Bought an Ecotank EPSON which failed immediately after filling with ink. Didn't realise the model had no scanner and didn't want to pay $500+ for one that did so went for the Brother. Recommended by the Officeworks staff member and it has been great from the get go. My old printer was 10 years old and it was a Brother as well so should have stuck with the brand. Was seduced by the no cartridge concept on the EPSON and I must say the initial loading of ink was super easy. However it failed to recognise that ink had been filled. Well done Offi

Border MFC-J4440DW printer
Excellent printer, in the past I had Epsons & Canons which were twice as expensive and not even half as good as this little beauty
Super easy to set up, excellent colour with good visibility operating window, doesn’t drop out from wi-fi, easy to load cartridges, fast double side printing, excellent quality
5 stars from me
( not for bulk photocopying, some reviewers don’t understand it’s mainly home PRINTER)

Very Happy with this Printer
. Easy to set up.
. Printing without issue. Quite fast.
. Great that it comes with ink cartridges, ready to load. They say approx 1years worth of ink. Yet to be confirmed.
. Haven't used the scan function yet.
This Printer is like a Ashtray on a Motorcycle!
I bought this about a month ago and I cannot remember a single printing experience which was pleasant since this day!
For a start, loading paper page by page, one by one, should be illegal!
But given that you are unable to load the single page without a fault appearing and prompting the required process of pulling half the printer apart to clear the fault is super frustrating and just simply ridiculous!
The quality of the print is nothing to write home about but was willing to accept this due to the price of the printer...but at this stage, it

Positives: I could set it up, alas with a number of paper jams without paper being placed in the machine, but connectivity is good. Perfect for single page printers who are used once a month by a super patient person. Negatives:
Fast compact MFC lower cost ink jet printer
After limping along for several months, my Brother MFC-J4620DW MFC ink jet printer/scanner/copier finally hit the printing brick wall over the Christmas/New Year break. The J4620DW is a traditional ink jet printer with expensive cartridges, which was an irritation even though my print volumes are low.
So I was happy to see that ink jet manufacturers had introduced Eco Tank/Ink Tank options to their ranges since my last purchase in 2016. After comparing specifications and features along with the cost of replacement ink and how much printing I d
... Read moreo, I decided to stick with Brother and bought the J4440DW from Officeworks for $295. The other contender was the Epson Eco Tank ET-2811, which Officeworks is selling for $395. The two machines have a similar costs of $455 to $470 for the first two years of use if you factor in a set of replacement inks ($160 for the J4440DW or $75 for the ET-2811). The Epson will print more pages than the Brother for that money but the Brother has an automatic document feeder and supports duplex printing - neither of which is available with the Epson. The Brother is also fully controllable from the front LCD panel while an app is required to achieve the same result with the Epson. On balance, I went for the Brother. If my print volumes stay low, I might even get more than two years printing from the initial set of INKvestment cartridges. Setup was straightforward. It took about about 30 minutes for a full install, including the optional PaperPort software, connecting to a home Wi-Fi network and installing the J4440DW on all our connected devices (hint: use a stylus or pen to drive the LCD screen rather than your fingers).Questions & Answers
What is the cost of printing per page?
Can you use a USB cable to connect into your computer ?
Yes you can. There's a usb input front left, but this is just for image transfer. However there is a connection under the scanner lid which has a cable path to the back of the machine to allow pc connections via a usb cable.
does this machine scan double sided?
