Designed for looks, not function
When we built our new kitchen in 2010 we incorporated black granite bench tops with the then newly available concealed splash back LED strip lighting, and I thought it would be great to have a black glass cook top to meld into the granite, so I bought this Blanco BCGC74X cook top which had a nice uncluttered appearance without a lot of cast iron pot protection!
Although it looks great, it is one of the hardest cook tops to use! As stated in other reviews the trivets that protect the gas rings are way to small to adequately hold a saucepan or p...Read more

Avoid
I feel compelled to write this to warn others. I'm surprised this didn't fail some safety test. It looks like a clever idea, but the trivets are just downright dangerous. I've had a frying pan and a saucepan both just fall off. Because there's no ring, just two cross pieces, if the vessel on top is at all off centre it's not stable. It'd be easy to fix if an alternative trivet were available. The rest is fine.
Clean attractive lines. Relatively straightforward to clean.
Dangerous.

Best cooktop I've used...
I really wanted a glass gas cooktop - and found this one in a Blanco catalogue. I bought a white one from a seconds shop. Very easy to clean and looks great even if it is in need of a bit of a wipe. Particularly like the robustness of the cast iron trivets and the spacing and layout of the burners. The controls are safely placed at the front.
Mystified by those who say they haven't got heat control. Full heat is very hot (yay!) and a good low simmer is obtained by moving the burner control around above full heat (ie away from from you t...Read more
owards 12 o'clock). I find I can get a very low simmer where the flames are barely coming out of the burner. This is the finest, most precise heat control, particularly a simmer, I've ever had on a gas cooktop. Fantastic cooktop! Love it. Great looking, well designed, absolutely reliable with very precise heat controlSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Terrible
This appliance is dangerous, inconvenient and messy, in spite of having an easy to clean glass top. Should be recalled for safety reasons.
Looks good, no large clunky bits to wrestle
You must ensure the metal rings are exactly in place each time you use or move a pot. Rings are easily dislodged, leaving pots & pans unbalanced & tipping over. We've lost a few meals so far, & have been fortunate enough not to have had burning hot liquid spilt over us. Definitely do not use this appliance for deep frying or hot oils. No spill tray to catch overflows, which end up dripping onto the floor or into the cupboard below. Must be continuously cleaned whilst in use to stop this problem.

OK
Very disappointing performance given the cost and reputation of Blanco. It would be perfect if the flame adjustment was better moderated.
It's easy to clean and looks great.
Pitiful heat control - flaming hot or flaming hot.

OK
Overall a good unit, but in my opinion not quite worth the full retail price $1,099. It's very good looking and works very well, but if you're after a serious inferno of a wok burner then this model isn't for you. It works well - but not like you'd see in a commercial kitchen (which is fair for a domestic product I suppose). As I mentioned, even the smallest burner is strong enough to be usefull, so you're not constantly fighting over the one decent burner.
This product would suit someone who is looking for an upgrade for medium to advanced st...Read more
