Epic fail

published

I was counting on this to provide relief from runny nose, runny eyes, sore throat and sneezing. It used to work.
I started to panic when it was offering absolutely NO relief, at this time no body wants to think they have something other than cold or flu!
Then I realised the formula has changed and there’s nothing useful in it.
Don’t waste your money and don’t be alarmed when it doesn’t work.

Does very little, if anything at all.

The new formula is a fail. Should be banned for false advertisement. It hasn't stopped my nose dripping and I still feel like crap. Bring back the old formula that actually worked.

Useless

Made me feel sleepy and did nothing for my nasal congestion. The original formula was much more effective. A real shame that it doesn’t seem to be made any more.

I'm still alive!

published

So glad I finally bought this after cold after cold all this winter. Now I have the flu! Shaking and trembling, fevered, diarrhea, coughing up a lung that doesn't help having emphysema! Body aches and skin crawling - ugh, thought I was close to death and redoing my will.
So, I took 2 of the daytime tablets 4 hours ago and lay on my death bed and wallah! now I'm much brighter, still coughing but runny nose not so bad and more energy without muscle pain and more energy and able to get up and deal with life without saying my prayers ad nausea um. Time to take my 2nd lot for the day and hope the relief continues.

Makes me nauseous

published

I had regular flu symptoms and took this to ease the bad muscle aches and temp fluctuations but it made me feel really sick. 20 minutes after taking two day tablets I ended up vomiting. I felt nauseous for three days after. So bad. Made it much worse. Bring back the codeine formula- at least it was somewhat relieving.

Does not work.

published

This product did virtually nothing to relieve my symptoms. Avoid altogether and look for the Original Formula instead. In NSW that means handing over some I.D to make the purchase so make sure you have some handy.

Not work

published

Did nothing for me too. Nose kept dripping. I take Telfast usually for allergy and it works but not Codral and it was recommended by doctor. Did not have running nose but after taking it my nose dripped....

I have a cold and my nose is running like a tap. The new formula doesn’t dry up my nose

published

The new formula didn’t dry up my nose or relieve my symptoms in any way. I don’t think I’d bother buying that’s again. My nose is still running like a tap.

No good!!!

published

I've still got a box of this with codeine (new formula) & each time I tried for my colds or stuffy nose & headaces, it's made me feel worse. I was going to throw out when I first bought but ended up keeping it because of the ban of codeine & I like the codeine when I've needed it. I believe the other new ingredient in the codural is making my stomach react, I took last night & earlier today & I feel like throwing up! I've only got 4 tabs left & once finished, never buying again, especially with all the bad feedbacks of the newer codural doing absolutely nothing! Bring back the older days when codural actually worked!!!

What a joke

published

I tried the new codral without codeine. Why bother? Don’t bother. It does nothing but gives one a dry mouth. What a joke. I will not be recommending this to anyone!

New Formula doesn’t work

published

Don’t bother. New formula doesn’t have codeine (due to laws from Feb 1st), and it doesn’t have pseudoephedrine (which has been replaced with the poor substitute phenylephrine). So basically these are useless for treating nasal congestion and the aches associated with the flu. Probably better off sucking strong lozenges and using ibuprofen. You really used to be able to ‘Soldier On with Codral’, but not any more.

Waste of money

published

I was prescribed this from the doctor after having a cold. After 3 days straight I noticed no change and decided to check the ingredients. There's no codeine yet I have to get a script for if and it still cost the same. Obviously codeine is the magic ingredient and and pointless without it.

Why change formula from original that was working

published

I have always bought codral cold and flu tablets bought the new formula (relieves 6 signs of flu) did absolutely nothing, They have taken out the codeine but not replaced it with anything but still charging the same amount I won't be recommending codral brand to anyone at all. Disappointed with new formula does not relieve flu symptoms at all.

Hi, no it does not keep u awake but when i took it it made me feel worse and i had a major headache for 1 week straight and made me feel lightheaded and sick so it was absolute waste of time for me cos it did not work at all but everyone has different reactions to things so can try if u like cos it may work differently for you but me personally will never take it again, panadol worked way better. So if you try it, Goodluck :)

Hi, I think this would be fine to take. To be honest when I took it, it had absolutely no effect on me. I thought I must have had the worst cold ever, until I realised it was the "new and improved" formula. I would never ever take this one again.

Michelle G
Michelle G

No, it won't keep you awake, they do not have night time tablets in this pack. As for the comment about Panadol working better... These contain 500mg of Panadol... that's the same as regular Panadol...lol
