We needed to move out stuff our Launceston rental to 20km away. I was very clear the unload was to be done after hours. They allowed us a "PM pick up" once our possessions were on board they changed their tune and said any after hours would incur additional rates of $175 an hour. We argued to and fro until I agreed. Arriving they requested payment of an additional $440! As after hours starts at 4pm and to allow for their time to get back to the depot (20mins away). I refused. They took my stuff. I moved from Regional Tasmania to Sydney and I am unhappy and dissatisfied. Very dodgy and untrustworthy. Great customer service and helpful when preparing the quote and arranging to pick up my items, but once money changes hands, don't expect any help if something goes wrong!

Two of my cartons went missing and have never been found.
I paid an extra charge for difficult delivery to my residence in Sydney which was unnecessary.
My bicycle arrived damaged.

Entire contents of house for 3 people held in storage at site for a period of 2 1/2 years due to family legal matters.
A request for hold of consignment and authority to access order being implemented and a letter of acknowledgment from Chess Price Removals stating these facts being placed on consignment.
To find out after the fact that the consignment was in fact accessed and taken delivery of direct from the ware house without both parties having given permission for such action.

Moved from Devonport to Hagley. 3 bedroom house. After loading from one garage decided to move truck to the other driveway which was quite steep, I suggested this was an "idiotic idea" only to be told "we are professionals and do this all the time". So imagine my surprise when they opened the doors to find all the boxes, at least 60 I could count, had fallen from the front of the truck to the back because they had not tied the load off. In late May 2014 we moved from Launceston, Tasmania to Melbourne, Victoria, with Chess handling the move across Bass Strait.

The move was without incident from the time of providing the quote through to picking up our possessions and delivering them a few days later in Melbourne. The three Launceston packers did a great job fitting a household of possessions into the container and on delivery in Melbourne one of the unloaders even provided a chair so my aged parent was able to 'supervise' the unloading.
