Great microwave but noticed the steam won't escape and now I have rust inside...
I've just found out today, after 1 month and 11 days old, that I have rust inside the microwave. Noticed that when I use the microwave, inside the top part is all wet and water dropping down, this means the steam cannot escape and accumulates, should it have good ventilation? The unit is on the bench with nothing around or on top off it. Very disappointing as I do not wish water with rust to drop down on my food....

Quite simply, a brilliant microwave. Firstly, it looks great. Second, it has so many functions and setting to properly nuke anything you need. The pre-programmed buttons inside the door are so clever.
LCD display is great. I did wish it went to sleep straight away rather than waiting 5 minutes after use and then beeping.

I love this microwave! Since bringing it home yesterday, I found it easy to set up and works like a charm. Heats evenly, is quiet and looks great on my bench. No problems with noise or hot panels at all. Breville has a winner here.

Uber stylish, very intuitive and oh so simple to use, this microwave takes the thinking out of Defrosting, Reheating and Cooking. The Breville Quick Touch Microwave comes with a large side shortcuts panel that will help you quickly and easily with a quick touch of a button and the turn of a knob; cook, reheat or defrost your meals. The Microwave offers a Quick Cook, Quick Reheat and Quick Defrost button that you can select. Inside the door there is another panel of buttons called the Sensor IQ. You have Sensor IQ Cook, Reheat and Defrost and th...
Read moreese buttons automatically measure the humidity released from the food to determine the correct cooking time. It starts cooking/reheating or defrosting the food at the correct temperature and then around 45-30 seconds the time left will come on to let you know that your food is almost ready. The LCD panel is easy to read and the Microwave is always ready to go for 30 seconds; all you need to do is add your food, close the door and push start. Push it again to add another 30 seconds. The microwave is super quick and easy to use and the buttons and dials are easy to work with, yet the quality of the product and fixtures helps to reassure me that it is a long lasting product. Researched this microwave before I purchased it. Read all these reviews and I've not had an issue with over heating and the noise is at an acceptable level. HOWEVER I put a frozen meal the the microwave at the recommended smart feature of the microwave. It goes for about 20 minutes and is still frozen! I then have to keep fiddling with the cook feature and end up with dry over cooked food that I could of just reheated in the over or stove and have it take the same time.
Is anyone's else having these problems? Cooking is fine and works good just defrost and reheating are very disappointing.
easy to use
doesn't defrost my food!
Have not used the microwave oven for defrosting, as yet. However, I can not fault the reheating function.
Hi Gooberish - can you please contact customer service to discuss this in more detail- 1300 139 798. Thanks. ^rm
Wanted to replace our convection microwave but no specials around... Settled for this though if was sceptical initially due to reviews. Turned out to be best microwave even though we only really use this for reheating and cooking frozen veggies etc... It wasn't quiet but no louser than any other microwave I ever had.... And hey, one only uses it for minutes at a time!! However, I generally use this for three meals a day!!
The dials are the best even invention.... Very intuitive with tens of buttons in my previous microwave which we never used.... So far everything cooks and heats up perfectly without any splatter!!! I love this microwave!
Nothing so far....
I also use it to cook fish now twice weekly, always perfectly done with no splatter.... No more washing up frying pan and grease splatter!!!
Happy to say mine is still going strong after 2 years. The only negative feature I find is the beep despite finished using it.... I love the Dial and the A Bit More button ... No microwave explosions which I used to have a lot of

I wanted to take advantage of the $200 price tag on this product at Big W, but was deterred for a while by some of the negative reviews on this site, particularly the reported noise and overheating. In the end I purchased online from Harvey Norman and have had the product for only a couple of weeks.
So far my family and I are delighted with the unit. While the Breville is marginally noisier than our previous microwave (LG), it doesn't intrude at all even though our living area adjoins the kitchen. We haven't experienced any overheating so fa...
Read morer, but we don't cook whole dinners in our microwave ovens. It usually gets short bursts of a few minutes. So far I think we haven't run this unit for more than 20 minutes continuously. Since I purchased at half price, I didn't bother extending the warranty. We'll give it a good workout over the 12 months 'replacement' warranty period. Solid construction and well finished, great appearance and functionality, 'replacement' warranty rather than 'repair' warranty (as for most brands). Nothing so far.Update after a couple of months' usage: Still no problems with this unit. In fact, the more we use it, the more we like it.
Eight months later, still no problems with this product, but family members say they'd prefer a push-button appliance rather than control knobs. The timer knob is quite sensitive and it's easy to acci...
Read moredentally set the time to, say, 45 mins instead of 2 mins. Personally, I don't have a problem with it, but button settings are more precise and less prone to mishap.I've owned this unit for over a year and it's still performing perfectly. However, but I'd go back to push-button technology next time. The 'dial-a-time' knob can be annoying.

Great features, and intuitive interface. Especially like the favourite & programmable short cut buttons. However the unit failed to heat anything after it was around 30 days old. The turntable spins but the magnetron appears to have failed. If purchasing this unit I would recommend getting an extended warranty to be safe.
Design, user interface.

We are very sorry to hear about your problem with the Quick Touch. We would really appreciate if you could call our customer service department on 1300 139 798 so that we can organise to retrieve this unit for investigation
Hi Breville, Thanks for your feedback. When the unit failed I contacted your service department on 1300 139 798 and they advised to call the shop where I purchased it. I called the shop (The Good Guys...

I purchased this microwave firstly because of the door. I got sick of microwaves that would work great but the door open button not work. But soon fell in love with all the features. We cook and defrost in the microwave everyday. Cooking rice, pasta, steaming vegetables, defrosting bread amd reheating left overs are done daily in my house. So it gets a massive amount of use. It's teenage and husband proof. I haven't set favourites yet as everything we do is easy to do.
The size. Fits all my big containers. Large family mean cooking large meals.
Can not read the clock. Why have one if you can only see it for a few minutes after use.
Yes this machine is extraordinarily noisy. My 20yo microwave that just died was never anything close.

This microwave is highly recommended everywhere! Choice, here and every sales person we came across. So this was definitely the one we wanted, no question! We played with the display model in store and was happy with the sound and dials etc, so away we went with our brand new one.... Yay! We got home and plugged it in, placed a cup of water inside and turned it on........Oh my gosh! The noise was soo loud!! It did not sound like the one in store at all! We decided something was wrong and took it back the next day. We exchanged for another new o...
Read morene, no problem! We got the new one home and guess what, it had the same sound. This was just the start, not only did it have this loud noisy humming sound that is almost unbearable we noticed that it got really really hot on the top right side. So hot that it would burn your hand if you were to keep it on there! So... We contacted breville and they agree that it gets hot but this is normal for this model?! I'm not sure how they think it's o.K for an electrical appliance to get soo hot? Surely this is a safety concern? However we kept it for a week until it decided to over heat soo much that it powered itself completely off! I have contacted breville on 3 separate occasions and they still assure me that the hot surface on top is normal? Finally, the turntable stopped working, all of this within 2 weeks. I really really wanted to like this microwave however, i couldn't live with an appliance that cooked itself! So we regretfully returned the microwave and chose another brand to my dislike. Liked the turn dial. Being able to change times during cooking. Sensor cooking. It got way too hot on the top right side! Very very noisy. Turntable stopped working. We are very sorry to hear about your problems with the Quick Touch Microwave. We value your comments and feedback and they have been forwarded to the development and quality teams.

Our family purchased this model of oven on the 20th of March of this year. So far our family has been impressed with the performance of this oven. This oven is easy to use; the controls and digital display makes one an intuitive user. The rotary dials are simplicity in action. The ability to adjust the cooking time and power level during operation are useful features. The IQ Cook feature cooks delicious and succulent corn on the cob. After researching extensively before deciding to purchase this microwave oven I consider the manufacturer's comm...
Read moreents about this product's ease of operation and quality of cooked/reheated food lives up to their claims. One small point I found was that the instruction manual was inaccurate with regard to the oven pausing half way through a cycle to allow the user to turn the food. I contacted Breville Australia and they looked into my comment and informed me that the manual was not accurate. During the researching of this product I found that my local Harvey Norman store had this oven on display, connected to mains power, in order for customers to "test out" the oven's controls and settings. The microwave emitting part of the oven had been disconnected for obvious reasons. My wife and I found the ability to "test out" the oven before purchasing very informative. ease of operation and quality of food cooked/reheated nothingI have just read below from Breville, "There should no longer be any overheating issue as this has been addressed in manufacturing 6 months ago." I bought a Breville Quicktouch microwave and yes they are extremely intuitive. Very well thought out microwave. Unfortunately one of the most important features, defrost, is utterly useless. Select steak, select weight, click start, wait til it beeps.... pull steak out... still frozen in the centre. Same with every meat we've tried. They need to fix this quickly as it could be a fantastic microwave.
Intuitive design
Defrost program is useless
I am sorry that you have experienced problems with the Defrost setting. During the development of the defrost meat setting, we found that different types of meat density will give varying results. Res...
Read moreearch indicated that defrosting mince was the most common task, and therefore we based our program on mince. In terms of the frozen centre, the instruction booklet also specifies that the meat will continue to thaw for 5-10 minutes on standing (namely the rest phase) and this will defrost the core. This ensures, optimal results with no cooked or browned edges. Meat varies in density, temperature, fat content and shape. All these factors affect microwave results. Thanks Brevile for the quick response. Yes that is helpful although in future models I would definitely consider upping either the power or time for defrost for the various meat programs.
I like that it errs on the side of underdone because you can always add more, but if it cooks you cant go back..... I hate when defrost starts to cook the meat.

Sensor IQ Cook, and Reheat is clever. I have not tried the defrost, as yet.
