Terrible: Poor design and poorly put together
Seasoned 3 times only to return it immediately as it was leaking from the seams (and had holes in the PVC floor that ironically let the water back out). Replacement was no better, holes in the PVC floor again and the stitching was very poor so straight back for a refund! The design itself is limited, there is only one option for ventilation as realistically the wind doesn't come from above, therefore it would be particularly uncomfortable in warmer weather as the sides block any breeze. It's therefore best suited to cooler weather but it is use...Read more
less for this purpose coming out of the factory with holes all over it and seams that leak. Whilst the returns process was relatively painless and customer service was excellent I can not recommend this product. Spend a small amount more elsewhere for better quality and functionality. If you were really tight on funds you could remedy these issues with gorilla tape and some wax for the seams but you will still have the ventilation issue for warmer temps.Purchased in September 2021 for A$129.00.

Escape single swag. Good Swag - well priced
Adventure Kings - Escape Single Swag. Sold by 4wd Supercentre.
I purchased the Kings single swag about 2 years ago, overall = good gear at a good price. I've used a couple of different brands over many years. You won't be disappointed with the Kings swag, there are pro's & con's with all gear. The good points are nicely made with a PVC waterproof base - a reasonable foam mattress - nice HD canvas - good mesh ( very important ! if want to keep the midge's out) - a great bag to put it in, well thought out - waterproof. Not bad points, but ju...Read more
st a little thing they may of considered would be a window / vent at the foot end to improve ventilation & the main canvas cover uses Velcro to close it, a HD zip would of been better. But I paid about $150 for this swag ( very good value), but I would of been just as happy paying a bit more for the extra vent / zip etc. But they are made to keep within a price range I guess. I've used mine on beach trips & every night for 3 weeks while doing a recent Cape York trip. Can't complain. TIP: when packing it up as you dismantle the poles slide them in the sewn in pole holder ( 3 x different lengths) then roll it up. When touring & unpacking to set up each night ( particularly if its dark) you won't be jigging around trying to sort which pole goes where. Saves 5 mins or so. Also like all canvas products, preshrink your swag - set it up & give it a light hose before use, this'll let the stitching shrink around all seams to improve the water proofing. Just another little tip: I'm 60 next year so getting in & out ( from ground level) is a challenge on the back etc some cold mornings. I set mine up on a single stretcher bed. This way 1/ your off the ground 2/ at a much "smoother" level getting in/out. 3/ you won't be packing a swag away with a damp or wet base. Any questions pls feel free to ask - happy touring. Hi
Just wondering if we can still purchase the head loops for the single swag that has head loops middle loops and feet loops
This swag is just over 12 mths old and when purchased the head loops were broken. We then sent back to you guys and after about three months and a lot of emails we finally recieved the loops and when unpacking they were the loops for the feet. When I say loops I mean the loops that go over the feet the head and the middle of the swag
I was wondering if you guys still have spare parts for these swags and if so can I purchase these online
Cheers brad

G’day Brad, this has come to me (Shane) one of the reviewers- not 4wd super centre. Give them a ring tomorrow, I’m sure they would have parts. If not I’ve seen universal poles ( loops) at BCF that you can trim / adjust to fit. Happy touring. Cheers Shane

Hi I received one of your big daddy swags for Christmas, seasoned it well and have just come away camping and had a night of rain. Along the sides along the bottom zip the mattress is damp and the corners seem to be letting in water and the underside corners of the mattress is wet? Is my product faulty or not seasoned properly?

Hi Abbey, hard to say - could be either. But, I've had a couple of the Kings swags & for the $$ sometimes are not 100% perfect. 2 things - in the corners of the swags if you can see pin point ( stitch ) holes what I do it run a smooth slice of silicon on the in/ out side. I've had one that did & one that didn't - that fixes any issues. If you have a hole where you could say put a match through it - its faulty.
Pre-shrinking your canvas - drench it !, take out the mattress and soak it ( inside & out ) I do mine 3 or 4 times. that also works really well. I work on the theory for a $160 swag vs a $ 600 swag for a little bit of touch ups - I can work with that.
So - ( if you want) touch up the corners with a touch of silicone ( in & out) - if very small pin holes. Soak it - in and out a few times, I mean really get the water in it - it'll preshrink. I think you'll find she'll be right. Another tip, I put mine ( what ever brand I'm using ) on a stretcher, keeps it off the ground.
Happy touring & camping .
Cheers
Shane.

I recently returned from a three week trip, the final week was non stop rain, so did not use that week, or unpack the swag until home. Even though swag itself was well-seasoned before embarking, upon arriving home, swag canvas at foot and internally mattress and blankets were very damp. How would you recommend to waterproof the swag bag that came with the Escape Swag to eliminate this issue?

Hi, yep after a week in the rain ( on your roof rack ?) I can probably see that happening. The bag material would be waterproof, but you've had slight seepage through the zip. I always try to keep my swag / pillows / sleeping bag etc in the back of my dual cab to prevent mainly dust getting into them but also water. When I'm with a mate who hasn't got a dual cab or space inside that means roof rack. I use a wheelie bin liner to put the bag in when in really dusty long haul runs. This would also prevent water seepage through the zips. I hope this helps - Cheers Shane.
Thank you Shane. I'll try that.
you can use wax from any good camping store to waterproof the bag seams and vasoline on the zip (not too much or it will attract dust)
