Blackvue DR900S

I have a Blackvue DR900S 2CH that was installed about 15 months now. Things had been OK and smooth until about 2 months ago, when I then could not view the files anymore. Since then, the symptoms are like this:
* It does record but seems like long delay for recording the very current time, ie when checking, see the clips taken until 2 or 3 minutes before current time.. looks like it take a while to update the recording,
which was a weird behaviour compared with how it worked before.
* When switching to Blackvue wifi to view the clips on my iPhone, only the very last clip can run and display, all the previous clips cannot, it displays the err msg: 'the camera is in use and/or cannot start this function'' .
I tried many times... updating the firmware - not working; then remove the Blackvue apps in my iPhone and then re-installed the Blackvue app - not working. Press and hold button on device to restart it - not working.. So, trying and trying this way and that way, but not working back yet.

What should I do now? Is there any Blackvue centres where I can bring my dash camera to, for some check/fix?
Thank you very much.

Blackvue DR900S

The playback during parking mode is almost 1 hour long not the 3min setting that I set. And these's no audio. The playback is also in super fast forward speed like 16X or 32X. Why?

Hi Benjamin,
Thanks for getting in touch with your query.
It sounds like your units parking mode has been set to Time Lapse recording instead of Motion & Impact detection.
This will make the camera record 1 frame per second for the duration of the parking time and then plays the files back at 30 frames per second so a 30 minute recording period is played back in a 1 minute file.
To change settings access the firmware settings and under the basic then recording tabs change the parking mode recordings.
If you require further assistance please get in touch on the number below.

What is the darkest % of tint will the back camera work thru?

Hi Michael,

During day time recordings the rear camera will not have any issues, with the recording it will just provide a sunglasses effect to the video quality.
However at night it does limit the amount of light coming through which can create a poorer quality image.

Blackvue DR900S

Hi guys Im ver much considering buying the Blackvue DR900S
And I wanted to know how easy it is to show the footage on my laptop, and save the file.
Also I have a fully black car inside and out and it gets super hot here in Adelaide 45degree summers for days on end.
Will this be a worry if Im buying this dash cam ?

BlackVue Australia T.BlackVue

Hi Elliot,
Thanks for your question.
There are 3 ways to extract the footage from the DR900S camera;
1. SD Card
Simply remove the card from the camera and connect to the PC > Open BlackVue PC Player and select the required file.
2. WiFi
Connect your smart phone to the camera network > Open the BlackVue App > Select WiFi connection > Download the required file to your smart phone.
3. BlackVue Cloud (Requires an internet connection)
PC Cloud Player or BlackVue Cloud in the App > Select your camera from the available cameras > Select the required file > Upload the file to your BlackVue Cloud account > Download to your smart phone or PC

The DR900S is rated to 85*C with the latest firm ware. If the camera reaches this temperature it will shut down to protect the internal components. For most users this doesn't present an issue but in extreme cases the camera can reach this temperature. Many factors are involved including camera settings and external environment so it isn't possible to provide a clear cut answer, however for most users this isn't an issue. The BlackVue cameras are often used on mining vehicles in extreme conditions without issue.

Hope this above information is usfull

Hi
Sorry I don't know. If you have the front and rear camera set up it I assume it might be difficult to do. I suggest you have a talk to an installer. Mine is for one vehicle use

If kept out of the weather and sun. Cam just store to 128GB micro SD card. Otherwise have to sign up for their cloud storage.

Hi Graham,
Thanks for the question.
The camera will run with 12V power, however is not designed to be used outdoors.
You may wish to upgrade the SD card to maximize the storage capacity. The DR900S is compatible up to 256GB micro SD Cards (note, not all cards SD cards are compatible with dash cams). This will provide between 14 - 34 hours of recording depending on resolution settings.
As the camera will be stationary it will operate in parking mode, you may wish to try the time lapse parking mode to further increase your recording storage time.
Feel free to get in touch if you have any other questions.

Hi Fred, fantastic choice of camera :) and yes sure can. Just ask your retailer and they should be able to order them in for you, otherwise you can order them online and they will ship them to you.
Thanks,

Awesome camera you will not be disappointed and super easy to transfer to another car.
In saying that I would probably just buy a whole setup if your going to always be switching back and forth, its nice to just jump in the car and it all works, also good having it in the car while its parked

I don't understand the app, the rear camera is not showing any recording but the light indicates it is on. The quality is amazing though. My husband got it for me to feel better after hearing my cousin got in a wreak with a semi & he took off with out anyone getting details... I don't want to be in that situation. Also it only seems to record in 1:00 intervals & 98% of them are when I'm in park... What am I doing wrong & how can I fix it?

Blackvue DR900S

Hi Blackvue Australia,

I’ve got the DR750S-2CH hardwired in my car. Looking at specs on your website it seems the DR900S shares the exact same Rear unit as the DR750S am I correct? Looking at upgrading the Front unit to DR900S. Should be simple plug and play? I can just unplug the DC-in and Rear connecting cables. Thanks.

Hi Michael, the rear camera is the same, however you can't purchase the front camera only and plug a rear camera into it, they must be purchased as a kit.
Thank you,

Blackvue DR900S

I bought my DR900S-2CH a week ago and had it installed by the store. The camera worked well for the first 2 days, I went to check a recording of an incident but there was no recording. It appears the camera is only recording events now with lots of normal time missing. .
What is the problem please?
The camera has the latest firmware update with the supplied 16gb card. Not happy and returning it tomorrow.
Very clunky and hit and miss with wifi / cloud connectivity.
Looked like a great design but just not a reliable camera at this stage.

Hello Pjd, we're sorry to hear of your experience, this is certainly not normal. Is it possible that you have changed some settings that have interfered with the cameras normal recording functions? In any case, I would suggest asking your retailer to help you with these settings, alternatively you could call our support line on 08 6267 5167 and one of our team members will be able to help you.
Thanks,

Hello, thanks for your prompt reply. I have not changed any of the settings from the original setup when the camera was installed. I took the car and camera back to the retailer as suggested, we looked at the original settings and have decreased the sensitivity to '3' in the normal driving mode. It was thought that the great roads here in SA are contributing to the large amount of event recordings by registering when potholes, manhole covers and the rest of the fine roadway is encountered.
Today not as many event recordings were triggered so I have decreased the sensitivity down to '2' and hopefully this will have solved the problem, I will keep you updated.
Thanks

Can I swap blackvue 650gw with blackvue 900S, by just replacing the head units and keeping the same wiring?

2 answers

DC7

You can use the same video, power cables, and rear mount of the 650GW for the 900S, however please note the front mounts of the 650gw are not compatible to the 900S. They look similar however don't fit securely.

BlackVue
BlackVue Australia T.BlackVue

Hi Sunny,
The power cables is the same however, the manufacturer did upgrade the coax cable during the DR650GW season, this means your coax may not be compatible with the new DR900S. The easiest way to check this is to call our support team with the serial number of your camera to check if your cables are compatible.
You will also have to change the window brackets as these are model specific.
