Rude, condescending and unhelpful
My airline cancelled my original flight and automatically booked me onto another which didn't suit me, leaving me with the dilemma of reworking my schedule to fit this new flight, or to check if Bankwest travel insurance somehow covers this situation.
After a long wait (over 30 min) on the phone, the girl who picked up the call couldn't be in more of a hurry to brush me off. I have been with R&I, bankwest 60yrs, YES They are so awesomely helpful reliable supportive protective & wonderful in everyway .The customer service is always brilliant supportive & very wonderful service in everyway .Today on phone banking I had to do 0 help talking the help was caller Leesa no. bb88510 was so helpful again for me. Worst bank in Western Australia!
Been with this bank for approximately 15 years.
I have found their customer service to be VERY poor but it seemed too hard to change all my details.
I became thoroughly disillusioned recently when the staff at my local branch couldn't be bothered transferring my savings to a term deposit within their own bank!
Now they are too slow transferring my money out of their bank to another bank.
I look forward to the day I never have to deal with this bank again.

Appalling customer service to Self Managed Retiree
Yep, another self funded retiree’s online MasterCard application DECLINED. Attended branch, Midland Gate. Inexperienced staff, unwilling to trouble shoot reason, manager unsupportive of staff and refused to pursue matter above branch. Whilst Bankwest might advertise a good product their policies, processes and staff are costing the organization “bread and butter” customers. Shareholders (individuals just like us) should be appalled by the way Bankwest is treating the hardworking financially secure retiree’s of Australia.

Worst bank i have ever came across!!! Please avoid them please
This bank is absolutely pain in the butt to deal with, can't get anything done without going to a branch, and when you go the people at the reception is useless, they have no basic idea about banks policy and finance, they tend to screw you over... when you request a branch manager things gets worse, you need to verify yourself with all the IDs which they already have on file because i have a Mortgage with them already!!!
Ridiculous!!! Disgraceful!!! Useless!!!!!!

Credit Card Application Denied
Applied for a credit card for overseas travel, was denied. Excellent credit rating, own our own home and investment properties, both on a good income. No reason given, can only assume, reading all the reviews, that because I work part time only this is the reason. Looks like we dodged a bullet - ING offer an account with no international transaction fees which is where we will be going.
* received a letter stating why I was declined - 1. stability of employment - I've only been in my job for 9.5 years (obviously not long enough) and 2. stability of our residence - we've only owned (and lived in) our home for 15 years (again, obviously not long enough).

Could be great but is counterintuitive and difficult to use
I recently joined BANKWEST for business banking. Online banking is always difficult because it is done at a distance but I have been with several online banks and my customer experience is awful every single time. BANKWEST is extremely counterintuitive in the following areas:
Language is confusing - every payment made has a reference to the BANKWEST bank account number not the bank account number where the payment is made to

Bankwest Spearwood staff worst ever
Been with bankwest my entire life (30yrs) this was worse service ever.
Staff member loudly telling me I'm rude and was mouthing off at me when I was with another staff member. I asked for manager who refused to make the staff member apologize. And while this was happening the said staff member was behind her laughing at me and rolling her eyes. Manager was useless when I asked for the complaints number to be written down for me she refused.....

Poor Flexibility for Credit Card application
Dont bother applying for a credit card if you don't have a full time regular job. They have no ability to adjust to a the reality of today's people. If you have a casual job or run a sole trader business they are useless. Go to Latitude or Citybank for a credit card. They are much more flexible.

Started to really go downhill
Maybe CBA sucked the life out of Bankwest because the service used to be good and innovative. Been with them for over 7 years and it seems like they have frozen in time. They still don't do international payments, they hardly have any business services and they have non-existent business team.
As mentioned before, don't bother with credit cards through them, you'll just get rejected - even if you're on a high salary. All their loans/credit cards are a super expensive rate too, honestly, any bank is cheaper than these guys.

ent on my card, they just gave me a canned response asking for evidence after I provided them evidence. They told me to fax a response (lol... in 2022) with 1 day notice or it won't be looked at. Such pathetic service!!
call them says plus use online messaging - did that no reply for 10 min so logged in next day
reply was automated and not relevant asking me to call a tel no - that tel no has a message saying use online messaging and we have a 15 min wait time on average - really ??
I walk into BOQ - they know my name and I can email the manager direct.
I will close this home loan - current rate with Bankwest 4.6 % other banks under 3%

Treat the dead worse than the alive ones
I am the executor of my late mother's estate. I went into the bank to lodge all the forms and prove everything to them. I was told this would take 24-48 hours, ok no problem. It is now the end of the 4th working day and I was told the funds we be in the account at close of business today. Guess what, NO FUNDS. I am sick and tired of this, my anxiety levels are now high and I am being treated like a nobody. I will be lodging a complaint with them also AFCA as this is unacceptable. I cannot wait to close this account and never have anything to do with them ever again.

Don't bother with the credit card application
I don't usually go online and write reviews, instead I am the one reading them. This is not a vent but more so for those who want to apply for a credit card.
I applied for the Mastercard Zero Overseas transaction. I'd emailed them my payslips, current credit card statements from other banks and also a report of my credit score, she said, due to their policy, my application was rejected and can't tell me why.

zled. The reason why I applied for the Mastercard was to avoid overseas transaction and you also get the travel insurance with it. I have a 28 degrees credit card and they are great but they dont offer the travel insurance. After reading many reviews, I think the rejected application might be a good thing after all. Just appalling - just stay away
Bankwest manta according to their literature and what they told me over the phone - "we have almost no branches left in the eastern states of Australia because everything is done online now so we don't need branches"
My answer: "great can I open an account"
Their answer: "no sorry you have to go to the branch for that".

I was amazed that she had no solution to the problem but seemed to think that her answer would be acceptable for a disgruntled customer. Avoid Bankwest at all costs.
I have been with Bankwest for 15 years. But now they are trying to get out of the WA property market, they are making the lives of WA property buyers a nightmare. I was told when I got my loan I would get 2 five year interest only periods. Last week I tried to get the second 5 year interest only period. But Bankwest wants me to apply for a whole new loan and through their chosen mortgage broker. Avoid Bankwest at all costs.

no tax knowledge AT ALL
I have invest some cash with bankwest, and the interest I earned have been deducted at tfn tax rate which is over 40%, I told online staff and call them to explain that I am non resident and should be taxed at 10% non resident tax rate, BUT NO ONE UNDERSTAND, including team leader, staff member, that's basic knowledge of interest payment tax deduction. anyway, avoid them if you can :(

Avoid Bankwest at all costs
In 2012 we decided to move our mortgage to Bankwest. Biggest mistake we have ever made and regretted that decision for the last 7 years. Call centre staff are rude and don't know what a principal only payment is on a home loan. Staff don't even know what there internal policies are. Staff calling in relation to credit card transactions done overseas even though the bank was informed in writing that we were travelling. The list of complaints is endless. Our refinancing is about to be finalised and I am so happy that we will end the nightmare of dealing with Bankwest.

Pathetic bank
I attempted to lodge a Business account with this bank. 3 weeks later, my business partners and I were told that our application had expired, in spite of us all going to the bank to provide the signed documents, albeit at different branches as we live across Australia.
They had assured us that everything was good to go, and there would be no issues, but this ridiculous bank wasted 3 weeks of our time, forced us to take time off our job to get all of this done, make several phone calls, and email documents and still was not able to provide us ...Read more
with the a business bank account! Thankfully, we have opted for another bank, which is far superior and better with its customer service. BankWest should stay in the West, it has no business opening accounts for people across the East Coast of Australia, I wish I could rate it 0/5, because of the absolutely horrendous experience that we have had with them! Do not waste your time with BankWest!
Just found out that BankWest has rejected our loan refinancing after stuffing us around and delaying our application for 6mths!! But after reading the other reviews and being informed that we can actually get a better rate with ING and AMP, we dodged a bullet!

Stolen money and no answers
The ATM took my money and did not deposit the money into my account after I cancelled a deposit transaction at the ATM. I immediately spoke with a Teller and she filed a dispute and said someone will contact you. I said I had to walk away with some kind of evidence of the incident. She offered a photo copy of the day and time it was lodged.
I followed up 48hours later with no contact, she said it may take up to a month. Its now been 2 weeks and had heard nothing, no email nothing to acknowledge they are investigating.
As far as I am concerned this is stolen money and there should be far more urgency involved in getting it back.

BankWest is the most secretive and obstructive organisation I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I have asked the bank on a number of occasions and been fobbed off. This bank has lied, obstructed, misinformed on a simple attempt to have an additional card issued. Every time I have followed the directions given the goal posts have been moved. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK.
