I'm very upset, worried, as I'm loosing weight due to not eating, because with no taste just a metallic taste it makes me nauseous. I'm so worried,it's upsetting..I'm praying my taste returns. Is it ok to use Savacol every second day for a continued length of time? Unfortunately I suffer from halitosis and have tried everything mouthwash in the world to control this affliction which seems to be unimportant to the medical profession. Savacol is the only product with which I have success. I only need to rinse once every two days to have a neutral effect on the bacteria causing my problem.

I have recently been told by my dentist I have bad gum disease. My gums are receding at a rapid rate and I definitely am experiencing bone loss The dentist did a scale and clean but did not recommend any type of mouth wash. He just said I have to get a clean & scale every 3 months. I came across Savacol. Is it okay to use if not recommended by dentist and will it help my receding gums?
2 answers
Well its still working for me, I use it once a day at night, my gums are no longer getting inflamed and have stopped receding...the damage done however does not seem to recover, but having my gums not get any worse, or my teeth get loose and fall out, is worth it for me..dentists are pretty unhelpful, they just say you have periodontal disease and once there are lots of gaps aound the teeth it is even harder to stop infections starting, but the savacol kepps it a bay..good luck
I have the same - gum disease with bone loss. I had a scale n clean and will donut again in 3 months and then 6 monthly. My dentist said to use the Savacol x2daikt for one month and then just use it for one week of each month. The gum disease makes your mouth produce too much nasty bacteria and that makes your gum disease continue. I have just finished my 1st month of using Savacol and the difference is really noticeable. When u start using it you will notice a disgusting taste but it improves after a few days as the bacteria reduces. Good luck with it

My tongue is currently swollen, would savacol mouth & throat rinse help?
2 answers
Hey Koda, As I'm not a medical expert nor a qualified health professional, I STRONGLY recommend you see your medical practitioner ASAP. Swollen tongue = oh-oh gotta go to doctor. Savacol, in my opinion is FANTASTIC for killing 99.9% of germs in your mouth and not as a preventative for other issues. So, once tongue issue is sorted simply Savacol after each brush (note: DO NOT exceed more than 60 seconds rinsing in mouth, for some reason I always get a yucky feeling on tongue and it's a bit of an overkill in my opinion). Good Luck!
Colgate-PalmoliveColgate
Hi Koda, thanks for reaching out with your question. Savacol is an antiseptic mouth & throat rinse and has been specially formulated to be used on advice of a dental health professional for the treatment of specific oral conditions. Hi my question is - How long for should I use this product ? I am now on my second bottle is it safe to carry on using it ? it was recommended by my Dentist cause I have/had gum infection gingivitis.
3 answers
I would see your Dentist if there is no improvement after your second bottle, just to rule out any other possible causes. Kind regards
I believe that you should not use this product if you are a coffee or Coke drinker because that's where the damage is done.
Having left over coffee in your mouth either before or after rinsing it's most likely to cause staining.
Colgate-PalmoliveColgate

Hi I have a gum infection and my gums have swollen around some of my teeth so I'm trying savacol to reduce the inflammation. My gums don't usually bleed but they have bled around two of the teeth that have swollen gums after rinsing with 15ml undiluted for one minute as directed. Is it OK to continue using savacol? I'm quite impressed as the swelling has already been reduced after only two days of using it.

I have now used this twice. I found it great for bleeding gums. It should settle down after a few days. What my dentist told me is don't use more than 10 days straight and honestly I didn't need to as gums were fully healed by then.
Colgate-PalmoliveColgate

what can be done to get rid of the burning on the tongue and gums due to using savacol ?
1 answer
I can't answer this question, as I didn't have a problem with burning of the tongue. My problem was, on a dentists recommedation to use this product. Subsequently, my teeth stained quite badly, however, after seeing a dentist, and having a good clean, the staining has disappeared, and has not returned! However, I will not use this product again, as it seems a minority of people do have this outcome with this product.
KMJasked
Have experienced severe staining of my teeth after using this product. Is this permanent? As brushing does not take away the stains!

I remember reading another article on this product that talked about the same thing you're going through. It said it does get better. I hope so for your sake. :( What a nightmare this stuff is for us.
Yeah it did stain mine too which is probably why they dont recommend it for long term use? You could maybe trying brushing your teeth with the baking soda tooth paste to help remove the staining?but best to check with a dentist to be on the safe side.
Colgate-PalmoliveColgate
Hi KMJ, we’re sorry to learn this product didn't meet your expectations, but thank you for your feedback. I was told to use this for a week as I have a sever case of gingivitus. Ive noticed that my teeth are pretty sensitive now. Is that normal?
3 answers
I'm not an expert. I would expect that it would be your gums that would be sensitive, and as I suggested I would recommend diluting the Savacol for this. If it is your teeth then I think you need to see a dentist, perhaps a specialist - it seems to imply that the base of the teeth are exposed. Ask around your friends - dentists, like doctors, can be variable in their commitment or expertise. If you think it is temporary or can see any improvement (or perhaps not) then I suggest using it (diluted) more times per day (this might be the opposite of good advise) - but I'm speaking out of ignorance - you need to consult somebody trained and competent.

I used it for the first time because of a small ulcer on the inside of my lip. I gargled 15 ml for 1 minute as directed. For the following 12 hours and counting, I feel like my tongue has been burned. I can hardly taste anything other than a bitter metallic taste all over my mouth. My lip ulcer is fine and doesn't hurt. Is this a normal reaction?
1 answer
Colgate-PalmoliveColgate
Hi M Damon, we’re sorry to learn about your experience but we’re happy to help. Our aim is to produce completely safe, non-toxic, non-irritant products. In some isolated cases, however, people may experience sensitivity to an ingredient, such as a fragrance, colour or a flavour. In these instances we recommend you discontinue use of the product causing irritation, which should then resolve any symptoms being experienced.

The direction to use Savacol said "Rinse ~ after meals". Why after meals? And does it mean after or before brushing teeth? If after brushing teeth, I usally do it just befre going to bed about 3 hours after meal. Is it ok to rinse mouth with Savacol a couple of hours after 2 or 3 hours after meals?
1 answer
You should not use immediately after brushing your teeth as it is not good to mix toothpaste and Savacol together as it can sometimes make the product not work correctly. If you wish to use it after brushing, make sure you have done plenty of rinsing prior to using Savacol. And I have been told it is fine to rinse after meals with Savacol. Hope this helps :)
