Not as good as I expected
Yes it washes and does a lot of other functions, however there are some issues for the washing machine that I wouldn't expect. Mold grows on the front rubber seal as water collects there; the capacity is small for what you pay for; the washing time is very long; I do not get a notification when the detergent dosage is low. It was expensive for what I thought was an excellent product, which I believe is over priced.Lately, I have been only using Bosch home products, however for my next product, I will look at some other brand.

So quiet
We have recently replaced our older Bosch front loader washing machine with the new and improved model. The new machine cleans as well as the older model. Our old machine used to beep loudly when it was finished and continued periodically until you attended to the machine. The new machine now has a much softer sound and not as shrill. The wash cycles also seem to be a lot quieter than previously as I had to check it was still going. The new machine clearly states the cycle it is on and how long is left. Overall I am still enjoying the Bosch models. The customer care I have received from Bosch previously has been outstanding. I have owned Bosch for a few years now and really like their products.

Perfect - Could not be happier with my Bosch front loader
Extremely happy so far with my Bosch front loader. Every washing feature you need with ability to select speed wash option or eco wash option for most wash cycles and select stain removal feature. Find it a bit odd always having to turn the machine on BEFORE loading but like that it weighs the load. Being on our own tank water I love the 8.5kg eco wash load - superb wash using very little water/power. The matching heat pump dryer is turned on after loading so takes a bit of getting used to doing. Find the light in the drum just wonderful to making sure you grab out every item and the drum wash cycle reminder.

Best washing experience of my life
I received this washing machine as a replacement of my previous Bosch, which had some minor problems. It washes everything perfectly - even towels! (once I found the specialised towel setting). It is quiet, water saving (people can get in the shower at the same time while it is on without any problems). Clothes come out without lint, fluff, even renegade tissues seem to be less of a problem when accidentally thrown in with clothes (still a first world problem though). I will only buy Bosch appliances for my house from now on. I have one of thei...Read more
r dishwashers (equally brilliant). BUT the best thing about Bosch is their customer service. They are always understanding and stand by their products. You will pay more for them, but it will be well worth it. I only buy the German-made Bosch, as I find they seem to be higher quality again. Bosch is the only company that I've dealt with where I've been happy with the outcome of a complaint.1 comment

Good performance
This was a replacement machine for my WAY32540 which had ongoing issues and Bosch agreed to replace, you can find a review of that in the WAY32540 section.
I use my machine with Bosisto's washing liquid, stain remover and will soak in a sink in something like Sard if I really have to. I do not use softeners in any way as the scrud these create just coats and clogs your machine (one of the reasons I had to change the old F&P top loader).
CONS

8.5KG CAPCITY? YOU HAVE GOT TO BE JOKING! FALSE ADVERTISING, WHAT A CON!
A few weeks ago we bought a new washing machine from Bosch. We own a small lodge/B & B and have very specific requirements. As we have not previously had a Bosch washing machine before or a front loader, I took the precaution of ringing up the Bosch Customer Service number and asking their advice. I explained that we have a busy B & B and if we have all rooms checking out then we can have 7-9 loads to be washed a day. Each room has 2 loads of washing plus their is our washing and general household laundry. Often we also have douvre and bed...Read more
spreads to wash which are bulky items and our beds are all super king so all the linen very large. I specifically said that I wanted a machine that held at least 8.5kg. The woman was very helpful I thought at the time and directed me to the BOSCH WASHING MACHINE WAY32790AU . Bosch do not sell their items directly to the public, so I went through Harvey Norman Commercial. I once again told my story to the salesman on the phone and he ordered me the machine I had been recommended. At no stage did anyone suggest this was not an appropriate machine for the amount of washing I have to do. The machine arrived and was dumped in my laundry, not unpacked, not installed. This was a first for me as all the machine I have purchased in the past have both been unwrapped and installed. So as it is an extremely busy time of year, it sat around for several days waiting for time for us to install it and read the screeds of information about. So we started using it. Very quickly it became apparent that the machine doesn't do anything like 8.5kg, in fact I don't think it would even hold that amount. It always flashed full at either 5kg or less. Many of the cycles are 4 or 3 kg. It has a tiny capacity. It wouldn't even be suitable for a normal family. What is worse is that the towel cycle lasts 2 - 3 hours!!! depending on the number of towels that do into it and they come out over spun and like stiff cardboard. We have lots of sunshine in the Bay of Plenty where we live so only use the dryer occasionally. However the only way we can make our towels nice and fluffy for guests is to put them in the dryer. They are brand new towels this year and very good quality so I don't want to have them constantly in the dryer not to mention the unnecessary cost of doing so. Last week after trying to get hold of the National Sales Manager at Bosch I finally got hold of him and firstly he wasn't able to tell me with out going down and trying a machine about how I could get 8.5kg. After some discussion, he conceded that the information I had been given was misleading and that he agreed the machine was not fit for purpose in my situation. He did not offer to take the machine back although it was his company and his staff that had recommended I buy it. He has told me to go back to Harvey Norman and ask to return it and find a machine that will do the job. I have not had time to do this yet but that is my next hurdle. Watch this space! I am not finished by any means but would not recommend this machine. One thing I do think though which is positive is that the clothes come out a whole lot cleaner than my previous top loaders. So if you are a couple, with lots of time to wash towels and don't mind them being board like once washed then this is the machine for you. Oh did I mention that it is also extremely expensive.4 comments

Our appliances are manufactured for domestic use and this is why our appliances come with a domestic warranty, for use in a commercial setting this limits the manufacturing warranty of the appliance to a 3 month period which is clearly stated on our website and in the appliance user manual. Our appliances are tested for a domestic setting running on 3-4 loads a week, much less frequently than required in a commercial setting. As the appliance is running to manufacturing specifications we would be unable to assist you further. Regards, BoschHomeAuI have been onto the company who sold me the washing machine. tising is extremely misleading to say it does 8.5kg when it clearly doesn't and the no machine should take 2 hours to wash towels and then over spin them so they are like cardboard and can only be resurrected by drying in a dryer.Since I wrote this review Harvey Norman have refunded the full amount for the washing machine which I am very pleased about. They have done the right thing. I urge people who are buying a washing ma... Read more

Questions & Answers
Katoasked
Regarding the Bosch WAY32790AU. Can you use the spin dry function ONLY..? If you can what speeds can you go up to...?
1 answer
Yes you can - you need to select 'additional programs' on the selection dial and scroll through the options to 'spin'. I believe you can change the spin speed under the options to anything in the full range of what the product offers (800-1600rpm I think....I usually use 1200rpm so can't remember range off the top of my head).
Hieronymousasked
Is the 8.5kg weight capacity of these in 'wet weight' and therefore extrapolated from what the machine measures as dry weight when you're loading it? How many normal sized towels will it wash at one time?
2 answers
I can't really answer about normal towels but it will do:
2 bath sheets
1 bath mat
1 face cloth
1 hand towel
The weight is calculated when loading the machine which can be a bit annoying as I will soak things in a bucket first as I don't want pre soakers sitting in the machine for hours. These soakers tend to loosen the dirt but the chemicals and dirt then clog the internal hoses etc.
I use the towel setting and set additional water level as I believe this helps condition of garments. Garments are still harder than they would be if a top loader was being used, no doubt in that after 1 year use now!
The product weighs the load as you load it - nothing to do with wet or dry as such because it weighs the load and obviously a soaking wet towel will weigh more than a dry towel. If you are really concerned at packing the washer to 100% loaded and are concerned the wet towels limit what you can put in why not spin the towels first (additional program - select spin) then reload weighing at the spun out weight. I have washed 10-20 towels of various sizes with the 8.5kg eco wash cycle - basically I load until the washer indicates it is 100% full and never been disappointed with the product. Love the ability to load and walk away especially as we are on tank water and although the eco cycle takes longer at full capacity I have other stuff to do rather than sit and watch it wash.
