TOTAL WASTE OF TIME....APPLICATION CANCELED
One star is WAY too many for this review.
What a bunch or morons these guys are. Applied for a Coles MC, submitted every bit of paperwork requested, they called up a few days later and asked for another pay slip after supplying 2, said that was all they needed, then rang again after 2 days to ask for the previous years tax return after supplying them this years one.
I just got sick of the red tape, and told them the shove their card into their cavity and cancelled the application.
Seems like like that even if you earn double of what the...Read more
y require, its still not enough to get it over the line. I also think that if you're in the top 1% of FlyBuyers in your state, they will do anything to keep you from getting a Cole MC as they fear that you will earn too many points and cost them too much money. I was only asking for a $2K card too, just to buy groceries with, but no, it was too much for them.

Fraud Transaction on Cancelled and Blocked Card
So have been a fan of the coles master rewards card up until a week ago. So what happened was I disputed an unauthorised transaction a month ago which resulted in the card being blocked; cancelled and reissued. That was fine, got a credit against that fraudulant transaction. Last week, i discovered to my horror that another unauthorised transaction was made against that same "blocked" and "cancelled" card. When i called to ask how that is possible, i was told because the highest block hadnt been applied. Anyway, so I lodged a dispute and 6 days...Read more
later, received a call from a staff from coles with a rude tone interrogating me as if I was the one committing the fraud! That aside, how someone can still commit fraud against a blocked and cancelled card does not give much assurance as a consumer. Do not trust these idiots with your money!Similar opinion? I wish there was MINUS 5 stars for this one - a gem of bad - pretty much - everything
Coles Mastercard (now with Citi) - folks with >>primary<< and >>additional<< cards to one account should check their accounts online. In my case it can show 'balance available' over $5000 different for both cards (on one account). I've lodged a complaint with the ombudsman, Citi called - said that's how it is, and quotations:
--- "Ombudsman cannot tell them how to display available balance"
--- "It is their accounting and it will stay that way" as "online account login is only supplementary information to monthly statements"
--- "If I wanna ...Read more

Gone downhill
I've been a Coles credit cardholder for many years but I was recently told that my wife's card would be disabled soon unless they could get all her ID details again. These were all previously supplied but I guess they've lost them in the move to Citibank. I asked whether I could provide them over the phone and they said that she would have to create an online login and fill in the details there or call back herself. I'd had enough. We moved all our transactions to another card. Interestingly my wife accidentally used the card a couple of days...Read more
ago and the transaction still went through. I guess they don't know how their own product works. This card has gone from being our family main credit card averaging $2K a month to just being used as a flybuys barcode. Also, the call centre is terrible, they pause and um and ahhh, they don't seem to know anything about the customers specific accounts or the product in general. I had very little trust in what I was told. Who-pay-who in this corporate arrangement, does Coles pay Citibank or does Citibank pay Coles? Puts me off other Citibank products.Similar opinion? Coles sold out to CitiGroup
I have had Coles Mastercard for some time, and in this time, they have sold the card out to three different companies. Now trying to deal with CitiGroup with a terrible experience, to outsourcing to the cheapest international call centre possible. Communication is extremely difficult, as they are unable to understand very clear instructions.
Because I didn't activate my new card prior to being sold off to Citibank, i was unable to active the online service to check account balances, and because i called to complain they advised me that i am...Read more
now barred from having an active card?? Even though the account was in order. I just gave up trying to deal with them. Twice i called trying to change my address (unable to do online), and i just terminated my call twice, firstly after 35 minutes waiting on hold, and secondly, because the operator couldn't understand why i was asking. Luckily i'm paying out the account and closing, thats one less drama. Oh if you would like to waste 30 minutes of your life, try and find on the Coles Mastercard website how to close the account or cancel the card. It doesn't exist!! There are better rewards cards out there.. All Coles have done is shift clients around to the highest bidder!!!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

What the?
I can't understand their processes for applications. I have an excellent credit rating, no other debts and earn 6 figures yet they declined me? I wish I didn't waste my time having a decline on my credit report now. Since the time that I got declined, I've gotten a Commbank Platinum MasterCard without any issues. Coles (Citibank) I don't understand how you came to your conclusion about me but you've lost a good customer.
My advice would be to look elsewhere. Don't get a blemish on your credit rating just because Citibank have likely reached their signup quota for the month.

Citibank have ruined a good credit card
I have had a Coles MasterCard (Platinum) for many years. When I first got the card it had great reviews and was by far the best card on the market. Unfortunately since Citibank took over I have had a number of issues. The transfer to Citibank and the re-registration for their website was badly organised and the website didn't function as intended. Often I can't get a statement (says there isn't one) and when I have contacted their helpline I get a condescending email back with instructions on how to download the statement. They didn't rea...Read more
d what I said - your website doesn't work!! To make matters worse, on a few occasions I couldn't confirm what the final balance for the month was (I pay off completely every month). I worked out what I had already paid but it ended up being less than the whole amount and I got charged interest. This is because the payment date moves every month, instead of how it used to be (set date). I hate everything about this card and will be changing.Similar opinion? Application declined because I wasn’t transferring a balance and I apparently earn too much!
I applied for a Coles Rewards Card simply to bump up my Flybuys points. Financial history A+, income very generous (6+ figures), no dependents, no other current credit and only wanted a $2,000 limit to cover groceries and fuel. Card was always going to have money available on it (I didn’t put this in my application, it’s not asked or their business). I just wanted to get double flybuys points when I shopped at Coles. Been regularly shopping with the Coles Group for 30+ years. Magnificent purchasing history. However, Citibank mustn’t have seen m...Read more
e as profitable enough, or there is a major glitch in their system. Either way, I was STUNNED to have it declined and now have a blemish on what was a PERFECT credit rating. Do not bother! With my experience and reading the majority of feedback here, I think I may have dodged a bullet. Don’t do it. And, COLES - you might like to reconsider your finance partner. They seem to be making mistakes all over the place. I’d choose a better financier if I was Coles. WOW.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

As a LONG time customer with one of these cards, I've noticed dramatic changes since Citibank joined. For those who have switched to another credit card company...any good recommendations? I liked this one for the Flybuys.

If you are as crazy as I am gathering Flyby points, then I would stick to the Coles card 100% and reap as many points as possible. If you want to swap, I just became a Bank Australia customer and opened a number of accounts after closing all my CBA ones. They have a very good VISA card with no annual fee and only 12.39% and the same on cash advances. Check them out. We’re really happy with them.
@ Dave, thanks.... from all the reviews I've read, even closing your Coles Mastercard account is difficult! I might stick with them a bit longer and hope they pick up their game!! In the meantime, I'll check out Bank Australia.
