Issue
I've purchased a step through cell ultimo E1.0 e bike from Aldi Riverwood NSW, mid February 2020.
On set up I fully charged the bike overnight as instructed and went on short trips (approx 8 kms per day) at only 20% assist. This worked well for only 4 days.
Since then, the bike assist reoccuringly fails to kick in.
To remedy this issue I turn off and restart the system, this also worked.
Now however the system has declined even further. Daily the bike assist will work for a minute but then fails and even if I restart the system I will at max...Read more

Perfect bike !
I was very lucky, as I managed to get the last bike for $499. What a bargain. My husband mounted it for me, I only use it for leisure and I really enjoy riding this bike. Great value for money. Would have liked a front basket or phone holder but for the price I can’t complain

Really good bike at a good price
Bought the bike at Aldi for $999. The manual helped me to put it together in 2 hours. I am an experienced cyclist, but getting on. I substituted my favourite seat and pedals from an earlier bike, recommended. I am just a fraction over 6 feet, so seat had to go quite high, and I could hardly touch the ground, but OK. Plenty of power from the motor even when on the lowest setting. Bike feels safe because it's quite long. Quickly began doing 30-35 km rides, battery usually starts conking out at 40 km, so its best to conserve it when you can by tur...Read more
ning it off. I only use lowest setting. Doing something a bit silly, I broke 2 spokes on the back wheel, contacted the company who sent me 6 replacements FREE! Best recommendation: I like this bike so much, I've just bought another for family members! For a long ride (say up to 90 km) I can now carry the second battery in my pannier bag.Purchased in February 2021 at ALDI for A$999.00.

Excellent bike for the best price
I bought this bike today at Aldi for an excellent deal.Very sturdy. easy to assemble, manual was helpful.Rode the bike...wow what a fun. I am 90 kg, Even with 20% battery effort I felt very comfortable to ride the bike ..It has integrated lights... no need to search for batteries or to carry power bank to recharge. It also has an USB out to charge the phone.lcd display is great (really nice colour display) everything working as it should be. Hope it will not give any electrical issues.Motor is really smooth,I can feel the pull when I pedal initially ...it’s really fun.I will do the long term review or update if it gives any trouble

Great bike at the low price point
We bought two of these in December 2022 to lower our carbon emissions. So far we've cut 250km of local car trips (in 45 days) equating to running cost savings of $35 on our car and around 50kg less carbon emissions. The bikes have been overwhelmingly fun and a new enjoyable activity for us. We now come up with excuses to go for a ride.
The bikes are impressive. We live in a hilly area in the Byron Bay hinterland and rarely used our regular bikes as the uphill climbs are too hard and we get all sweaty. With the e-bikes we cruise around and go mu...Read more

If the motor worked would have rated 5 stars
I have the similar complaint. I bought a step through cell ultimo E1.0 e bike from Aldi in Perth. I fully charged the bike overnight and went on short trips (7kms per day) .This worked a treat and I was very happy with the bike. However, this lasted only for 4 days or approximately 30 km's . Since then, the bike assist fails to kick in. When I turn off and start the system, it works for a bit (1 min) and then fails to give the assist. The first 30 kms I was using only 20% assist. Now at full assist and low gear, I find there no assist to go uphill. The downhill is also similar.

Great bike! Shame it does not work
I was surprised to read George's experience which is exactly mine. Bought the bike mid December from Aldi Sunshine Vic for $ 999. Did a 30 km trip perfectly on the original battery charge. Charged it and it failed after 10 minutes in the ride. After several failures and emails with the Cell support team who had never heard of the problem, I swapped the bike for a step-through since I also found it hard to swing my leg over the battery pack. I have not taken the new one for a long ride yet. This is my first urban bike and I love the upright feel, the gearing, sturdiness of the bike, night lights and assistance going uphill. If the motor works, I would give it 5 stars.

Maybe I was unlucky to have a bike that would stop the electric assistance after about 10 minutes
I bought this from Aldi after reading excellent reviews from at least 3 organisations. I fully charged the battery overnight and the next day I tried it for a short 6km trip. it worked ok for about 10 minutes and then suddenly the motor stop assisting although the control unit showing full power. I turned the system off and on from the controller and the assistance worked for few seconds and died again. This happened on climbing a hilly road. So basically the bike will let you down when you need it the most. I tried different levels of assistan...Read more
ce and the same problem happened. Tried to call the supplier but after waiting few minutes on the phone I get a message no one available to take my call. I was so disappointed with this bike I return it straight away to Aldi who refunded me the purchase price. Maybe this was a problem specific to this bike only, not sure but I had an ebike previously and it worked fine all the time on the same roads.Purchased in January 2021 at ALDI for A$799.00.
