Bravecto for Cats

I applied topical bravecto on my 15 month cat this morning. She was okay the whole day but started to vomit this evening. Now she is just sleepy. Do I need to worry? What home remedy can I give her, or should I wait till tomorrow? Hope you can assist please. Thanks.

Bravecto for Cats

I applied bravecto to my cats about 4 weeks ago. They spend a lot of time outside. I have just spotted a flea on one of them. Can they still pick fleas up being outside and then the fleas die or can they live on them?

I'm sorry, Smito, I can't provide an answer to that one. I'm a bit concerned about my own cat, because he is scratching frantically (although I've not spotted a flea yet). Possibly it might be an idea to try another brand of flea-repellent to see whether that does the trick better.

Bravecto for Cats

I took my 12 year old cat to the vet on 12/5/19 for annual exams and for his skin allergy. they claim he had fleas. hes an indoor cat. they gave him Bravecto flea medication that is suppose to last 12 weeks. keep in mind, he was a very healthy cat. weighed 9.5 pounds. on New Years eve, not even 4 weeks later, we noticed when our cat was breathing, his breathing was alot heavier than normal and his sides were going in an out in a very heavy, strange way. (abnormal) when i picked him up, he would shake his head and open his mouth with his tongue out trying to catch his breath. he seemed to not get comfortable and was very restless. We took him to the vet right away. when we arrived, they said by the way he is breathing, it looked like heart failure. they took him for xray and by the time he got back he had gotten worse within a few mins, due to him being scared. They took one of him sitting up and one on his side. they said it had alot of white on xray which they said meant fluid and said his heart was enlarged. couldnt really see his heart good. they came in and said he has heartfailure and that it would be best to go ahead and put him down. we were so heart broken because this came on all of a sudden! I'm wondering if this could be caused from this flea medication?

Bravecto for Cats

My cat received Bravecto at my veterinarian. I took her there due to a bite on her rear leg. After about a week she could not stand up on her rear legs and now has been licking her fur off or is losing it, I can't tell which. She cannot get to the litter box so wets herself...I try to.put her in the litter box during the day and she just falls over but if she needs to have a BM she can stand just long enough to finish. Could the Bravecto gave done this to her? I think it did. She was a healthy cat prior.

Im sure it is connected. I think it is poison. My cat vomited and is now completely bald around the neck. Will never use nor recommend.

Yes without a doubt.
You need to detox your cat, there are fb groups who will help you with this or find a holistic vet.

My cat flung around as I was applying the bravecto and I think might have gotten a couple drops in her mouth is there something I should do? We sprayed water in her mouth.

Bravecto for Cats

I am very concerned now having read some reviews about bravecto is it safe to use on my 6 yr old cat also exactly how long does it last for ticks my vets said 2 months for both

Hi Tracey, I can only speak for the liquid, not the chews. The liquid, I am told, is a new product. After the experience I had I would say that it is not safe. My 8 year old cat was badly poisoned but survived. As to the length of protection. I was also led to believe it was 2 months for cats and 3 months for dogs. I have since been told that cats are very good at managing ticks themselves. I am now using a flea and tick collar. Hope that helps.

Does Bravecto cause asthma like symptoms? Like coughing & wheezing? Almost like trying to cough up a hairball.

Bravecto for Cats

I gave this to my cat 3 days ago and he had a very bad reaction. Running around like he was possessed, scratching himself uncontrollably, panting and then just laid down. I thought he wasnt going to make it. He is eating and drinking every day but he lays around all day awake or asleep he just doesnt move much. He us a very active cat. Has anyone had this experience and do they get back to their old self after some time or is my cat permanently messed up because of this stuff. I did wash it off with dawn after about 6 hours in. I have a case number from calling the company with there reason for the reaction. Can someone please help?

My girl.couldnt move for a week. I really thought shed pass as her breathing declined and she was cold. I literally slept with her for a week nursing her ans keeping her warm. Thankfully she pulled thru, she has her strength back but is still not back to her active self. But I think in time she will be back to normal

Will77

Yes it lasted a out 4 days for mine. I think I helped minimize the damage because the medicine was still caked in his fur 5 hours later and he let me give him a bath in dawn without a fight. I knew when he didnt fight he was in trouble. He is 100 percent now. Thank you for taking the time to answer.

My cat has a large bald spot that is creating a scaly sore since the vet administered the bravecto for cats. She also started foaming at the mouth when I got her home. The foaming stopped and she is eating, acting normal. Is there an underlying issue?

just purchased this product, have not tried on my smallish 13 year old cat yet. I am afraid to, but I don't think vet will refund. Wondering if I could just try a little at first, cap it, wait & see before I use any more?

I wouldn't! With so man good alternatives, why risk a helpless animals life? Additionally, after treatment, the Vet bills come to just under $400.

Bravecto for Cats

After reading these comments I am scared to death for my cat! However, I ended up with most of it on me! What an awful dispenser! And it has been very difficult to get off my hand....much like super glue. Also, I had an awful experience several years ago with my chocolate lab and ANOTHER brand of topical tick repellent. Poor baby lost half her thick fur on her back and had bloody sores and crusty skin for months. Thankfully, her fur grew back. I always use chewables for her now. If there are chewable for the cars, why did my vet tell me there weren’t any chewables?

I just decided that with what it did to my cat by putting it on the outside, why on earth would I put it on the inside.

Call your emergency vet now. Make sure to tell them how long your cat has been going through this and ask for advise.
Both of my cats were given Bravecto and had an awful reaction to it like yours.
One of mine became so lethargic I called the emergency vet. They told me if she got any worse, to bring her in.
It took almost a week before they were both back to normal.
If I could, I would have Bravecto banned from being used on cats.

Bald spot appears after placing treatment on my xat

I have two indoor cats. This year she decided to use braveto on mine. They didn’t eat for 3 days, vomited repeatedly, were extremely lethargic. I thought my little female was going to die. Mine did not lose hair yet so many others have.
This stuff is poison-my opinion. I will not be using anything even close to this. I actually called Merck who makes braveto. I hope this helps some.

One of my cats got a huge 10 by 3cm bald spot the first time he got it but I never made the connection and thought it was obsessive licking. They got it again 2 days ago and they're both starting to get bald spots. After reading the reviews I washed off what was still left on them, but I'm so scared now

I started bravecto flea and tick spot on for my cat last week and she still has fleas. Don't you state it kills ticks and fleas for 3 months? So why is this still happening?

They will blame your "environment". i.e. you need to get the pest control dude out to do outside and inside your home; this is serious toxic stuff but they say it's OK after it dries and guaranteed to work. If you can afford it - you might need to try this too. However, I also ended up having to give my kitties a calm, and as soothing as possible warm bath in a bit of shampoo (don't drench their heads and torture them) and then dry them off lovingly and brush and brush. Wait a couple of days and redo again with more expensive flea stuff. Also - get CAPSTAR tabs - fleas drop off dead very quickly. However, I can't use the CAPSTAR as I am too hopeless to give tabs to any cat without getting scratched to death. All the best.
