Has anyone ever done a 1 hour layover through Guangzhou? I am going to Seoul Incheon Airport and they have a flight that has an option of a 1 hour layover and i was wondering if that was enough?

Guangzhou airport is in a bit of a mess!
I had the misfortune of being transported by bus from aircraft to terminal. Airbridge is either not working or serving some others.
If your aircraft is not docked to an airbridge, your one hour layover may not leave you with time to go to the toilet.
You have to take the bus if you arrive from international flight as Guangzhou Airport only has one entrance for the international arrivals so far.
You need to keep at least 2and a half hour to ensure you can get to the gate on time

For a 23 hour flight from India to Los Angeles, China Southern seems to have the cheapest economy rates but how are they in terms of :
1. Leg room/comfort of seats ?
2. Vegetarian food?
3. Do they serve liquor?
4. Can we carry our laptops in cabin baggage?
5. Do we get any pillow & warmer to wrap if it gets too cold?

We just came back from a 22 hour flight from Melbourne to Amsterdam. Very comfortable seats, plenty room compared to other planes. A few weeks before our return flight, we have called the China Southern office at the airport to order vegetarian food. All meals we've got were vegan. The wine was good (I don't know about liquor). I have seen other passengers with a lap top. On every seat is a pillow and a blanket.
Lot's of good movies and entertainment at every seat.

OMG! If you haven't travelled with them yet, then I'd tell you do NOT! Liquor? Ha ha! I am NOT a big drinker but do like a glass of wine with my dinner... I was given a glass - this was a half plastic glass, half filled & never refilled! Ok, that was not my real problem. My real problem was the quality of the food - simply gross for me. Service, whilst superficially friendly, was very limited

How can I contact to make a claim for baggage breakage?

Contact customer service. Did you file a claim at the airport? If yes then only you can file a claim.
Normally, if you discover the baggage breakage at the airport, you should immediately contact the China Southern Airlines counter at the baggage claim area for making the claim immediately. If you only discover the baggage breakage when you have left the airport, then one problem is how can you prove the baggage breakage was happened during the China Southern Airlines flight?

Hi guys,
Looking at booking tickets with China Southern from Sydney to Beijing with transit in Shenzen. Wondering what would happen if I did not catch connecting flight and instead used ticket to for Sydney-Shenzen return? Flight to Beijing via Shenzen is cheaper than Shenzen on its own, and it will save me from flying to Beijing and having to travelling down South to where I need to get to. Is this do-able? Has anyone done this before?

I would call China Southern - I was a passenger.
You'd better ask your agent for this. I had a situation where I didn't use my connecting flight - my returning ticket couldn't work. I had to ring my ticketing agent and pay the differences for not using the connecting flight. So, yes, you can do it but you might end up paying the differences which makes it no longer any cheaper.

Hi, We are looking at relocating from the US to Guangzhou in August 2017 with two small dogs. We are terrified of having them in cargo and it doesn't look like they'd be allowed in the cabin (even though they would probably fit under the seats). Does anyone have any experience with transporting their dogs with CS? Does the airline offer any sort of assurance throughout the flight (pet monitoring, can they let us know the temperature where the dogs are, etc?) This could be a deal breaker for us, so we are trying to do our research before making our decision. Thank you!

Sorry, can't answer the direct Q but China Southern are a very big airline with many international routes so must have the capability to carry pets. I would contact their Customer Services Dept. and ask them for details, I guess China may also have national quarantine requirements? For info on that I would contact the PRC Embassy and seek advice there.
We have flown several intercontinental trips with CS and have been pleased with their on-board service, aircraft, ground services and so on.

I don't think you will be able to bring them onboard with you in the passenger area, I think there is a separate area where they keep pets in cages. The best is to check with the airline. To be honest with you, I would recommend you to choose a US or Virgin Atlantic airline since they should have better experience to handling transportation of pets.
One other note, one of my friend told me that pets are subjected to be quarantined for a month at the custom. But this could be an old info since my friend migrated from US to China a few years back. good luck.

Kylie, As with most airlines now Exit Row seats are available at a cost, not always monetary. If you're traveling Economy then it's first come first served, but I have been lucky most times. Depending on where you're flying from you could always get in early with your Online Check-in and choose your own seat. If you have any kind of medical condition you will not be able to sit in the Exit Row Seats, but there are between 8-10 front row seats with plenty of leg room. Alternatively if you book early enough you could snaffle up a Premium Economy Seat at really competitive prices. Happy Traveling.

I am flying Syd - Del with 2 kids (4 and 2 year old) with China Southern. The layover is approx 1.05 hour, Can I request airport assistance- if yes, then how, as I am a bit worried that the time won't be enough to reach the connecting flight?

Really not a good idea to book flights with such a short layover- this airline will offer you no assistance whatsoever, and will likely be late anyway, so good luck!

yes, they will give a free hotel voucher to any traveller whose connection is 8 hours or longer. They have a special service at the airport that organizes it. There is a choice of airport hotels, transport to and from the hotel and a breakfast voucher. See their website for more detailed information.

We have just returned from trip Brisbane to Beijing to Shanghai to Brisbane & were able to upgrade on the flight through the stewardess to Premium Economy or Business Class for each leg individually, payment is by credit card only & in US dollars $124.00 for P/E. I believe they announce on the plane if anyone is interested, I asked the girl at the door when boarding & was told yes & the price. Excellent well worth it!!!!!
