meanwhile.
My dog is still full of happy, alive, fat ticks. I found 4 ticks alone today, 2 of them fat like a fingernail, so they had a really good meal. The effect of Advantix on ticks is zero!
I can’t talk about flees, my dog doesn’t have them, but against ticks Advantix is a waste of money.

Purchased in May 2021.

My Dog Had a Toxic Reaction

published

We purchased the product on a recommendation from the people at our Local Petco Store. The product is very expensive and made our dog sick. After a $90 Vet visit he told us this product should not be sold. In essence it created a Toxic reaction in our dog. We now have to wait and see if the condition worsens or may get better. The Vet said we will not know for another 48 hours. Heartbreaking to see how our dog is reacting to this poison. I would not recommend this to anyone.... I cant even find a way to reach someone at the company. All you get is an outside Vet line. I do't want a Vet line. I want to speak to the manufacturer. So I am out of pocket $140.00 for Product and visit to the Vet and have nothing but a sick dog.

Seizure

published

My dog charlie took a seizure for the first time in his 7 yrs yesterday while i was walking him. His blood tests were normal and he will be getting an mri, but am convinced it was the advantix i applied 48 hrs prior. Will be throwing out the remaining packet and use human grade diatomaceous earth orally and topically. Please read reviews before applying it could save your dogs life.

This product is a WASTE of your cash!

published

I bought this product, on advice from my Vet. This product cost almost $60.00.
After 48 hours, my dog has fleas!
Bayer refuses to refund my investment. I want all pet owners to know that FRONTLINE works 100% of the time as costs less per dose.
Do NOT waste your time or money. Do NOT leave your pet in misery. Buy a product that WORKS and the manufacture stands behind with a money back guarantee. Do NOT purchase Advantix II by Bayer for your dog.
Most Sincerely,
Serpentkeeper

Thriving fleas after 2 month treatment

published

For the price tag you would think this product works! On the first application, most fleas disappeared now on the second month treatment they are thriving. Either the fleas built up a tolerance for the poison or the product is useless. Buy at your own risk!

Works every time.

published

Every 6 months or so my blue heeler gets infested with fleas so I put Advantix on him and in a couple of days he is back to normal for another 6+ months. He hasn't had any side effects from this product at all in the 8 years he has used it.

POISON TO DOGS

published

I gave this to my miniature Schnauzer and my silky terrier, on several occasions about 5 months apart..Both dogs have come out in ferociously itchy welts and hives as well as tiny pimply things... They are lethargic, sad and not themselves. The schnauzer normally jumps off the walls of the house but now she won't play at all and keeps itching her neck and shoulders. She also came out in a massive welt that swelled to about the size of a human palm! . THis reaction carries on until i can get the dog into the bath and scrub it off their skin.

Nothing else in their environment has changed at all. So it must be this product...

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

Awful product and horrible customer service

published

Ineffective and horrible customer service. Would not recommend. This is a complete waste of money. Called the company to let them know and they refused to give me my money back.

WHY is this still on the market!!?

published

Do not use this on your pets! Dogs sick. Irritated skin. Fleas still running rampid after 4 days. Back to revolution for me!

Very disappointing pet owner

published

I bought K9 advantix 2 for my shitzu only for her to continue to suffer with a flea problem. My dog Ginger is allergic to fleas, just one flee on her will make her itch herself to the scalp. I bought this product with the catchy label of "repeals and kills" only to find that was quite untrue. I have been putting this product on her every two weeks for the past 4 weeks with consistent baths, scratching never ending. I warn pet owners not to buy this product for the sanity of your pet. Last year I bought her a generic brand at Walmart. She was happy and flee free, not miserable like on advantix. Trust me on this, if you love your pet, don't waste your money.

Red raw skin and loss of hair

published

I used this on our 14 year old Jack Russell and the reaction was almost immediate. The skin at the application site became red and inflamed. His hair in the area fell out and he suffered from an involuntary movement of his head which went on for at least a week. After a few days we soaked him in an oatmeal bath and the inflammation lessened. I spend $80 on this treatment. It damaged my dog bringing him great discomfort and the other two tubes are unusable. Should be taken off the market.

Caused permanent skin twitch

published

I used this product for several months on my tan and white beagle puppy. I did not make the connection, at first, that the Advantix was causing skin twitching on his back. By the third month, I could not pat him on the back without the twitch. When I described the problem to my vet, she confirmed that neurological issues were reported with Advantix, particularly in smaller, white dogs. My dog is now almost three years old. The skin twitch lessened immediately following cessation of Advantix, but continues to this day. Not recommended for smaller, white dogs.

bad for dogs with sensitive skin

published

Our 11month old Cavoodle has used this product twice before visiting my parents at my tambourine as we are anxious about ticks. Sadly after correct application Ollie found the area intolerably itchy & irritating, constantly trying to scratch & rub the area in any way he could. This lasts until I can bath him 48 hours later.... Not good. It is obviously extremely sore for him so although we still have 4 very expensive vials left we can't continue it.... May have to go an oral tablet & keep clear of Bayer in case similar elements.

expensive, irritating to our dog preventing future use

This product is terrible......

published

I purchased the 4kg - 10kg Advantix for my foxie/russell cross. Usually my dog is full of beans, loves to swim, play frisbie, chase ball etc.... I applied the stuff yesterday round 11am. Around 8pm the same night he was a different doggie i.e. vomitting, shaking and generally out of sorts. After nursing him all night, he is not much better today.... very lethargic with no appetite...... Never again will i purchase this product.

I am 99% sure this product was what caused my doggie to have a nasty reaction and leave him out of sorts.

BE Warned this is a Terrible product...

Does not work

published

Three months ago I bought a six month supply of "Advantic" for my small dog [6 ] kg' I have applied the product as instructed. My dog has picked up ticks every week [up to 12 ticks] since using this product. I believe it is useless and has no effect at all.

It does not work at all

Very poor performance

published

I treated my 9.2 kg dog with the 5-10 kg Advantix 12 days ago and have just seen two fleas on her. I am definitely not impressed and will not be purchasing this expensive product again.
I am considering a return to good old flea powder. This works well so long as it is used regularly once a week. For a smallish dog, it's best to apply the powder and work it through the coat, then wrap the animal in an old towel with just the head out for a few minutes. After this time the fleas will be dead and the powder can be brushed out of the coat.

Expensive, and didnt do what it is supposed to.
