Fantastic Kitchen Appliance
I have owend the Flavour Maker for 12 months and it is terrific. The most appealing feature was having the ability to brown meat on stove top before slow cooking - great for adding extra flavour to dishes with the bonus of a non stick coating makes cleaning very easy. I also use the insert for roasting in the oven. Having the advantage of the lid keeps moisture inside the dish and it even has enough room to add roast vegetables. Couldn't live without it, great concept.

Best Appliance Ever!
I bought this cooker a few months ago after having a disappointing experience with my first slow cooker, a lesser known brand although a similar price.
I absolutely love this cooker. It's compact enough to sit out on my bench which means I use it more, and the fact that I can brown food on the stove first, make gravy later, and even put it into the oven if I want to. It's a great size for our family of four. I've made many meals in it, including curries, the best roast beef ever, lamb shanks, Osso Buco, corned beef, lamb roast and today the...Read more

This is perfect! Can't live without it!
I cannot rave about this item enough!
This is the first review I have ever written online but I just can't help myself.
This Flavour Maker does it all!!
I could give away every other pan and cooking appliance in my kitchen and still be happy. I use this for everything!
It is the perfect size for a family of 4. My best friend has the larger rectangular one and finds that it is too big for her family of 5.
I use this as my saucepan, frypan, roast pan, and ofcouse slow cooker! It is my choice to pull out for all these uses as it cooks so perf...Read more

Is there an induction insert available for the Breville BDC500 slow cooker (to buy as a spare part)?

Does this pot suit an induction cooktop for searing the meat?
Also I have used slow cooker before and my husband complained of lack of flavour. Does this bring out flavour of food or provide bland comparison like other slow cookers?

Searing does bring out flavour. However the pan is aluminium so unlikely to work with an induction cooktop (to my knowledge anyway).

Purchase the Breville Flavour Maker BSC 500 today and after referring to the booklet the pages are incorrect the book goes from page 8 then page 17, 1 7 to 24 then page 17 to 32 page 25 to32 page 41 to 47, not much good if I’m unable to look up a guide to slow cooking.
