Has anyone tried to cook quinoa in the BRC460? If so, can you tell us how? Nothing in the manual and customer service at Breville weren't really helpful, other than to say if it's cooked by the absorption method, no reason you can't.
Hey, for anyone interested I just experimented and it works brilliantly, just set it to rice and added 1 cup of quinoa to 1.5 cups of water. I let cool then added mint and parsley leaves together with lemon rind. Yum yum.
Hi! I would like to know what c3 error code is? I've had tgis rice cooker for 5 years now.
Hi,
My rice cooker does not work and all its lights turn on and flash. And a letter 'C3' appears. I asked its producer, Breville about the error. They said that there is no part of effect repair and...

Problem - wires going to the lid from circuity below have severed at the hinge due to repetitive strain. ...
Read more Solution - join wires together by crimping new segment in between. The base needs to have the screws removed, handles pulled out (while in down position), remove security screw that is holding the power socket in place, slide power socket out and have casing removed. Top cover needs to pry open two plastic coverings that are push fit together to expose the foil with the heater wire and sensor wire underneath. Look at the joint of the hinge to find severed wire and joint back together with electrical crimp connectors. Put back appliance together and done. Thanks Sonny T. Your response was spot on. My rice cooker is working now.
I have just purchased the Rice Box cooker. Can someone tell me if you need to remove the steam vent in the lid for regular cleaning? This is not mentioned in the manual and it does not seem to want to come out and I don't want to damage it trying. Thank you
Hi there, Mine comes out! If you put your finger under the back part of the vent and wiggle it a little, it should pop out. There is a small rubber type seal underneath holding it in. This vent (the p...

I wouldnt think you would have to clean in there all the time but that would be each persons choice. Hope that helps :)Thank you very much AWilkinson. Does the little rubber seal underneath come off too ?
Thank you for asking that question. I have been puzzling with that for awhile. Disappointed something so crucial to health was not in the instruction manual.

Can this rice cooker cook brown rice too?
Indeed! Cooks brown rice beautifully and we cook it often. My son always loves the aroma wafting through our house. Just remember to add an additional measure of water i.e. 2 cups of rice to 3 cups of water.
What's the smallest amount of rice that can be cooked in this? I only cook for myself and prefer not too much leftovers.
Fair question, according to the booklet they seem to recommend 2 rice box cups which is equivalent to 280g of uncooked rice. I've never used just one cup (140g) as my family is 3 people, hope this he...
