Saw OK, but support in NZ is nil
This saw is surprisingly powerful and i can get a lot of work out of it even with the basic 2.4 AH battery. As the other reviewer notes, the most annoying thing with this is that the blade tightening knob has no locking mechanism and it loosens easily and needs regular tightening. It seems to clog with grass etc if you get near the ground a lot more than a petrol saw as well.
Most annoying in NZ is the lack of support from Bosch. They don't stock basic spares such as replacement chain which is not available as a generic alternative either, and it takes 2 months to get stock into the country at price 4 x that of UK. Thankfully Amazon UK can help deliver in a week or two.

Light but slow
Bought this chainsaw some 4 years ago (I am not sure now exactly), and has done many a cuts. Pretty good chainsaw at the time, but in comparison to more recent offerings, the chain speed is very slow. Enough torque for softwood, long as you are not attempting to do any plunge cuts of any sort. Although light enough for single hand operation, the handle is not made for it so feels imbalanced unlike offerings by Stihl or Husqvarna (T536LI XP) - the latter double hand operation model has a 14" bar. The 12" bar is definitely a limitation however it...
Read more is good enough for pruning and weekenders. It's also a good option for 4wd'rs as it is light, easy to start & convenient. No petrol, no mixing and no tuning. Chain has a tendency to come lose often, as there is no way to lock the tensioner into place. It is not uncommon to have to retighten the chain every 3-4 cuts which is frustrating. Battery life is not bad, though I used a 32v 4AH battery rather than the battery that came with it (red 2.8AHr), it gives me a lot more cuts and less likely to stall. But after 5 years, the chainsaw has finally broken. You can hear the motor spin inside but no drive on the chain gear. Feels like perhaps an internal gear or shaft or something has sheared off. It only makes a sound now. So retiring it now. Shame as it was a really good light saw to take camping too if we need firewood or to clear a minor brach or tree across the road. I definitely got a decent return on investment on this tool.Questions & Answers
