Brother HL-L8250CDN / HL-L8350CDW
HL-L8350CDW, HL-L8250CDN (See All)Between my workplace, voluntary organisations and home, I've used a lot of different printers over the years and this is by far the worst!
*The wifi connection regularly drops out and is often difficult to reconnect.
*I can't get my default settings to 'stick' - every time I finish printing and return to the printer later, it's gone back to factory settings.
*Print quality is grainy and pixelated
*Despite having a 'glossy' setting, I can only print one single glossy paper page every half hour or so, or the ink is just burred and transferred all over the page
*Duplex printing only works sporadically
Just don't buy one, I'll be replacing it as soon as I can afford to do so!

This was an upgrade from my Brother 2170W as I need to print in colour and use the automatic two sided printing. Huge fan of the old 2170W so I did not even consider other Brands. Unfortunately badly disappointed.
Default print quality is poor as it is grainy and white is patchy;
Automatically switching to colour when printing black and white documents increases costs;
Printing second duplex page upside down and ignoring the flip long/short edge setting;
Very slow to wake from sleep mode and whilst it may print fast when it in active mode...
Read more, it is certainly not the 30 pages per minute claimed; Colour is too saturated, i.e. too much ink and higher costs; To get the best from this printer you will need to reload the drivers from Brother everytime windows 10 does a major update (I think its 3 in 2 years) and you will need to check print settings probably at each print. This is not a no nonsense plug and play colour laser printer. After installing the latest driver from Brother, not Windows default drivers, it does fix the duplexing and colour problems. However, it seems to create a conflict between my old Brother 2170W printer using windows drivers and does not reliably print. I used the old printer for about 8 years with minimal trouble so am convinced that it's a driver clash. More examples of plug and play.
