when say juicing oranges do you leave skin on or take off when juicing ?? thanks

From experience, even when the manufacturer says the machine will handle the hard skin, I have found with ALL makes of juicers that it is best to PEEL fruit such as oranges and lemons, before juicing. For the record, I have also noticed that the retail juice shops do the same as I do - the oranges are already pre-peeled by staff working out the back of the shop ready for quick juice requests at the front counter. That should tell you a lot. (and many shops seem to be using Breville juicing machines)!

Hi Jenelle / Fitza, citrus fruits need to be peeled first. This is partly because the skin is so thick, and also because the white part of the skin will create a bitter flavour. Limes are an exception to this, and can go in with skin on.
Peel all citrus I leave the skin on apples peel carrotts as well

I was really surprised that my recently purchased BJE400 Juice Fountain Max didn't come with an instruction booklet - was it supposed to??
I have managed to wash, reassemble and make a juice though - it's a ripper!

Yes! It definitely should have come with a booklet explaining how to use it, as with almost all products these days. If you have washed and reassembled it already, then you have mastered it, in my personal opinion.

i don't know how to start and use breville juicer bje410 . iam in india and don;know about the voltage system .please explain

Hi Sarath,
Have you purchased a BJE410 juicer? What country did you purchase it in - Australia, or USA/Canada? Australian appliances are suited to 220-240 volts, while USA/Canadian appliances are suited to 120 volts. If you are unsure, please turn the unit over, and look at the Electrical Rating label on the base of the product - this will tell you the voltage that your juicer needs to run.
India runs on 220 volts, so you should be ok to use it if it is the Australian version.
I hope this helps.
As advised by Breville, check the voltage 1st.
If that is OK, there should be an instruction booklet. Go to page 7 in the booklet and item 'L' is pointing at the toggle switch that controls 'LOW';OFF';HIGH. Middle position is OFF. I move to HIGH and the motor should start immediately.
If still not working, go to pages 9 and 10 in the booklet and ensure you have assembled the parts correctly? These machines are designed to be taken apart and re-assembled easily and quickly (for cleaning) and the only thing I can think of, is to make sure the 'arrow' on the stainless steel basket is lined up and when it is, gently push into place and you should hear a 'click'.

Hi I have the BJE520 and am finding it to be really good. What I haven't figured out is the best speed setting for leafy greens such as kale and spinach - is it better at a slow of fast speed. Also I have the same question for ginger. Thanks
4 answers
Hi, Low speed for both. I have read through my Manual -recipe book. The recipe for Sweet Potato,Celery,Ginger and orange Juice, Suggest using both High and low speeds. When juiceing leafy greens make into a bunch or juice in the middle of other ingredients. Cheers
I use high speed for the greens, not sure if it's the done thing, but in a wad, with an item like ginger or sweet potato above them to help push them thru. I tell you what, parsley tastes fantastic juiced!
BrevilleBreville
We recommend using a higher speed for leafy greens. Try speed 4 for kale and spinach, and speed 5 for ginger.
