Hi I bought my Ambiano vacuum sealer a fair while ago from Aldi's but hadn't been able to used it until now, it vacuumed and sealed a half a dozen bags and then stopped working I have left it two days before trying again and it still won't work when you press the vac and seal button or just the seal button help what could be the problem? thanks

You must press the vac only, you press the seal just in case you want to seal an opened end after cutting.
Enjoy it.

in the book it saids you can seal eggs but it does not say how to do it, any help? thank you

You tube has videos on how to do it. Are the eggs cooked, raw, hard boiled? It shows how but for one egg just put in bag and Vacuum. The shell of an egg is pretty strong and does not break when you vacuum pack it.
I just tried with 1 egg and it went fine. Or I daresay you could vacuum pack a dozen in their carton for safer travelling.

Does the thickness of the bags make any difference to the machine's ability to vacuum and seal? I have rolls purchased from a wholesaler & the Ambiano machine won't vacuum or seal using these rolls but will using the brand that came with the machine. Is this a marketing ploy to make us use the more expensive bags?

I bought rolls from eBay. I’ve only used the bags that came with the machine the first uses. All bags after that we’re made from the cheap eBay rolls. If thickness is a problem I haven’t encountered it. Perhaps your bags are leaking somehow

When I use the Vacuum & Seal Button, the food sealer will continually vacuum out the air, but does not stop to seal the bag. I have to stop the vacuum process and seal the bag with the Seal Button. Is the product not working properly or is there something I need to do differently?

If the plastic is completely straight without any folds, and there is nothing alas caught in the channel, there is probably a hole in the bag. If you made the bag from a roll then make sure the other end is sealed properly. If you used a pre made bag I have no other suggestions.

Grandpa Can Cook

I agree with alanz's reply
But would also add check to make sure that the entire (end you are sealing) is in the channel. Sometimes we have a little hanging on the top of the channel (through) or sometimes, particularly if the bag is pretty filled and the food is real close to the machine a bit from the middle will pull out of the channel and the vacuuming will never be complete.
If you are following all the above it would indicate that you have a faulty machine.

If you are using a roll a good test would be to put a double seal on the bottom of the bag, leave about 3 inches between the food and the top of the bag. Then vacuum seal according directions. If that bag doesn't seal after it is fully vacuumed you can be pretty sure there is something wrong with the machine.

I found that the seal around the lid was coming away from the lid. This means no seal would develop. I'm taking mine back today :(

I just used my ambiano vac and seal for the first time. I am having the same problem I saw above, of. It not sealing when I use the vac and seal button. I have tried everything I could think of to get it to work, to no avail. Is it defective?

i don't think it will seal it there are any kinks in the plastic bag. make sure there are no kinks by pulling the bag firmly at each side as you lay it over the vacuum channel. when you close the lid it should lock. Try pressing down firmly on the lid after pressing the vac/seal button. Also, the bag contents have to be well clear of the part of the bag to be sealed. give that a try. i found this video on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQxhfgD9Aoc

Louie Malteser

A few things you may want to try. I know this may sound silly but first check there are no holes in the bag or the bottom. I agree with Alanz reply, make sure that the top is well stretched out. Another thing regarding sealing, make sure that both bag surfaces are dry. I run a paper towel across them; if the food you are wanting to seal has moistened the surface, it won't seal. And finally make certain the bag has not gone to far into the sealing chamber. Mine is still going "gangbusters" so persevere once you work it out, you'll never regret having bought it. Hope this helps.

I have done all of the above numerous times. I' bagged and sealed about 25 packages and could not get one to work with vac and seal button.

I have followed all the instructions and the trouble shooter guide. My attempts to vac and seal don't seem to have taken most of the air out, Am I expecting too much. Also when it says make sure it is UNDER the suction nozzle 18, does it mean laying over it as you would not be able to get it under? Thanks

If you press vac and seal it will suck all the air out but you can’t have any creases. It has to be dead flat. The seal-only button is for creating bags if you don’t buy ready made, but only have the rolls. You could also try YouTube.

DMCD

Thanks I did manage to realise what I done wrong, it was the placement within the suction groove. Thanks

Another trick I discovered is keeping separate pieces of food (ie: chicken breasts/chops) as close together as possible this leaves less gaps for air to be trapped in. Also if the bag is still too wide, once the food is in, lessen the width by making a new side seal with the seal only function to tailor the bag to the size which suits the best and the suck and seal as per normal. It really works well. One more thing you can buy the plastic rolls at K Mart and they work well. Hope this helps. Cheers, Louie

They use a lot of different bags. Not a bad idea to check the width to make sure they fit. I have used the Sunbeam, food saver bags with no problems, I have also use generic ones that I purchased an e-bay.
But whenever Aldi has them I buy ithem, and call my daughter, son, grandson and daughters and grand son to see if they would like me to pick them up some.

Louie Malteser
Louie Malteser

I bought extra bags from Aldi when they had a run as yet I haven't run out but
I believe different brands work as long as the width is the same

Would that be Mill (USA Mills of an inch) Or international mill as in MM (Millimeters)

Terry. The width of the seal is 3 mm, about 1/8 of an inch. I am picking up some mylar type bags in a couple of days so I'll let you know it it works on them.

My new one vacuums the bag, but does not automatically seal. The seal works if that is all I have done. I have to stop the vacuum and hit seal button, but some air gets in then. What am I doing wrong?

1 answer
Louie Malteser
Louie Malteser

You may not be inserting the bag far enough into the vacuum chamber. Also make certain that you press the vacuum and seal switch. Sometimes if the edge of the bag has some residue of whatever it is you are wanting to pack it stops the bag from making a tight seal particularly if it is "wet" food suck as meat products. What I do is to run a folded piece of absorbent paper between the edges of the bag. You also need to make certain you that use the normal setting for "wet" products otherwise all the air will not suck out. It's a bit of trial and error at first but once you iron out the "teething" problems it works great. Took me a few times to get it right. Hope I've been of help. Cheers.

Is it possible to seal potato chip bags also?

I've never done it but I would have to say "no". I assume you are talking about crisps and if you are I should imagine you would wind up with potato crumbs even if you used the gentle setting. Hope it helps.

My sister has a sealer that you don't suck the air out you just seal the bag after every use.

Grandpa Can Cook
Grandpa Can Cook

I use my Aldi- Sealer to seal potato chip bags. I push the air out with my hands and hit the seal only button. In fact some bags will not vacuum, but may seal. I also use it the same way on tortillas and other stuff. Works on some and not on others. I do not seal of very flimsy bags, because I'm scared the bag might melt.
I don't know if you would void your warranty using it on chip bags, but my machine is well out of warranty and I have pretty much always seal the chips, crisp bags.

PS. If you are talking about frozen french fries, it will not work if the bag is too cold or too wet.
I hope this helps

I don't really have an answer to this. I stocked up when Aldi had a second run. I was wondering myself whether any brand is compatible, I should imagine it all would be a similar type of material and the process should work the same way. Just surmising. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Although they are more expensive I have been able to use my Aldi vacuum sealer with sunbeam food saver bags. I have also used some that I bought on ebay. I don't remember who I bought them off. They worked.
Maily like Louie I always make sure to stock up when Aldi is selling the bags. Last time I bought 4 double boxes of the 5 metre rolls. If I use the bags for dry, non-greasy or packaged goods I reuse them.

Kmart $15 for two large rolls!

I live in Australia and mine came with a hose. In fact the one I bought 3 1/2 years ago, also, came with a hose. Also came with one vacuum wine sealer cap. I have seen some on eBay that look like they would work.
The vacuum sealer I bought 3 1/2 years ago is now in our camper van. I just bought a new one a couple of weeks ago. They seem very similar, although the first was a lumina and the new one was an Ambiano.
