I'm wondering if the machine is noisy? I'm looking to use it in a shared office. Thank you.

Spins milk, whirring sound and beeps to start and end. Not noticed much in kitchen, electric kettle is noisier.

No its not too noisy - and if I pour the milk into the jug whilst its sitting in the machine and activate it without any delay there doesn't seem to be an issue with it stopping due to condensation (and wiping it over as per Breville's instructions doesnt work)

Have had it happen to two separate machines. Usually just have to unplug the unit and this seems to reset it for a little while but then it starts happening again more frequently to the point where I have to buy a new one (as it always happens out of warranty period!). The only reason I came across this site was because I was googling to buy a new one for that very reason. When it works, I absolutely love it.

Clean the inside base plastic clear area and the metal bits where you put the jug.
Often that little clear plastic bit gets dirty and then it overheats the milk.

I had this problem. You just need to push them in more - until they snap in place.

Hi there. I purchased two devices from Amazon. The first one encouraged and convinced me to buy another one for work purpose. Unfortunately, the latter was a real disaster and a pain the head. No frothing no heating. I tried all kinds of full milk products but no luck. The milk come cold and lots of bubbles. I wish I could return it and ask for a refund but I lost Amazon's receipt. Any idea?

Mine takes ages to heat enough milk for two cups of coffee. Literally 1-2 minutes for 60 degrees. Is this normal? I had an aldi frother before this and it was much quicker.

Yes mine takes ages as well and is fairly noisy. I haven't had any other individual frothers before so not sure how it compares to others. The end result is very good so I don't mind waiting. Thanks

Yes for two cups most machines take this time. I always put the milk on first then do the coffee. My previous machine, a Jura which was top of the range also took this long.

Yes this is quite normal. The BMF600 uses gentle induction technology to heat the milk, meaning the milk won't be baked on the vessel and suffer from localised scorching as is common in non-induction systems that affects the taste. ^PM

Is it possible to buy replacement discs? Unfortunately, one of mine has been misplaced and the other disc is not as good at frothing.

Yes, but at about a third of the cost to a new applicance in Australia (at least that is what I discovered when I enquired in October 2014)
If you know someone stateside, or know someone who knows someone, they can order off Breville USA (2 for about $6 U.S.) for you.
Postage to here would be a couple of dollars as they are so light..and it will take a couple of weeks, because they travel from wherever the units are currently manufactured in Asia to the States...and then come back here for a fraction of the cost. Silly isn't it? Perhaps Breville Australia will read this and change their pricing policy.

I havent had to replace the discs but Im sure that they could be ordered for you either online or from the supplier you bought the milk cafe from. If it was under warranty the part would be replaced free. I purchased an extra year of warranty just in case anything like that happened. Good luck. I hope you get the part easily and enjoy the lovely hot, frothy milk.

Hi, I bought this machine from Myer and the handle fell off after only 1 week of use. Can you replace the jug part only without me having to return the whole machine. I'm very disappointed with this obviously.

Hi.
Not sure if this question was for me. I have had no issues with the machine - we use it at least twice a day. I would suggest that you take it up with the store you bought it from. I agree it is very disappointing that the handle has already fallen off.

Just an update: I returned it to Myer and the lady I spoke to was very courteous and helpful and swapped the stainless jug for me on the spot with one that had in stock. I am so glad I bought it at Myer as they sorted it out for me both promptly and painlessly.

What is the hottest temperature this will heat milk to. I have a frother but ditched it after two tries as it doesn't heat the milk hot enough.

Hi Loraine

I have just tried the hottest it came to 67.9 degrees, we don't usually use it at it's hottest. Found that one of the tricks to always getting good froth is to make sure there is not even the slightest bit of water left in it before use, also to make sure the milk is really cold before use. Hope this helps.

Has anyone used this frother with soy? If so, how does it go? All of the reviews I've read mention regular milk...

Hi Lauren-yes my Mum has soy milk and whenever she is over I have made her a coffee with it, no problems at all. I have used the Vitasoy 240ml tiny UHT packs that come in a pack of 3-"VitaCafe". Mum says its the nicest soy milk she has had in latte's. It also rinses out of the frother just as well as regular milk.

Can I heat the milk only without frothing it by taking the spin disc out?

It comes with two little discs. One is used for frothing/heating and the other is for heating only so if you used that one it the book says it will heat the milk for you without the froth.

Hi I tried using it without the discs and yes it did heat the milk - but I then had to scrub the jug usually I just rinse under the tap.

ming.jiang.1422

I thought the two discs are one for cappuccino and one for latte, but I guess I can use the latte one to make less froth and to make the jug easier to clean.

I'm thinking of buying this for the sole purpose of making hot chocolate, mainly out of real chocolate rather than powder. I gather it will not be able to chop blocks so what would be the alternative? Buy chocolate in flake/liquid form, or grind/shave a chocolate block before putting it in? How can I easily melt/grind a solid chocolate block?

Buy chocolate in flake form would work, otherwise you could use a microplane to sh
ave a block of chocolate

Breville
Lucy H.Breville

Hi Adrian,

For best results when using real chocolate we suggest grating the chocolate or using chocolate flakes.

Hope this helps!

Yes grated chocolate works & tastes amazing - much better tasting, and better for you than syrup. You can buy it pre-grated, but I found it just as easy (and much cheaper) to grate a block into a takeaway container and then spoon what I need. You just pop it in near the end of the heating process and it melts and blends easily, or you could just wait for the finish beeps put it in and get it to cold spin for another minute (as it's already heated). Finely chopped might work but it would blend better if it was grated. I feel like hot chocolate now! :P

I can tell you that filling it to capacity, takes no more than 2 or 3 mins.

I like my coffee extra hot, so I use it on around 70 degrees, and it takes about 3 mins for one cup, and maybe 4 mins for 2 cups plus.
