I am fairly certain Canstar reviews for products are paid for by the company they review. There reviews are completely different to what a person experiences when they deal with the company concerned.

Travel Insurance
I reviewed various travel insurance options via Canstar. I purchased a product recommended by Canstar however it was $13.69 (10%) dearer going via their link as opposed to going directly to the insurance provider.
Canstar states their service is free and that they derive some of their income as commissions from the providers which I fully understand. But in my case I was charged for the service which I request be refunded by Canstar. I would recommend using their service to compare products but once you decide go directly to the provider rather that clicking on the Canstar link.
I will never make that mistake again !!

We do provide links to providers’ websites should you wish to find out more detail such as the price or to apply, and we may receive a referral fee when this happens.Your response doesn’t alter the fact that it’s cheaper to purchase directly from the Provider’s web page than to go via Canstar’s link. My case proves that.

If not, it should be made clear by Canstar that the price might be higher if you connect via your link. Further there should be a warning IF YOU WANT A CHEAPER PRICE THEN DON'T CLICK ON THIS LINK.

more constar than canstar
surveys by canstar are private and nobody knows how they conduct their "surveys"
perhaps they just called a few of their mates
Constar gave RAC travel insurance 5 stars
Our own experience with RAC insurance is the opposite: I found them to be liars and downright thieves
They constantly make false and misleading statements and commercials.
Take their current TV commercials where they spruik being "local"
