Hi! I would like to check the status of my order #3514367, specifically the captioned title "The Adventures of Henry Thoreau", since it has been 3 weeks after my order and the expected dispatch is stated to be 5-9 days. Would appreciate if you could please check on the status and expedite the dispatch. I am from overseas but visiting Australia this week so I had placed my order in advance in reliance of the dispatchment date and the company's efficiency. Hence, this is now urgent as I have NOT received my outstanding purchases and am leaving Australia next week. I urgently need my orders to be delivered this week (2 May). Please respond.

Hi there Yulin, I'm so sorry that this last book on your order won't reach you by Monday 9th. We've had a supplier delay which we're sorting out at the moment but it won't be in time for you. I've sent you a separate direct message with more details regarding a refund and what we can do for you. Kind regards, Alex, Customer Service Manager

Where is your buy now button on your website?

DavidBooktopia

Hi Kate,
The Buy Now buttons are blue (and green for eBooks) and feature in a few places. Cover images in search results or on the main pages will have a Buy Now/Shopping Cart style button which appears if you hover over the image. On the product page itself there is a Buy Now button permanently displayed. So, just hover over the cover image and you should see it, or click through to the item and buy now from there.

Why was the Lady Bird Book "When I Grow Up Firefighter" sent in such a large cardboard very tough package that was so difficult to open that it caused me to damage all the pages? It is now in the rubbish bin. email [email protected]

The uniquely tough packaging that enclosed our expensive hard back book, ensured that the book arrived in pristine condition. The package opened readily, using our kitchen scissors the enclosure opened readily. The book was further protected with a neat layer of soft packaging material. We were so delighted with the excellent service by Booktopia that we spontaneously wrote a favourable review.

Rubbish, the book was a very small paper back suitable for a smaller type envelope . have getting books on eBay for 5years and had no trouble. The fact you are talking about hard cover books I can see they would have been easier to open. The size of the cardboard was ridiculous for such a tiny book. My scissors are quite sharp but the cardboard was so thick the scissors had difficulty and caused me to slip and cut the book. p.s there was no soft material covering this book'

DavidBooktopia

Hi Max,
We've invested heavily in efficient and reliable packaging with safely and securely delivering their contents a priority. The flatpack or envelope style cardboard packages are designed to tough enough to protect the books inside which can sometimes be tricky. Over time the feedback of our customers has confirmed that they certainly work well in almost all cases (there are certainly exceptions). They do have a pull tab to assist opening (as do our box cartons) but I understand that sometimes this might not be perfectly placed and a little extra work is needed. I'm sorry that in this case it proved harder than planned so I've taken the liberty of ordering a replacement for you. Please don't hesitate to call us on 1300 187 187 if we can be of any further assistance. The Customer Service Team are available Monday - Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm Sydney time. kind regards, Alex, Customer Service Manager.

Hi Vixen, that's strange. There is a box on the page where you enter your payment details to enter the promotion code. Were you on your computer, tablet or mobile? I will show your question to IT Support and they may ask you to contact them directly to analyse your experience. Kind regards, Tony

Hello is anyone home at Booktopia??? I ordered 5 paperback copies of a book on the 25 Mayember 2014, a few weeks later 2 copies were delivered. Booktopia advised me via email “they were waiting for more copies to arrive.”
Mid February and no sign of the books, my patience wearing thin I went onto the tracking system which showed the tracking number was invalid, in other words I had paid for 5 books and received just 2!
I then called Booktopia and the call centre operator was apologetic but keen to brush me off by offering a refund for the books rather than the service of completing my order. When I was insistent that I wanted the books he promised to follow up but 10 days later no response (the original order was placed 3 months ago). Needless to say I will not be using or recommending Booktopia.

Dear Hubert, thanks for the message. I understand this was dealt with already. Just to complete off the question in case any one else wonders. As you are the author of the books you tried to order and the distributor was out of print we were unable to complete your order and paid you a refund. At least you were able to pick up the last remaining copies. You should definitely consider converting your book to Print On Demand that way it will never go out of print and the publisher can print one copy at a time if someone wants it in the future. All the best.

Why doesn't Booktopia endeavor to provide a better standard of responsiveness to communications, and more be proactive? On eBay you have many negatives for exactly this point and my requests about an existing order not having shipped for two weeks and just wanting an update have gone unanswered, and more inexplicably my communications about availability of books I want to order have been ignored for a week.

Hi Alan, I do believe we have been overwhelmed with queries through eBay. We have been shipping 10,000 books per day and have mostly been focused on getting orders out the door. So we have neglected some of the tasks at hand, one of which is eBay replies. We have just employed more resources to ensure we stay on top of them. Thanks for your feedback. I sympathise with you. I have had a problem downloading one of my ebooks on their website - to no avail. Likewise have sent 3 email messages through their site to them - no response. Phoned today. Phone call goes to message bank ... not planning to keep them on my "favourite" sites any time soon. Would rather deal with overseas ebook suppliers. Very poor service. Please note Tony Nash.

My 85yo mother has a DAISY Machine from Vision Australia. In addition to DAISY discs, it plays audiobook CDs, plus MP3s I download from their website and transfer to a USB thumb drive. It is a very flexible piece of kit. It also has ports for a sd card, LAN (to connect to a network).

I think it's just a generic Australia Post package & cost. The only shipping option was $6.95

Booktopia
DavidBooktopia

Hi, it is actually a flat $6.50 charge for as many books as you want even if we have to do multiple shipments. So if you order a few books that are in stock, we will ship them straight away, plus a couple of books that needed to be ordered in from our suppliers they will get shipped when they arrive and if you also order another book that is not yet published and due out in 2 months that will also be shipped as part of the original flat fee of $6.50 at no extra cost. Plus... keep in mind we are always sending out free shipping offers to our customers who are still subscribed to our email database system. Kind regards, Tony Nash, Booktopia's CEO

We do have some of the best editors in Australia, including Caroline Baum and John Purcell, who are sending newsletters every week on our upcoming not-yet-published titles so please subscribe to our email database to be kept up to date on those. Plus there are emails on free shipping offers and warehouse clearance sales too. I hope that helps. Kind regards, Tony Nash, Booktopia's CEO

i have recently ordered books from booktopia and was wanting to order some dvds but they were listed on one evening and then not listed on the next and now i only have series 1 and 2 and am looking for series 3 and 4 - is it possible to order something which is not on the online pages?

1 answer
Booktopia
DavidBooktopia

Hi Margie, thanks for your question. We do remove some DVDs if our suppliers say that they do not have stock as we never know if they are going to get replenished and only display them when we know they have stock. Alternatively it could have a title that we bought in bulk when the distributor was offloading the last of its stock and when we run it of those situations it will be removed from the site. I would recommend calling our Call Centre during business hours on 1300 187 187 and have a chat about it and they can look up our suppliers websites and give you accurate information about that specific DVD series. I recently picked up my purchase from booktopia. I always feel a bit guilty that my book is handed to me in a bubble wrap postage envelope with my name on it. Ideally I'd like the book on its own, but could there be less packaging for book pickups?

1 answer
Booktopia
DavidBooktopia

Thanks for your question. After thinking it through, my main concern is we have quite a few pick ups and some of them can stay around for a while and if they do not have some protective wrapping they will get shelf soiled over time and that is not desirable for us or for our customers. One thing that customers do is leave the white bubble wrap packaging so we can recycle it for another order. Others need the protective packaging because they have cycled to us or walked and need to protect their book on the way home. Kind regards, Tony Nash. Booktopia's CEO

It is an independent site to ours and we do not have any links or associations to it... at this stage, anyway.
