We've had ours for about years. Problem is that the lever won't stay down when the pod is in place. The lever wants to spring back so you have to lean quite hard to hold it down while making the coffee. Rang the Support number and was told they had never heard of such a ;problem.

NO. But we continue to use (as a second unit elsewhere) and just keep pressing on the lever. The newer unit is still OK.

Ive heard you can buy cleaning pods for my old aldi machine to clean out the pipes and residue that will stop the pod despenser from poping up all the time is this true ?

Yes you can. They are usually the same price as the coffee pods for 4 cleaning pods and are called Cleaning Capsules, they're recommended to use monthly depending on the standard use of the machine.

Hey Janiene,

I'm sorry if this sounds like a stupid suggestion but is there enough water in the water container?
Is the water container correctly seated on its base and clicked in place? Also try doing this again even if it is, sometimes this could solve it alone.
Have you turned the machine on?

If yes to all the above, then your internal water pump is probably air-locked.

Follow these instructions to prime the water pump:

To prime the water pump and get water into it:

Step 1: Raise the top lever on your Expressi coffee machine

Step 2: Press the water pour button once. You will hear the motor or pump in the machine start up

Step 3: Push the top lever back a bit further, it will go about half an inch beyond from upright position.

Step 4: After a second or so you will hear and see water start to flow through the Expressi machine

Step 5: Close the top lever back down to its normal horizontal position

Hi Maria thank you for getting back to me yes there is plenty of water in the container, I have tried all of the above it makes like a humming noise and the little round outlet at the bottom of the water container is up. The water will just not flow (Beats me)

What does it mean when my machine is smoking more than normal?

1 answer
GB

Not sure what you say about "Smoking" unless you are referring to the "Steam" coming off the coffee dribbling out? I would buy some "DE-scaler" for the machine, follow the instructions and put it through as it may have a build up of Lime around the heater from the water. Rinse your machine out thoroughly afterwards and test the hot water quality coming out of the machine before using it again.

I have had 2 of these machines - one being a warranty replacement and which was obtained 18 months or so ago - it would be the 'old model'. From almost day 1 it has shared an issue with the old machine - water (coffee coloured) leaks out of the bottom of the machine and requires constant cleaning of the kitchen counter. I persist only because I love the coffee flavour. Would a new machine cure this problem or are they overall worse than the old ones, as some reviews suggest?

We've had 3 Expressi machines over the past 3 years. The first one was doing what your machine is doing, leaking the water all over the kitchen bench. We took it back to the store and exchanged it for another one.

Each time you express a coffee pod, there will be a small amount of water that drips into your drip tray. Make sure the tank is fitted properly and you secure the pod tightly with the lever down. If it is a large amount ring the Warranty Hotline. If you have mislaid your warranty card go into Aldi as it is on the box of new machines.

Mine has been leaking lately as well. Water all over the bench top after I use the rinse cycle. One earlier post mentioned rinsing with the handle in the down position - I always rinse with the handle up. I will try with the handle down & see if it makes a difference.

Our old Aldi machine (had it for 2? years) recently started to leak, and it gradually became worse, so we replaced it with the less than satisfactory 2015? model. I have read ?somewhere? that internal seals eventually perish and fail - sounds feasible, but not sure. Also - if you leave the capsule-loading handle up, they seem to leak then.

You might be trying to make your coffee before the machine is ready. When you turn the machine on you need to wait for a little bit for the machine to heat up. Then press the rinse button, then press the mug size button to make your coffee. Hope this helps :)

If you're finding water in the drip tray / pod catcher and a lot of steam coming out from the handle base, you might be having same problem as me. I think the manufacture of the pods has changed (I'm checking with Aldi to confirm). It seems as though the new pods are harder to puncture, meaning that initially, water goes everywhere but through the pod. A previous post suggested puncturing pod with a pin before dropping it in. I'll try that and see if it works.

On our K Fee machine the mechanism that spikes the pod does not seem to pivot and the lever springs open, I think it's jammed. Does this mean it's unrepairable? Machine is about 2 years old.

1 answer
Oz

Moving parts are a bit of an issue with any cheap appliance as they're made from plastics that don't last. Pod jamming can occur if you haven't emptied the old ones, so that's the first thing to check. Next, I'd poke around a bit to see if there's any obvious obstruction that can be cleared. As for repair work, forget it; I tried to inspect/repair an old model and they're notoriously difficult to disassemble. It would be hard to open the casing to get access to the pod delivery mechanism. It may be time to replace this machine with a new one as they're inexpensive.

My Expressi machine does not dispense a cup of either large or small cup via those 2 buttons. To get it to work I have to push the water dispenser button first & when that stops push the cup size. What am I doing wrong? The machine is only 3 weeks old. Model no. N19514

You have to press the bottom button to rinse it through when you turn the machine on, then you put the pod in and select your cup size.

surf54
surf54

Exactly what Jennifer writes the ALDI k-fee system forces you into rinsing when you switch it on, so what you are experiencing is normal.

Oz

I agree with both answers. An initial rinse removes any impurities that you don't want in your cup of coffee. We run that rinse BEFORE inserting a pod. Then it's ready to start your first cup of coffee. Rinsing is not necessary between cups if you're preparing more than one. You should also rinse into a spare receptacle after the last cup is made.

I also have the problem with pods being harder to pierce by the Kfee machine and consequently there is a back flow of water and the kitchen top floods. The machine I put in my office at work does the same thing. It seems to be linked to the new kind of pods, that are "now more intense." It doesn't happen with the old pods. Could it be that the plastic of the pods was toughened?

I did have that problem with an older machine after I used the chocolate pods. I noticed they were a few millimetres smaller than the coffee pods and emailed Aldi about it.

I wonder if that was just a coincidence, though, and that the piercing spikes become blunt over time.

Possible sending an email to Aldi may help with this, or calling their customer service department.

Hey I have same problem with new pods. My machine has always had a leak. It's almost out of warranty but Aldi are giving me a refund as I have all paperwork an I'll be replacing it with the new coffee machine from Aldi on sale next Wednesday.

I have the same problem and it seems to only be with the new pods. I also thought it was the piercing spike getting blunt as my machine is over 2 years old but never had any problems with it otherwise. I was just about to go get another machine but after reading this im not so sure...Hope they'll get back to the old pods as well as their selection range..they used to have lots of different coffees to choose from. Maybe its time to move on from the good old Expressi

I love my machine, which incidentally does not leak!!! but after 18 months and only being used a few times a week for about 1 year, it now does not work. I turn it on, wait for all lights to come on, press the button for cleaning, wait, put the pod in and it will not make a coffee on either small or large cup "button" lights flash but nothing happens.!! Any suggestions besides getting a new one? - coffee and my Grandson loves his hot chokkie!!!

I believe Aldi gives a 3 year warranty on the machines so its worth ringing them. We've become accustomed to keeping copies of receipts for all purchases we make these days. Its become a necessary habit to get into.
