Nice, comfortable and smooth
Nice car and so smooth and quiet for a diesel. Have the 160kw model plus sunroof, 360 camera, assist package and 20 inch wheels. Plenty of sensors and self parking is great for a big car. There's plenty of power. So far all good with 5000km. Love the mobile wifi and apple CarPlay is handy. It remembers my seat setting and automatically adjust when I entered if it was changed prior.
The only drawback - 3rd row seats not that big. Lifting the 2nd row ito enter 3rd row is hard - especially for kids to lift and put back down. Lifting the 3rd is easy - just press the button.

Not perfect as expected but starting to love it.
Got the Audi Q7 MY17 for 1 year from Audi Indooroopilly. I admit during the first 6 month ownership it had 5 times broke down due to the "Start Stop System Error" followed by "Drive System Error" and the car was put into Limp mode and I have to drive that slowly to the dealership.
I have done a lot of research and seems this problem is very common for the new Q7 and according to the dealership, the problem is caused by DPF.

December which is on the night just before Christmas. however the the service from dealership is "exceptional" and they always keep me in the loop how Audi Australia going to solve this problem. I have had 5 broken down during the first 6 month of ownership or during the first 10k. However the car seemed self healed/corrected there after. currently my odometer is 17500 km and from 10k to now there was ZERO problem in relation to the DPF. I am still waiting for Audi Australia's response of "official fix" because I don't want that problem to re occur when my warranty runs out.1 comment

Love this car
Just picked up a used 2010 Q7 for my wife and we are loving it - we can get 3 bigger car seats across the middle row and the rear seats are actually usable for a 7 seat SUV
The 3.0 TDI engine is powerful, but quite quiet on the road and the MMI system is easy to use, overall it's a great package and a stunning looking vehicle (in my opinion anyway!)
Would highly recommend to anyone with a growing family

Great car when it runs, except it needs to be recalled
Had a wonderful experience for a week with this 200KW, MY17, December 16 built car, bought new from Audi Centre Mosman.
Then had a spontaneous breakdown at one week old driving down Lane Cove Rd in Sydney. Yellow "Drive system" error and the car goes into limp mode in three lanes of traffic. We manage to get safely off that road and then Audi Assist leave us for two hours on the side of the road in the rain waiting for a tow truck.

Audi Mosman immediately fob us off to Audi Australia, who say that a new car that is undriveable is a minor issue from an ACL point of view. We part ways with both Audi Centre Mosman and Audi Australia on whether a brand new car that goes into limp mode without warning after a week, needs four weeks of servicing and has a potentially indeterminate time to fix is a major fault or not. Best Car inHave Ever Driven
The quality of the Q7 is far better then the top of the line BMW or Mercedes SUV at 20 to 30 percent less cost.
Amazing model the 2016 Q7 is simply amazing . The leather is real and thick .The drive is tight and responsive . The driving control is precise .

All the bells and whistles except being roadworthy
I purchased a 2017 model Q7 at the end of last year, having previously owned a last generation Q7 (2013 model) for nearly 4 years, I believe I am more than qualified to compare the differences between the new and old model. Both of the Q7s were purchased brand new.

del. The newer model has a number of advantages over the older model. Many online reviews are positive and based only on the new condition. My decision to upgrade was also based on these reviews, particularly from the ones on YouTube, however, there are fewer reviews based on the experience of being a long-term owner of this car. Undeniably there are a number of improvements and surprises in the new model and I did find the newer model is not as bulky as the previous one and sitting position is lower. The new Q7 is more adaptable to the city roads. The start and stop system is also much smoother and the diesel engine is much quieter. The presence worked fine to avoid collision. Yet the headlights are not as bright as the old model. I am not sure whether it is because the driver’s sitting position was higher. My score would have been 4.8 out of 5 within the first week of ownership, however, I found the navigation failed to read the media as it was shown on screen while driving interstate. It failed to read newly built roads and kept restarting until showing black screen. I thought it was just a minor issue and was still giving friends good feedback about this car. I would not hesitate to recommend this car during the first 3 weeks of ownership, as all looked fantastic, until the fourth week of the ownership and then I found Achilles’s heel with this model. On a 44 degree day of mid-January, the front parking sensor stared to play up. It beeped continuously, even though the car was over 2 metres behind a car in front. A few hours later, the car suddenly fell into “limp home mode” driving at 50 km/hour. On the screen, it flashed the following message in sequence – Start/Stop/System fault. Function unavailable. Please contact workshop. Cruise control system: currently unavailable. See owner’s manual, then Drive system fault, please contact workshop. The symptom of the drive system fault is that the car lost acceleration and struggled to move when stopped at traffic lights. It was impossible to drive it over 60k/hr. I called the Audi roadside assistance, they instructed me to restart the engine and then gave up. They asked me to get the car towed in this terrible weather. What a joke for a prestige car of less than a month old with 3k on the clock! The next day they kept the car for a day at the Audi service centre and said that there is no fix at this stage. They applied ‘regeneration’ as a temporary solution and assured me the same issue would not appear again within the next 10K. They also told me that Audi Australia would contact me to make explanations. Audi Australia called me the next day and told me there is currently no fix to this problem. They will work closely to work on this problem and are unable to provide a definite date. I was worried about what could happen if the vehicle fell into limp home mode in an area with a high-speed limit They said you know how to do it if this problem happened on a highway. Ironically, the drive system fault reappeared within 2 weeks when they returned the car to me! It appears that the problem is not a single incident. There are a few other owners have experienced the same issue. My problem was reported to Audi Australia 2 months ago and the car has been held by them for more than 6 weeks. They cannot fix it and refused to refund or replace. Apparently, Audi failed their obligations to the customers. Having sold a defective vehicle, unable to repair it and refused to refund or replace. Wish I never looked at the Q7
I have the same problem the car keeps going into limp home mode due to the DPS not regenerating. Audi Australia will do nothing about it and have told me to sit back and just wait for the fix to come from Germany. My car has broken down and most of the times needed to be towed six times in six months. Audi Australia has a really poor attitude towards this problem!

Perfect Family Car
If you're a fan of technology and safety this car MY2017 is the perfect one, worth it paying for this range type of car. Few things I have experienced:
-5.9L/100km ($70 worth diesel 1 way Brisbane to Sydney)

High service and repair costs
Bought a 2011 demonstrator and have had several annoying issues with the car - brakes replaced 3x in 5 years (admittedly mainly driving around town, but have never had this problem before in 30 years of driving), expect to replace tyres at least annually (Audi charges close to $500 a pair - get them somewhere else), front passenger window doesn't power down in the summer - really a hassle at parking building entrances and exits, tailgate now sticky, sometimes doesn't go up - but service says they've checked these issues and they're fine (?).

Terrible car and atrocious customer service
Bought this car new in May 2016. Overall nice interior and very spacious. Has plenty of positive reviews online (usually running 2nd to the volvo XC90). Main downsides include the size (especially width) and visibility. Access to 3rd row also cannot be performed by a small child.

Secure, Comfortable and 4.2 Litre V8 Power with Fuel Efficiency
Great car - the ride is comfortable, and for an SUV, you don't feel like you are driving a tank, very little body roll and very responsive vehicle. The one thing I don't like too much about this Audi is the Multimedia input for your iPhone, which needs to be done via a cable and the TMC does not work in Australia.

Best most reliable I have owned
Bought second hand for $38000. Have owned it over 3 years. Bought with faulty emissions control system, this has not affected the performance (amazing), or fuel efficiency, so I have just ignored it with no further issues. Adjustable air suspension is reliable, comfortable and handy when hooking up my full sized van. If you drive it very hard your tyres will wear out quickly. I get 45000 out of a set. s so far. I have not changed the brake pads yet ( over 110 000 klms since purchased). 85% of my driving is highway. I drive with cruise control set at 100 km/hr towing my big van...you don't even know it is there and never gets below 95km/hr. On the flat it returns 15litres/100 klms towing the van at 100km/hr. I frequently pass the 200 series landcruiser when we both tow vans. I will not sell this vehicle as it will be kept for my son or daughter. I would love to buy the SQ7 as my long term vehicle. I am surprised at its reliability, better than new Holden cruise (diesel), 307 Peugeot diesel, Holden Caprice (WK bought s/hand), 2008 Toyota Prado (diesel).1 comment

hasnt lived up to the hype!
We really thought this car would deliver so much more. The pre-sale hype just hasn't been delivered. We have done 25,000ks and I must say that for the price we are sadly disappointed.
I think we will think long and hard before we look at purchasing another Audi. Especially a 4wd.

I bought a 2015 3.0T S line Prestige 4dr All-wheel Drive quattro Q7, she has barely done 14500 miles. I hear the panoramic panel creek as if the assembly is loose, the suspension makes noise as if there is no tomorrow, there is a water leak from where the antenna is fixed. My seat, yes the driver's seat creeks like it has old springs that need lubrication. It's a piece of junk.

I bought this car in July 2015.
My disappointment is from both Audi as a brand and from the Q7 specifically.
It is a big car but interior space is very limited.
The MMI has issues - it is slow to start, bluetooth takes 3 times longer than my VW. I does what you don't want it todo. I contacted Audi a few time - now one ever got back to me.
The engine is good with good fuel consumption but to be honest this is the only good thing about this car given the high price.

We had a BMW x5 prior to Q7 which I regret changing to. I'll explain .2008 q7 Great car when running well. Economical on fuel and powerful engine, comfortable, beautiful designed and ride comfort & 7 seater is a must. Safety was my utmost requirement for my kids and wife. After researching safety crash testing, the q7 from memory, rates high.
The negatives very wide for Australian parking spaces, get use to door dings. It loves chewing up tires and breaks.

I love driving my Q7
Fantastic ride and handling, V8 has masses of power(for such a big car). I love driving it.
Dislike the rubber coated buttons and trim, as when it tears it looks unsightly and difficult to replace.
Reliability has been great, very heavy on the fuel....but it's a V8 what do you expect

I have driven many different cars in the last 20 years but the Q7 is the worst.
Even though the car was worth $100k, it felt more like a $10k car. The suspension is too stiff and could feel every bump on the road. The engine light keeps coming on randomly and have taken it to 5 different Audi dealers multiple times and nobody can fix the problem. The control panel/knobs are so nonuser friendly and way to confusing. The engine is gutless and sounds like a truck. I can go on and on but I have already wasted too much time talking about this rubbish car. Just don't buy one or if you have, sell it immediately.

I have had my Q7 tubo 3lt diesel for just on 5 years
I cannot fault it mechanics. I have been through some tough times business wise an I am hopless at getting it serviced at the best of times. From 15000km to 72000km it didnt get serviced at all and it didnt miss a beat. I dont recommend this but it was one way to keep the servicing cost down LOL. The mechanic said I have lucky and apart from brakes and discs done with the usual servicing and $3k later all was good. That was my first brake replacement as well. Money pit and poor engineering
Don't do it!! I had a 2009 Q7 S line, and before 65000 km had faulty tailgate, fuel door wouldn't open, dropped lower injector seals, failed water pump and burnt engine oil. Another guy In town has had his Q7 engine out at 45000 with rear main seal issues.Excessively expensive service costs, our closest dealer was over 150 Kim's away. You spend $90K on a car and you expect a little better. My first Hyundai Excel ran without fault for over 200000kms at $18k, go figure. I dropped a heap of cash on the trade as I could not bring myself to sell this lemon privately. Now have a Toyota Landcruiser and love it. You may look cool in an Audi but it will send you broke and let you down. Hope this helps in your decision.

sounds like that is the problem.. mine was repaired under warranty so no idea of cost sorry..glad we got the extended warranty!! yours is low kms.. 40,000km/2016... by memory mine went around the same time(km's).. all the best... maybe take to dealer you brought from to diagnose and kick up a stink and you never know
