Just a question my 17.5 yr old staffie dog contacted fleas via rolling on the moist warm.mulchy grass 4 sure we used 1 st treatment of comfortis forte plus 2 day and fleas on this back of tail and left ear are dropping off how long till they completely disappear with this treatments? does it matter that he keeps rolling on the grass ?

Comfort is is suppose to protect him for a month until the next dose is required and will capture the flea cycle so wait each month. I poisoned my cat accidentally by giving the next dose too soon. This stuff is pretty toxic.

Some of the packaging for the orange boxes do not have a picture of a cat on it. Is it still okay to give the orange box to my cat still?

I really don't know. You will have to ask somebody with cats. Lee
I would give a reduced dose. Cut the table in half to be sure the dose isn't too high. It will still work.
Comfortis (spinosad) is interchangeable. Read the box fine print under the sizing guide. It will say 'for dogs too' (or cats). It's also tolerated much better by cats. IE. A cat is prescribed roughly twice the dose of an equivalent size dog. And finally, Comfortis Orange is for medium animals. Cats 2.8-5.4kg/Dogs 4.6-9kg. Having said this, please do your own research before using what is an extremely dangerous drug if dosed incorrectly.

Can I bathe my dog after giving comfortis or will the effect wear off because of the bath?

My dog had terrible flea infestation after rolling on the grass at the local park. I bought a flea collar and thought maybe I would need something for the whole body. I have used comfortis before with excellent results. I want to know what allergy symptoms I should possibly look out for and what are the best methods to controlling fleas? I had to wash him 5 times over the weekend. exelpet shampoo killed the fleas but did not reflect new ones. Please help.

Hi Matt!
I have a cat, so I am not sure if you are going to experience the same problem as me. But here's what we experienced with our cat:
1) after about an hour of giving her the tablet, she became lethargic and withdrawn
2) about 90 minutes later she had a huge vomit, not the small hairball variety, and then she started to pick up. Same as we do, when we have eaten something that does not agree with us, or is just plain food poisoning.
3) I then went online and researched this product and found an alarming number of reports about damage to kidneys, liver and even death.
4) I contacted the company and they adamantly refused to accept any responsibility and would not agree to refund the product. PetBarn, however, did and we have gone back to Revolution.
Hope my reply helps.
Kind regards, ejr1959

I used comfortis last year on my cat with good results. This year this is the second month of using it and still she scratches, is there a problem with this years comfortis tablets? It's getting to the point of changing brands
1 answer
The scratching may be due to skin issues. However, I did see live fleas on my dog before using Comfortis, and have seen NO dead ones after using. I have gotten no results from Comfortis. My dog did have dry skin issues though, so that was most of his scratching. I supplement fish oul into his diet, a month later he is happy as can be.. Hope I helped.

I thought I ordered enough for my dogs and cat, but I got it today and there's none for the cat. Do you think it would be ok to give my cat one of the small dogs pills? (Orange comfortis)

I've the Comfortis Orange Packet..270 mg.....its for dogs weighing 4.6 - 9 kg and suitable for cats weighing 2.8 - 5.4 kg you may just have old packaging...just double check with a vet before giving it to ur cat
Check with your cats vet as comfortis pink is the recommended tablet for cats and seems to be the only one that nobody has complaints about in relation to their cats!
