Great workhorse for protein shake or cocktail applications.
Blend ability is excellent and does a great job of blending ice or solid food into liquids. You certainly know that it is working by the noise that it makes but the result is tremendous.
Do not overload the unit, use super hot liquids that expand or fizzy drinks in the blender because it will leak like a puppy through its spindle seal in the base. Rinse out and hand wash immediately to make cleaning really easy.
After 5 years of regular use, my red unit is a favourite purchase.

Faulty straight out of the box
...NOT..HAPPY..JAN...!!
Yesterday I bought a BPB550BAL2JAN1 - the Breville Boss To Go, smoothie blender, because after looking around at just what else was available in the "Smoothie Maker" market in terms of competing products, I quite liked the 'solid build' look of it and the fact that it was also an Australian company that I would be supporting with my purchase.
However, when I got it home and unpacked it from the box I then found that the "screw threads" that are 'molded' into the Lid of the 'spare/second lid' tumbler, are ..totally ...

It looks like they were 'melted' ie, completely damaged during the actual molding process when the lid was being produced in the (Chinese) factory where I subsequently discovered these things are made. Very obviously, there is, ..ABSOLUTELY..NO..PRODUCTION..LINE..QUALITY..CONTROL.. being applied to these things, as they are being churned out, in their thousands, in China.

A question regarding information which I cannot find anywhere on the Breville website. Can you put the parts in the dishwasher? Many blenders, including the one I own now, tell you NOT to put the blade section in the dishwasher. The problem is that trying to wash the blade unit by hand is difficult, somewhat dangerous (those blades are sharp) and it is difficult not to leave a slightly greasy residue, even with lots of detergent.
You will do so ..completely.. at your own risk..! I personally, would NEVER, put ANY of the parts of my own BPB550BAL in the dishwasher. Why..? Because NONE, of the largely plastic parts were eve...
Read morer designed to safely withstand the combination of high temperatures and very caustic detergents, that all dishwashers employ during their wash cycles, AND if ANY of that caustic dishwasher water, gets past the spindle shaft seal, and into the blade's spindle bearing, even just one tiny drop of it, during the hot-caustic wash process, then you can immediately, kiss goodbye, to all of the money that you have spent to buy it, and you certainly then wont be covered under those circumstances, by the terms of the Breville warranty, either. Now I don't know just what it is, that you're 'blending' in yours, that would be leaving any "difficult to remove and slightly greasy residues" on the blades, but, at the very most, all that I would dare, use on it, would be a stiff bristled kitchen hand washing-up brush, with some undiluted liquid kitchen washing detergent on it, and a bit of good old fashioned 'elbow-grease'.Get an answer from our members and Breville representatives
