Kogan 2000W Black Glass Portable Electric Panel Heater KAHTP20BLKA is a dud!
The heater is designed for temperatures of up to 50 but it never gets beyond 22 degrees no matter how cold it is. So it is using electricity and not performing! Do not invest in this 'heater' you can do much better
Purchased at Kogan.com for A$99.00.

Complete false advertising.. Good luck on the return!
woorrst experience of purchase.. the "heater" spent hour and half to heat up to 22 degrees and never goes up any more in the following 5 hours. I've followed instruction and tried everything, and now just found everyone having the same problem. It is a complete false ad on the kogan website, THIS IS NOT A HEATER BUT A BLOCK OF METAL JUNK. wish me luck returning process!

A very good little heater
I like the style of these heaters, I now have 3, they are black with glass so they tend to blend in to my decor. They look like a TV so people tend to get confused as to why I have them on my floor. The ambient heat that comes out of them is very pleasant unlike blow heaters which I find tend to dry out the air. It is a very simple set up with the timer, I can use the remote or the unit buttons to make them come on before I wake up which is handy.

Terrible. Don’t get sucked in by fake reviews.
I bought this heater with the intention of heating a room to the desired temperature overnight for a newborn baby on the way.
The heater thermostat is completely useless and a sticker on the unit once you open the box even suggest this. It advises setting the temperature to 35 degrees and adjusting! Not something you want to be doing throughout the night.
We have tried setting the unit to temperature ranges in the 20 degree ranges but the heat only trickles out.
We set the unit to 30 degrees and managed to heat the room to 17 degrees!

Stylish, functional heater overall
The heater works fine, it quickly heats my 20 square metre room within 20 minutes or less, starting at 15 degrees and going to 20. It looks stylish and modern. The only problem is that the thermostat is useless. It's totally uncalibrated, so within minutes as the heater warms up it'll show 30 degrees when it's really only 18 or 19. I find it easier just to check my indoor weather station and turn it off manually when I feel warm. The controls at first take a bit of working out: the manual is for a totally different remote than the one I actuall...Read more
y got, but it's basically on/off, low/high heat, thermostat, and a timer function. It would be nice if you could turn off the loud, annoying "beep" that sounds after every push of the remote as well. Oh, and most of the heat actually convects upwards out of a grill behind the panel, although the panel itself does get pretty warm too, but not so hot as to burn instantly obviously. For $100 it's good value though.Purchased in May 2021 at Kogan.com for A$99.00.

Absolutely useless! More landfill - disgraceful in this day & age.
As many have said - the opening at the top sends hot air straight up, not at you or around the room. If you sat right in front of it you'd still be cold. The only way you'd get warm is to straddle the darn thing - how convenient!! Avoid like the plague.

Didn't meet my expectations
The heat come from the back of the product, which isn't a great help when wanting to sit it front of it and heat up fast. Sometimes the functions on the glass panel don't respond when first pressed. I personally don't believe the temperature goes up very high. I bought two of these and I hardly ever use them. Waste of money and a waste of space.

Very dissatisfying
Went to the Kogan website, saw this product and it seemed to be up for a very reasonable price. The girlfriend had been begging me to buy a decent gas heater for the lounge room but being the scrouge i am this is where i ended up.
I notice now after buying it you cant actually write reviews on the kogan website, which leads me to believe the good reviews it had were not placed by other customers like myself and probably more likely by kogan them selves to try and pump up the sales.
Iv been through the little booklet, iv worked out how to get ...Read more
it going to the best of its abilities but what i will say is after 5 hours in a small bedroom the ambient temperature has only gained by 3 degrees and if i walk out of the room and come back in i dont even notice a change at all. I should have just bought that gas heater she wanted. Knowing the cost of returning this large useless piece of glass i dare say it will stay in cupboard unused. I do not recommend and I am very disappointed in kogan for not having open reviewing on their website, very tricky. No wonder theyre being investigated at the moment.Purchased in June 2021 at Kogan.com for A$99.00.

Kogan glass panel heater
Firstly I need to say the instruction manual is really basic and you end up having to work it out yourself also the loud beeping when you need to set it at night could do with volume control however once you work out how to use it does a good job at heating med size areas don't know how efficient it is yet.

Bought it in 2018 August. The good thing is you can use remote to control it, however, it doesn't work sometimes and shows an error message. Then, you need to wait a few minutes.

Look elsewhere for a heater
In June 2018 i purchased the following heater from KOGAN - Kogan 1500W Portable Electric Panel Heater, $89.00, Product No. 6MAMQHUR.
It works very well and i'm very happy with it. I went looking this year to buy another but KOGAN no longer stock this model so i opted for the model i am now reporting on. Its a classy looking white glass panel heater - no fan, no noise, just what i wanted.
The model concerned is KAHTP15WHTA and when i received it there were 2 problems.
1: Excessive off-gassing (really toxic smell) so much so i took it outside for...Read more

Heats well and looks good, loud and bright though
Bought it for the Melbourne winter, it heats my bedroom well and looks great.
2 downsides though
1 - I don't need a nightlight, the display is always on and is very bright, it should not stay on after say 10 mins, or at least get more dim
2 - really loud, pushing any button on it is accompanied by a really loud beeping sound
Other that those two facts it is a great heater for $60
I hope the engineers see this and fix those two problems in future models, but yeah, be warned, loud and bright

Doesn't Heat Up
I purchased one of these recently and got free delivery from Kogan. It is a great looking heater, but that's where the pros end. We set it up and after looking at the very unhelpful manual that was supplied with it, ( had to go online to look at one with more info) I turned it on and set it at 23o. According to the heater the ambient temp in our fairly small lounge was 15o when I turned it on. After 5 hrs of being on it never got any warmer than 18o. You had to stand over the top of it to feel any heat at all. The next day, I reread the ...Read more
instructions to make sure I was setting it correctly ( I was) and gave it another go, again it got no warmer than 18o. After 3 days we gave up and put it back in the box. We spent $119 and got free delivery and was probably going to cost almost that much to send it back, so we still have it. I do not recommend this heater.1 comment

Useless heater that does not serve the purpose as advertised by Kogan
It is advertised by Kogan as 'warm your home quickly and efficiently' and 'perfect for large room', which are advertising tricks as this heater does not serve as described.
It takes 2-3 hours before you noticing the 'warm' effect, and it does not reach the maximum heat of 35 degree celsius as indicated on the machine, and it hardly warms up a small apartment bedroom. You literally have to stand next to the heater to feel the heat.
Initially i thought my first unit was broken on arrival so I went through the trouble of getting a replacement un...Read more

Looks good, does the job
I really like this heater because it's not garish or ugly, it kind of just blends into its surrounds. It heats a large-ish room really effectively, plus it has a bunch of different modes for energy efficiency, etc. My main complaint would be that it's quite heavy to move and the settings aren't entirely easy to understand.

Worked better than I thought.
We are currently renting in a older, poorly insulated townhouse with temperatures getting as low as 8 degrees inside.
As this living situation is only temporary, we didn't want to spend too much on a heater as once our house is built we would have no use for it.
We decided to purchase this heater during one of the Kogan sales hoping that it would at least just take the edge of the cold but it actually worked much, much better than we could have imagined.
We have it set up in our lounge area which is quite large and open but this little heater certainly manages to battle the elements and keep us very cosy.

Questions & Answers
Julieasked
What is the energy rating. Is it cost effective to run
2 answers
All electric heaters are equally efficient so they don't really have energy ratings. The whole idea of a heater is to maximize electrical resistance to generate heat (ie to be as "inefficient" as possible). This is not how most electrical products work. The cost depends on the wattage. A 2000W heater is as efficient as any other 2000W heater whether it's a fan, oil, convective or other kind of heater. 2000W means if your electricity tariff is eg 25c/kwh it will cost 50c an hour to run, whatever the type of heater. It will cost less obviously if you use it at a lower setting like 1000W.
Thanks Daniel. Was trying to research as some electrical devices use more power e.g. washers/dryers/fridges/freezers. Electricity bills are huge and the running costs per hour is important to know.

Ross (from Kogan) thank you for responding. But what do you suggest? You have already sent me a replacement heater at no expense to me (which didn't work as it should) so do we keep banging away until one turns up that works.
The heater looks real flash Ross... but unfortunately they do not perform anywhere near as well as last seasons model. Most of the heat is transmitted out the back with the glass appearing to act as a heat deflector.
Can we work something out here. My wife refuses to turn on the heater because of the shocking smell. This is a real problem for Kogan. I understand the elements are always protected at time of manufacture but you need to test what they are using. What chemicals? They normally burn off after 1-2hrs use. Not this model.
Cheers
