Not bad. Does the job.

Brasso is now now too thin and doesn't clean brass like it used to

published

The formula has obviously been changed, don't know why, it must be either cost or Health and safety. I shall be looking for an alternative. The wadding alternative is no better.

Terrible!!!

I have always used Brasso and I have been sp pleased with the results. The 'new' Brasso bears no resemblance to the old. It is watery and simply doesn't do the job. They should not be allowed to sell this rubbish!! I did call to complain but to no avail. This is obviously a money saving move and they seem to have cornered the market. However I will look for an alternative and will not waste another penny on Brasso!!!

Not as Good as it Used to be, But Not Terrible

What went wrong?

Brasso was a great product but they have changed the formula and it no longer works. There appears to be no abrasive content ant it has a nasty smell. My strong recommendation is to avoid it like the plague.

Brasso Polish

published

My new bottle of Brasso Metal Polish has a totally different formulation to previous bottles. The new formula smells terrible with toxic fumes and with normal shakeup it did not work at all. After furious shaking it did work better. This polish can only be used outdoors which is a pain.
I usually rinse out the cleaning cloths before putting in a normal wash however the fumes were so bad I could not risk putting them in the washing machine. The fumes are still strong after rinsing and soaking the cloths in water and detergent for 24 hours.

horrible toxic smell

published

What has happened to this product? My dad used it many years it ago and back then it had almost no smell to it. Lucky for me I smelt the product before buying it (after reading the reviews here) and its best to say the smell was toxic and dangerous. Very high fumes to the product and I WOULD NEVER BUY IT. Shame because it works but I hope the makers of this product reads this review and maybe reconsider re making the product.

Sucks

This product used to be good a long time ago, for about 8 years now it does absolutely nothing on brass, it actually makes it look worse. I bought another brand of brass cleaner today at homesense and it was fabulous. I would never recommend this useless product. I threw the brasso out.

From the best to worse than useless

They changed the formulation recently and now it is an anti-polish. It will actually dull a bright finish with fine scratches. A total disaster!

Brasso

published

I've used Brasso on a lot of Brass items like artillery shells and candle holders, etc... Such I am a huge Brass collector it does a really good job on them. You have to use a lot of elbow grease to get it polishing before you have to change to a new paper towel. It will stain clothing and carpets, so be very careful not to spill it.

In the end I think it does a Good job on Brass, Chrome.
Polishes really good.
It smells absolutly terrible (warning do not inhale. I did that, and it was so bad it gave me a burning sensation up my nose, and it hurt badly) stains badly and leaves greassy marks on the metal after polishing. I wish it was in a paste not a liqud.

Brasso polish Australia

Having used Brasso in UK for over thirty years and found it excellent I am very disappointed in the Brasso I have bought in Australia it removes nothing despite how hard I rub. I have a lot of brass and now do not know what to do, whether I should let it dry first or find a product that works here.

Did not work at all on brass

Excellent, does the job

As a AAC cadet I have to polish my ceremonial belt buckles to perfect. I took the advise of other cadets and used Brasso to polish my belt buckles. In the second apply, the buckle was hurting my eyes as it was too shiny. I now polish all other metals with Brasso. Would recommend it to anyone who needs to polish metals.
Reliable, efficient.

Does a fantastic job

published

I used Brasso on a 30 year old set of brass cutlery that had never been polished, and had been through the dishwasher a number of times. It came up looking brand new, very quickly.
The set had about 40 pieces and it took a whole 250mL can to polish them.
Quick, works well, cheap, easy to use

Excellent

I have used alot of this product and it always does a great job.
There is not alot to say about it. I apply it to a cloth and polish away. When it starts to dry out, add more product. I then let it dry and buff it off. The brass always has a great finish and shine to it after it has been polished with Brasso.

Be careful not to spill on surfaces that can soak up the Brasso. For example, pavers or concrete as is soaks it up and its hard to clean up.
Great product!
Good size can. Does a great job
There is nothing that I dislike about this product

I absolutely agree. I will have to throw out the new can of Brasso as I cannot handle the oil refinery smell it emits - even when stored.

I personally wouldnt touch the stuff ever again.

Please DO NOT use this Brasso, it's not like the original Brasso! The Brasso today will leave scratches. I used the original Brasso for decades on my watches and military brass...best stuff ever, BUT they quit that a few years ago and it's now very bad. I complained to Brasso customer service about how sorry it was, they sent me discount coupons so I could buy more sorry Brasso. I threw them away.
