With so many deaths reported, why is this product still marketed and available? I bought a pack and now i am going to take it back. Can people sue this company, or pet lives are that cheap?
Testing methods . For example, say they may have a group of 1000 dogs and maybe 100 got sick or died. I guess that is acceptable side effect i know it is supposed to be a within a range that is with...
Read morein the parameter of safety. Or they purposely us the test method is not the right one, which is done to skew the numbers the CDC did it watch " Vaxxed" not kidding here. For me one dead pet is one to many. I know for big pharma Bill Clinton signed a bill that no can sue them, no liability at all. A legal expert is needed. I gave my cat a 1/2 pill it has been 24 hours then I read the reviews we went into total shock mode. after reading reviews of all the pet owners that lost their beloved pet. We gave our cat activated charcoal in tuna which is what people are given in the Emergency Dept for poisoning, it absorbs the poison. We hope the cat survives this ... never ever again. How soon can I cuddle my cat after she has taken Comfortis? I gave it to her successfully in her food yesterday afternoon?
You can cuddle your pets immediately tdog!!
That's so good to know! Forgot to ask the vet yesterday and couldn't ask till 9am today .
Very happy cat and owner now
I cuddled mine immediately. Nothing told me I could get sick from it.
I gave my dog comfortis with his food. He was fine. But 24 hours later he threw up. it looked like it was an acid type of substance from the medicine. Did the comfortis go into his system? or could he throw it up 24 hours later?
Well the timeframe until fully digested would vary in different dogs and conditions. I would think 24hrs would be pretty safe to say the product would not be getting thrown back up... I think it mentions this in more detail on their website.
If your cat is 22 should you give it comforts pill for fleas

My Maine Coon X male cat who turns sixteen this coming Monday has been on Comfortis for the past six months with no ill effects till today. He didn't vomit but has been extremely lethargic and is absolutely not interested in food. Yesterday he was eating like his usual self, very well. I don't think that I should buy this product again. What do others think?
Hi Marg, I have a Birman who will be 17 later this month, but I have never given her Comfortis, and I don't want to because of her age, and I am worried that because it is taken orally that she will h...
Read moreave a bad reaction due to her age. Instead, I gave her Frontline a few days ago, without any problem, and it has no smell, but in the past I have given her Advantage (which does smell) and she became lethargic and hid in the wardrobe, distressed, trying to lick it off, twitching her skin, and not happy. So for two years I didn't give her anything. She is mostly indoors anyway, but I have two dogs, one who can tolerate Comfortis and it works so well. The spot treatment didn't work for her and she suffered from flea allergy, but the Comfortis has been great for her. She has been on it for two years but I don't give her a full tablet, only 3/4s. The other dog, a 13 yo poodle had seizures 24 hours after giving him Comfortis, even though he also has been on it for a couple of years. The only thing I did differently was that I gave him the full tablet instead of 3/4s. That was last month. This month I tried him again on Comfortis but on a half dosage and he didn't suffer any ill effects. i hope your cat will be okay. It may be that he will be better off with a lower dosage due to his age and health.Thankyou very much Corinee. I hadn't thought of a reduced dose and after the reaction to my boys last pill he definitely won't be having any more. I don't care what the vet thinks.....Charlie Brown ha...
Read mores always been a 24/7 inside cat and hadn't had fleas before. The only reason he had fleas was my son visited with his dog and even though it wasn't evident that she had fleas she must have. He's since admitted that she does. I will buy some Frontline to keep on hand. I have extreme chemical sensitivities and the smell of the Comfortis made me want to puke. Thankyou again MargSome of the packaging for the orange boxes do not have a picture of a cat on it. Is it still okay to give the orange box to my cat still?
I really don't know. You will have to ask somebody with cats. Lee
I would give a reduced dose. Cut the table in half to be sure the dose isn't too high. It will still work.
Comfortis (spinosad) is interchangeable. Read the box fine print under the sizing guide. It will say 'for dogs too' (or cats). It's also tolerated much better by cats. IE. A cat is prescribed rough...
Read morely twice the dose of an equivalent size dog. And finally, Comfortis Orange is for medium animals. Cats 2.8-5.4kg/Dogs 4.6-9kg. Having said this, please do your own research before using what is an extremely dangerous drug if dosed incorrectly. My cat has been using Comfortis for about 6 months with no bad effects. Just this week she has started having seizures. Vet check showed no obvious causes and I have seen several posts about seizures and comfortis. Seeking some non biased feedback on any link between comfortis and seizures.

My vet gave me comfortis spinosad for a 60 lbs. 810 mg. Dog and told me to split into 4 pieces for my 12 lb Shih-Tzu. A week later she's dying. Any advise?
Did your dog survive? I am so sorry for your problems. Obviously, the vet advised you to give your tiny dog too much.
can i use a single dose of comfortis for large dogs to treat my two small dogs? if not, why?
Well I'm not sure what you mean if you mean can you give your small dog a big dogs tablet
No you can't it all comes down to their weight if you give a dog say 3kg a tablet that is made for a 10kg do...
Can fleas become immune to the poison in comfortis? I've noticed after using this product for an extended period of time that it no longer has the same effect.
I can't say they will or will not I have heard that things like fleas head lice etc can build an immunity to the poisons used in products
But I'd check with a vet first if your that worried personal...
My dog weights 58 pounds, and the comfortis pill says 60 to 100 pounds, I just wondered ...is that too strong for her? I crush it and don't give it all, seems like if it's for up to 100 pounds that's too much.?????
Personally (i am not a vet) i gave my dog a full dose and the after effects were horrid. Since i was in a very heavy flea infested area and frontline plus was not working the next month i gave my dog ...
Read morea half dose and it was tolerated very well with an excellent flea kill rate. At this time i continue to only give him a 1/2 dose. You can google exactly how many milligrams per pound your dog should have . I still use a 1/2 per pound for my dog because the full dose was intolerable (shaking head, leg paralysis,, etc). I have been reading up on comfortis and the kill rate for fleas does lessen after 16 days to 58%. Odd how they say it lasts 30 days. It does but at day 29 it is only 2%. Google your dogs weight and give him half that dose. Works for me.Thank you for your answer. I will google exactly how much to give her.
Can I bathe my dog after giving comfortis or will the effect wear off because of the bath?
My dog had terrible flea infestation after rolling on the grass at the local park. I bought a flea collar and thought maybe I would need something for the whole body. I have used comfortis before with excellent results. I want to know what allergy symptoms I should possibly look out for and what are the best methods to controlling fleas? I had to wash him 5 times over the weekend. exelpet shampoo killed the fleas but did not reflect new ones. Please help.
Hi Matt!
I have a cat, so I am not sure if you are going to experience the same problem as me. But here's what we experienced with our cat:
1) after about an hour of giving her the tablet, she became lethargic and withdrawn

Can you split comforts tablet in half?
I don't know sorry - you should ask your vet, or the supplier you're buying from. Best to be sure to buy the right size for your animal.
This is the only way my dog can tolerate it. And i do NOT give the other half later. I have to given my dog 1/2 the recommended dose per pound. I googled exactly how many milligrams per pound for my ...
