Good value home insurance
Easy to obtain a quote, very competitive and certainly a lot better than my previous company who hiked their rates by a massive 22 percent in one hit, hopefully that will not happen next year

Reduced inclusions and significantly increased policy cost
After a few attempts of speaking to someone - finally spoke to someone who was able to tell me that as we had a discount on policy last year we couldn’t this year ( been a customer for 6 years ) stated that the new customer discount for both policies were 30% off and this had already been applied hahaha - imagine how much it would have been increased then - we are good customers who pay on time and I will be taking my business elsewhere ! Poor communication form service team as well online and returning phone calls !

False advertising. Baiting clients and wasting your time.
The online quote was $980pa and included disclosure of 1 claim ~ 5 years ago. Quoted $980. On accepting the quote they added $307 for updating claim was 1 broken window 5-6ya. I asked what would have kept the premium at $980.... Nothing. Wow! They tell me they’ll forward my complaint to senior management but admitted quotes are always increased when you put in the details. What a waste of time. Rename?? Budget InDirect!

Disgusting, DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!
They will find a way not to cover the damage, they are fantastic at taking your money, yet horrible at backing you up.
Do not hire this mob of cowboys, not worth it!

A sneaky 30% increase
30% increase ($1260 to $1620) where I have made no claims in a year. It's a sneaky increase, and they put you on another 12 month contract. I can take the 30% increase, or I can take the 12 month contract extension, but not both.

Increase.
Budget Direct are increasing my house and content insurance by 30%. Nothing has changed for this to happen. No claims made either. They can’t give me any valid reason or explanation. Has this happened to anyone else?

Absolutely Disgusting Service
Budget insurance solutions teams are too slow. They lies over and over for any process. Absolutely Disgusting service. They are less than 1 STAR SERVICE. Forget about AAMI, NRMA. I couldn't even compare them with Woolworths, Coles, Bingle and Progressive Insurance. They are super delay for any process. If they even offer you any discount gift card and other offered DO NOT take them. Any Claim processed are disgusting and Don't even Follow their own guidelines. So, be aware and careful with Budget Direct Insurance.. If you have policy with them. I strongly recommend you to cancel the policy and Switch with others . Thank You All.

Huge Premium Increase on First renewal. any one else had same? no claims made.
we insured our brand new house with Budget Direct after much research (perhaps not enough?).
initial premium was $721.80
No claims have been made.
first renewal - the premium has been increased to $1082.00
Thats a 49.9 percent increase which feels like a scam to me,
anyone else had a similar experience?
I am taking this matter to Choice, but would appreciate any comments. ...Read more
we have cancelled our policy and will look elsewhere. Interestingly - The vast majority of 5 star reviews on here are from people who have never made a claim but are very happy about how pleasantly and efficiently Budget Direct took their money (premiums)Try reading the ONE STAR reviews. The people who made a claim or got massive increases in their second year premiums. Focus on how well they perform when insurance claims are made - not how nicely they take your money!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I am so glad I got a quote and more than halved my previous premium
It was very easy to get quote online 24 x 7. As I am in W.A. And I had not heard of this company before - I did some research and Money Magazine awards an reviews reassured me that this is a legitimate company with low premiums. I was given all the policy information in a simple English format and fully understood the cover and T&Cs.

Cheapest premium.
Purchased on highly competitive price and very good reputation of Budget Direct after checking comparison with other insurers and Budget Direct web site. My previous insurer had increased premium substantually and my saving was around $800 a year by changing to Budget Direct.

Not as good value as led to believe
My policy ended up more expensive than my previous insurer. If I had known this, I would not have moved from QBE. I am hoping my premium goes down in 2020 substantially or I will be going back to ABe

Hi Jimmy,
I'm both sorry and surprised to hear that your claim was rejected as described.
If I'm understanding your review correctly, Budget Direct has denied a claim for theft and vandalism based on your roof being of a different material to the one you declared? If so they are likely in violation of section 54 of the Insurance Contract Act.
In case you haven't already, you can have your claim reviewed by:
1) lodging a complaint with the insurer's internal dispute resolution service. If that fails -
2) escalate by complaining to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority.
It may also be worth getting legal advice.
Let us know how you get on.

( From reading the comments on this site, I am concerned about going with Budget for House and Contents insurance which we pay annually - sounds like they just think they can draw on your account for the next years renewal cost. )

Two days since my question was asked on the same subject.
Surely someone can give us some information re Budget Direct renewal procedures- particularly a representative from Budget Direct.
no they send out the renewal notice first which tells you your new price and the date it will be deducted
Was talking to them on the phone few days ago and they do have a''auto renewal system '' which you can opt out of BUT MAKE SURE you ask for it if and when you purchase the insurance
MONTROSEasked
From reading the comments re renewals:
- do Budget Direct automatically try to charge your annual cost from your account?
- or do they send out renewal documents advising the new renewal prices and you then choose if you wish to renew?

no they give you a few weeks notice of your new premium being deducted and the price
Thanks for your reply.
This was the only major issue that we had with changing to Budget Direct and suspect this may be an issue if you pay monthly. As we pay annually we hope this will not happen without prior notification.
It was interesting to see that someone else had the same question. Hopefully, there will be confirmation on this site from Budget Direct regarding the renewal process.
