I was told by they Claim Team I cant claim because the Inverter is to old .. where does my new for old Content .insurance come into operation? I am so frighten now that if my property should burn down what will I be allow to claim...
by careful. with Budget Direct...Cant wait for the policy to end.
I was told my claim would not be approved so I didn't waste time in filling out a claim form This is what I was told by the Claim Team

Very hard to deal with. Only nice to you when they want something out of you
Policy is a waste of money, only good for 12 months. I only picked it because of inexperience I needed one to get over my finance. it was the cheapest at the time & now I know why its the cheapest. It is not worth it. If you're looking for one, look somewhere else. Property manager think they're very hard to deal with.

House burnt down they won’t pay a cent
Our home burnt down in December. We lost everything. They rejected our claim. We engaged lawyers and have spent $20k fighting this so far.
They refuse to pay out our policy.
They are scumbags.

Terrible service made a claim 3mths ago and still waiting. Feel like I’m running around in circles So bad
My roof is full grey with the blue tarps they have put on roof months ago and they are telling me my roof needs maintenance. The photoS they sent me shows a brown roof which isn’t my roof and the other photo with the car in the background half of that photo is my roof the car photo. The cracks, I think they are taking about is the join from my gutter mesh to the roof tiles. It’s no crack it’s just the join of the gutter mesh to roof tiles. All I want is my roof fixed as it’s damaged from storm. A roofer told me our whole roof shifted in the storm Budget don’t want to pay.

Do not use Budget Direct!
It has now been over a month since I made a claim, terrible service throughout and after all this I have been told my claim is rejected. This could happen to you! My experience: 6 weeks ago, most houses in my flat street flooded due to a storm event. Every other insurer has paid out except Budget Direct. The assessor from Budget Direct came out and said my claim would be covered. Restorers came out and said not to use the air conditioner and that inside and outside furniture or anything porous like rugs should be thrown out because it has been...Read more
flooded by contaminated water. That all made sense and is what happened to neighbours too, but Budget Direct are now refusing to pay out. They have used a loophole to say there was a building defect in one room's floor level because they found it is a few cm below the pavers outside. We had at least 22cm of flooding so regardless of this, our property would have flooded. In addition, when the assessor told me about the floor level he said there is no way I could have known that room was not built to building code and that I have done everything right by getting a building and pest report upon purchase. The assessor even said to me in person that the insurance would be paid because I am at no fault. There is also damage to outside furniture/ electrical equipment from the flooding but Budget Direct just said they will close the claim. I will now have to take this further, meanwhile my neighbours who are with AAMI, RACQ etc are already getting their houses repaired. My advice is don't use this insurer.Similar opinion? Absolutely fuming that they have refused to renew our home insurance but will not give me a reason !!! We have never claimed a cent through insurance in the nearly 3 yrs we have owned it and they will not tell me why we are now all of a sudden un-insurable ?????????? DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY

Home & Contents Insurance
Budget Direct seems to be 100% stable enough & viable enough for my Home & Contents needs.
Overall high reviews from most that have given their experiences with Budget Direct H&C.
If offered a better deal from any other Australian Home & Contents Insurance I may re consider otherwise no.

Beware, they prey on the most vulnerable.
After Recent Storms, my parents who are pensioners were left with a damaged roof. They had contacted Budget Direct and had been told somebody will be there in 2 days. After 4 weeks and multiple phone calls later a builder had rocked up had a look and told them to leave immediately as the roof could collapse. It was extremely dangerous for my parents to stay in their home. A Couple of days later the roof did indeed collapse. They were moved to temporary accommodation while they assessed the claim. We were told that an Engineer would be onsite ...Read more
on Monday 2nd March. We waited a while and made a phone call to the insurance company to see where the engineer was. We had been assured an Engineer would be meeting us at my parents home to assess the roof. He had been booked in for 9am. I called and was told that the insurance company had not sent them the address and could not book anyone in. Once i got back to the insurance company to advise them of the issue, i also clearly made them aware that the roof had partially collapsed now and there was rain forecast that week. It was imperitive they send someone to Tarp the house or the house would flood inside. This had become URGENT. He advised me that he had spoken with the builder and that it was all fine, i let him know that the situation had now changed since he was out last and that there were large gaps in the roof due to the partial collapse. He advised me that he can only take the builders advice and that it was not required. I called the Builder and told him what the Insurer had said and he was furious at what they told me that he apparently said. The builder had advised them that the situation had changed. It had worsened. He advised me to call the insurers back and insist with urgency that they organise to have the roof tarped as soon as possible. I called back and was assured, they would ‘get onto it.’ 2 Days Later and NO tarp. the rains have come and completely ruined all the plaster, ceiling and Timber flooring. I called once again to let them know that now not only the roof was collapsed but the rain had totally destroyed the inside of the house. I was told not to worry as they will cover the damages the rain caused as it was too unsafe to have the Tarp put on. That afternoon builders had arrived from the Insurer and put a Tarp on the roof. I Do not Understand how they can say it was to unsafe but then Organise to have somebody install the Tarp. Something that should have been done 2 days prior avoiding all the extra damage inside the house now. Wednesday the Engineer finally arrived to assess the roof. i knew from the start this guy did not know what hd was doing. he had come to assess a roof yet did not even bring a ladder to get up there and have a look. He walked around the bottom of the house, took some photos from below and told me he had to call someone that k new more about roofs. really??!! So the Budget Direct Engineer, has come to my parents ruined home and has basically not assessed anything because of the severity of the situation, yet he has submitted a report with his assessment. Apparently he knows how and why my parents roof collapsed. We now have been notified that they have rejected the claim and will not be paying anything out, including all the damages inside the house caused by their delay. They have said that they have looked on google earth from 2018 and have noticed a slight bow in the roof and that it was not structurally sound in the first place and that was the main cause of the roof failure, - not the Gail forced winds we experienced that uprooted hundreds of trees and caused so much damage around Sydney that afternoon in January this year.1 comment

nd my father still week from radiation therapy for cancer a couple of years back. We have lodged with the internal dispute department and are waiting on them to make a decision. From some of the comments above it looks like all they are denying all claims regardless. They have now offered to pay back the last 2 years of payments made by my parents to budget direct. So they are OK with taking payments from from the elderly until something actually happens, then they reject a claim and offer to pay back the 2 yearly installments.Similar opinion? Honest REVIEW !
Lady was polite, great, and explained everything though honestly Biggest stuff around on sign up just to make sure I have everything included and all my past claims on their etc then they said they need to review it and make a decision, I’m not going for a loan, I just wanted to transfer to a cheaper provider . Therefore I have decided to stay with RACQ and pay the extra $30 a month for the piece of mind that everything is on their system and I’m covered for EVERYTHING + extras without needing to worry .I can vouch this is a honest review and id say unless you havnt made any claims on home and contents I’d stay with your current provider .

Absolutely terrible! Avoid at all cost!
Do not choose Budget Direct! My neighbour's old Queenslander burnt down 8 weeks ago killing her. My neighbouring property suffered asbestos contamination and smoke damage. They declined my claim because there was no flame/fire at my property. $30k contents rejected twice and offered me $2k. Disgusting! Budget Direct made a traumatic experience worse. Shame on you.

Horrible experience with claim advisor Julie
I had home and content insurance policy with budget direct and been paying them all the while but when wanted to claim, the experience was horrible. I sympathise with those who get in touch with the claim advisor with the name of Julie.
She does not listen to the customers and badly needs some training. was always in a hurry without listening to me. Spend 2.5 hrs with 4 different calls and a promise from their customer service agent that the claims manager would call back. Didn’t receive any and when I contacted back guess what, I got connected to same Julie and my horrible experience with her resumed.
This much to withdraw the claim and cancel policy.
Would never ever go back to budget direc

You made it so easy, compared with my old insurer!
First time with insurance company this year, had been with previous insurer for 32 years. Their premiums continue to climb while there benefits fall each time the new policy is renewed.

Seems a very fair policy.
Good price and easy to complete policy.
The proof of the pudding will be next years renewal- proving you can keep prices around CPI living growth increases you will prove to me that you care and understand how the world should be helping all.

Horrible
Very cheap policy which is why I signed up with Budget. Totally waste of money as they do not want to help you when you need to claim. I had an awful woman who over and over was saying that this doesnt make sense as though I was lying because the claim to fix a door was so expensive. She would not believe that the wind did blow the door shut causing damage. Clearly this was a young person who has no life experience or she has KPI's to reject claims. My front door is expensive as there is an automatic locking system which is why the quote to fix was so high. I ended up not being able to claim and cancelled my policy but still had to pay for the time I was with them even though they wouldn't cover me. Worst company I have dealt with.

Hi Jimmy,
I'm both sorry and surprised to hear that your claim was rejected as described.
If I'm understanding your review correctly, Budget Direct has denied a claim for theft and vandalism based on your roof being of a different material to the one you declared? If so they are likely in violation of section 54 of the Insurance Contract Act.
In case you haven't already, you can have your claim reviewed by:
1) lodging a complaint with the insurer's internal dispute resolution service. If that fails -
2) escalate by complaining to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority.
It may also be worth getting legal advice.
Let us know how you get on.

Two days since my question was asked on the same subject.
Surely someone can give us some information re Budget Direct renewal procedures- particularly a representative from Budget Direct.
no they send out the renewal notice first which tells you your new price and the date it will be deducted
Was talking to them on the phone few days ago and they do have a''auto renewal system '' which you can opt out of BUT MAKE SURE you ask for it if and when you purchase the insurance
MONTROSEasked
From reading the comments re renewals:
- do Budget Direct automatically try to charge your annual cost from your account?
- or do they send out renewal documents advising the new renewal prices and you then choose if you wish to renew?

no they give you a few weeks notice of your new premium being deducted and the price
Thanks for your reply.
This was the only major issue that we had with changing to Budget Direct and suspect this may be an issue if you pay monthly. As we pay annually we hope this will not happen without prior notification.
It was interesting to see that someone else had the same question. Hopefully, there will be confirmation on this site from Budget Direct regarding the renewal process.
