Have used this product for over a year and my dog is still affected by fleas. Have taken him to the vet and they also recommended this brand but it doesn't seem to be working.

Caused loss of muscle control in cat
My cat was given this at the vet after Frontline had become ineffective. Later that evening she was unable to walk or stand, falling over on one side, with tremors of her whole body. After taking her to an emergency vet and returning home, she was not able to walk or stand without falling over until the following day, and slept for the entire next day. It took her a few days to recover. One of the vets had seen a similar reaction before. I would not recommend this product - a chemical that can produce these sort of neurological side effects is dangerous.

Killed My Sweet Cat
As today marks a year since my cat passed away from this drug, I reccomend NOT ever using this. This drug caused my cat to become lethargic for days, then he began to lose movement. It caused permanent nerve damage, eventually resulting in paralysis and death. This was after the 3rd use. He bounced back the first two times. Read reviews and do not use this medication!!!

Freaked out
I gave my ragdoll one tablet for the 1st time ever last night after dinner as directed, ( as he has sensitive skin and cannot use spot on treatments or flea collar ) he was fine at 1st, hour later he stated acting crazy, shaking his head, scratching and grooming himself like mad, going in and out of the litter box, then sat in litter box scratching, head shaking for the next few hours ..By this time i come and read the reviews and thought oh hell this is not good. I asked advice on a special cat n kitten foster carer page and was told ju...Read more
st to keep watching him as it was perfectly normal behaviour as the fleas die they bite really hard and if any changes like vomiting etc go to a vet . Woke up this morning to my cat jumping on the bed wanting his breakfast. Apart from vomiting up a hairball sometime last night ( i would expect that as being a ragdoll he groomed himself non stop for around 3-4hrs) he is back to his normal self. The product itself works great not a flea in sight, but i guess its like all medicines, some pets can tolerate it others sadly didnt .Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I gave my Lhasa poodle mix one tab in June. It’s now November and I haven’t seen any fleas! I read an article about waiting to see if fleas appear then to give another tab. Needless to say one dose lasted 5 months.
My dog is always chasing squirrels and jumping in the open waters. She Was completely infested until I gave her this magic dose of amazingness.
I was scared at first after reading reviews and kept one eye open all night to watch her reaction to it. I’m pleased with this

Healthy 16 month old cat died after giving comfortis
I have used comfortis for about 3 years now on my GSD and 3 cats. After giving them a dose the usual vomiting would occur but they were always fine.
2 nights ago I gave all the animals a comfortis, I always follow directions and am super careful!! They had the comfortis at 7:30pm and in the army hours of the following morning my healthy, strong fit as a fiddle 18 month old cat was dead. He looked as though he had curled up and gone to sleep but he didn't wake up. This product is so dangerous and NOT worth the risk. Please be cautious and think twice about using this product.

Great product
After reading so many scary negatives on this product I was very skeptical, If I was'nt clutching at straws I probably would'nt have even tried this product in fear of the worst.
But, after trying several spot on treatments and outdoor sprays to control the environmental infestations I had no other options.
I used diomataceous Earth outside, revolution spot on, frontline spot on and sprays in excess of $10/ltr and bathed our 6 month old ragdoll at least once a week (easier to manually pull fleas off a long haired cat). Nothing was working unt...Read more

Made one cat very ill, had to take to vet.
Dont use it unless you have pet insurance, spare money and dont value your animal...
Within about 5 to 10 minutes after feeding my male cat a tablet he couldnt stop vomiting, sneezing, shaking his head, eyes watering hiding, tounge hanging out and rowing in pain. It really made us feel awful and now my cat who used to follow me every where and love me soo much, avoids me. Im heartbroken and Disgusted with this terrible product! ne. I bought this mainly due to the stupid idiots advice at petbarn, as revolution was too expensive for me at the time. ( now realise i can buy it online cheaper) $1400 vet bill LATER... and The vet actually gave me a single shot of revolution and it worked almost instantly again with no Horrible side effects. I will admit. one girl cat i have did eat it straight up and didnt seen to have a problem... (shes street tough and doesnt seem to ever vomit) but she did go very quiet after feeding her the tablet. But this is a HORRIBLE product! the information leaflet even says that if they vomit up the tablet just re dose them again. DO NOT DO THIS to CATS you can easily posion cats and damage their kidneys/liver. my vet was disgusted at the information leaflet and the terrible advice by petbarn. I wish i had read the reviews on here first :(Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Made both our cats very sick
Administered to our two cats, both young and healthy. Both began vomiting a few hours later, which continued intermittently for the next 24 hours. One was lethargic, sick, and refused to eat for over a week afterwards. Would not use again.

Cat had a Very adverse reaction
1-2 hours after giving the tablet my 13 year old female Tonkinese cat became restless, seeking access to outside. Then overthe next hour she lay prone on the tiled floor, then withdrew to a corner then became more restless and seemingly grooming a dozen places at once, her paws, her belly, her tail. Her belly was heaving with rapid breathing and her ears were red suggesting high stress. Then an awful groan and she vomited up a belly full of food and assuming the tablet as well. She withdrew again and sought a quiet area away from me. Shortly af...Read more
ter that she toileted and whilst there were recognizable stools, it was quite liquid and especially foul smelling. Over the next hour she calmed down and sought to be snuggled against me. Her breathing settled to a more normal rate and dying fleas appeared on her fur surface. I rang 24 hour vet but they offered no knowledge of Comfortis reaction. A very worrying 4 hours. i had been with her the previous 24 hours and the only difference to her day was the Comfortis flea treatment tablet. WOULD NOT RECOMMENDSimilar opinion? Dont use it
Dosed two perfectly healthy 8 year old cats. One is dead, the other sick and vomiting for two days. Our cat died two days after the pill after being
off her food lethargic, then died. The other exactly the same symptoms but got better after 3 days.
I want to see this product withdrawn, or see the CEO eat the prescribed dose. I wish I had seen the terrible reviews before giving it to our pets. Now the kids pet is gone, and the product is still being sold.

My cat died 3 hours after taking this product.
I had used these tablets twice before. I have three rescue cats from the same litter and they are all girls. Eight months in age. They have never suffered viruses or had health issues and I have had them since 7 weeks of age. I gave all three of them the tablet three weeks ago at 5.30pm. At 8pm one of them seemed quiet (she is usually very active). I checked on her and was concerned as I felt something was up. After going to get them all a treat I heard her scream from the bedroom and the banging of the wardrobe door. The noise was horrible...Read more
and something I never want to hear again. She was lying on her side. Vomit was in front of her and I picked her up quickly and as Iifted her she seemed to lose bowl control. Her eyes were huge and popping from her head and her pupils large. She was dead. I tried to resuscitate her but there was no point. I don't know what happened and my vet is stunned too. I couldn't afford $1500 for an autopsy. All I know is she was fit, healthy, perfect weight, shiny coat and the sweetest little thing I've ever known but I would NEVER give any of them this product again. I had done so to avoid them licking each other but now wish I hadn't and after seeing the reviews on here it seems I'm not the only one who has had something terrible happen.Similar opinion? HORRIBLE patient reimbursement when they're at fault! Only will reimburse diagnostic tests! Not trea
Comfortis was given to my 23 lb female beagle on 9/14/17 at 530am- they gave her the 20-40 lb pill rather than the 10-20lb pill which I think has a lot to do with the issues she's having.... a few hours later she had violent vomiting that lasted off and on for 24 hours/ coinciding with yellowish diarrhea. Next day the vomiting has stopped but her yellowish diarrhea has continued. She has been very lethargic and showing ataxia in her hind end. Today on 9/17 she wouldn't eat and continues to have diarrhea. Every hour throughout he last two ni...Read more

They'd also like to do X-rays and a whole bunch of other treatments like anti nausea meds/probiotics etc. the 24 hour emergency hotline was less than helpful and said they THINK I'll get reimbursed when I call tomorrownduring business hours. Even though the Saturday hotline person said I would get reimbursed... Sunday's lady had a differing answer. .. I'm praying this is so because it is 100% attributed to the comfortis. I'm upset with the lack ofn knowledge on the issues and the commitment to reimburse the charges. Never use this product causes paralysis and many other serious side effects
My healthy 8 year old cat had a severe reaction to this drug which caused massive vomiting and paralysis for 3 days. We had to seek emergency veterinary attention as we thought our beloved pet was going to die. I am going to take this further and after liasing with other work colleagues who are in the medical profession they had similar stories after administration of this medication to their cats and dogs. A terrible ordeal for myself and other family members to encounter.

Made my dachshunds ill
We gave this to our 11 and 12 year old dachshunds a couple of months ago. One of them basically vomited off and on for about two months. The other dog and our beagle did not seem to have any problems with it. We decided not to give to the female who had gotten sick. The fleas and ticks were definitely gone and it lasted longer than we expected. So, we dosed the male and the beagle again two days ago. Last night, my male dachshund, otherwise healthy and proper weight, began vomiting profusely everything he had eaten. It looked like a week's wort...Read more
h of food. I went online to look for answers and settled on giving him some of his canned food with 16 charcoal capsules opened up into the food and stirred in. As far as I can tell this morning, his vomiting has slowed, maybe stopped, but we'll see since the female vomited for weeks after her only dose. Unfortunate as the flea and tick control was good, but not worth losing a dog.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Veterinarians have to be accountable
It is not possible that veterinarians are not telling us the side effects of these drugs and they are getting away with murder. Report them to the board of veterinarians. Also, beware of Apoquel.Stay away from Apoquel Oclacitinib, it is a drug given to dogs for allergies on their paws, skin. It is poisonous drug, if you look it up on drugs.com it will give you thorough information about it. My doggie was assassinated by an unethical veterinarian that did not bother to tell me the lethal side effects, did not give me a print out of it. My dog d...Read more

Use natural remedies, try homeopathic doctors with caution as always, as even medicinal plants have side effects. Please, do not put your doggies on drugs, steroids like prednisone cause cancer. Cadi injections from Zoetis also are just fraud, only a conditional license, they are experimenting on doggies. I can't stop crying.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Our 9lb cat given 1/2 tablet of Comfortis
Our eleven year indoor 9lb cat yogi, she was itching like crazy. We closely examined the cat's fur with magnifying glass saw nothing took her to the Vet he used a nit comb and found fleas. Vet gave us Comfortis. Since my husband is knowledgeable in chemicals he did not want to give her anything, but a flea bath . Finally decided to cut the pill in half so she took half of the pill. We began seeing few dead fleas within hours. In a few hours I noticed a really strong odor, she smelled like the Comfortis and fishy the smell was so stro...Read more
ng that when she was in the other room I could smell it when we petted her that smell came off into our hands, and her blanket smelled of it . We became very alarmed which led me here, and when I read the reviews I felt like i was going to pass out from sheer fear and shock. that sadly, so many peoples beloved pets died from this stuff. We gave her what they give in the emergency department for poisoning activated charcoal to absorb the poison/toxins. We decided to give her a warm sea salt bath and she soaked in the sink for 20 minutes The sea salt pulls out toxins. We repeatedly poured the warm sea salt water over her, she sat very calmly, then a rinse and dry. The smell had faded. Our Yogi survived . Never, ever again will I just trust someone's opinion without researching the side effects. I also read that this anti fleas pills cut the life expectancy of the pet by a lot, very scary stuffSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I gave my chihuahua comfortis but There are cats around my house and they have fleas, then when she goes around the cats she gets fleas again. Will the comfortis continue to kill these fleas?
1 answer
My advice is to use Wondercide flea spray. It is natural and it works. To stop the root of the reproduction of fleas use a non-toxic powder that dehydrates the fleas, treat the area front and backyard, inside of the house, if you live in the U.S. Flea busters sprays for you and guarantee it for one year.

My Maine Coon X male cat who turns sixteen this coming Monday has been on Comfortis for the past six months with no ill effects till today. He didn't vomit but has been extremely lethargic and is absolutely not interested in food. Yesterday he was eating like his usual self, very well. I don't think that I should buy this product again. What do others think?

Hi Marg, I have a Birman who will be 17 later this month, but I have never given her Comfortis, and I don't want to because of her age, and I am worried that because it is taken orally that she will have a bad reaction due to her age. Instead, I gave her Frontline a few days ago, without any problem, and it has no smell, but in the past I have given her Advantage (which does smell) and she became lethargic and hid in the wardrobe, distressed, trying to lick it off, twitching her skin, and not happy. So for two years I didn't give her anything. She is mostly indoors anyway, but I have two dogs, one who can tolerate Comfortis and it works so well. The spot treatment didn't work for her and she suffered from flea allergy, but the Comfortis has been great for her. She has been on it for two years but I don't give her a full tablet, only 3/4s. The other dog, a 13 yo poodle had seizures 24 hours after giving him Comfortis, even though he also has been on it for a couple of years. The only thing I did differently was that I gave him the full tablet instead of 3/4s. That was last month. This month I tried him again on Comfortis but on a half dosage and he didn't suffer any ill effects. i hope your cat will be okay. It may be that he will be better off with a lower dosage due to his age and health.
Thankyou very much Corinee. I hadn't thought of a reduced dose and after the reaction to my boys last pill he definitely won't be having any more. I don't care what the vet thinks.....Charlie Brown has always been a 24/7 inside cat and hadn't had fleas before. The only reason he had fleas was my son visited with his dog and even though it wasn't evident that she had fleas she must have. He's since admitted that she does. I will buy some Frontline to keep on hand. I have extreme chemical sensitivities and the smell of the Comfortis made me want to puke.
Thankyou again
Marg

I think my cat may have a bad reaction to comfortis. It seems to give her this horrible cough and makes her lose her appetite. Has anyone seen this reaction before? She has lost a lot of weight.

Nope never and I've used it for while
But my advice is to cease using it
Your cat could be allergic to one of its ingredients
Take him to a vet explain it to them
I doubt it's life threatening its most likely an allergic reaction
My two cat had the same ( one died two weeks ago) go to the doctor and test on pancreatitis!
