Great tyre
I have a set of ST maxx 245/75/16 on my 2011 3L T/D colorado ute, I have only done 25000km with them on varied terrain from rocky high country, to muddy holes and highway use. I have done more driving on the black top commuting to work approx 65% Tarmac to 35% off road and still have 80 - 85% tred.
The tires are pressure sensitive for the various types of terrain I run 38 psi cold pressure which will bring them up to 42 psi operating pressures for black top, I find this to be the best pressure although coopers told me I should run 36psi .

Update: first set of tires did 105000km and probably had another 10k in them but I replaced them with a new set of ST MAXX. Still loving this tyre...

Cooper STT Max
Tyre didn't last anywhere near 90000 km. noisy, causes bad vibrations after wear, even with scheduled rotations and wheel alignments. Had the St's, out lasted the STT's by about 30000. STT's did 45000 and need changed out. Compound seems too soft. Travel was on a lot of WA back roads around Kal and Southern Cross, going to and from work. A lot of open highway k's as well.
Sturdy and no punctures during life on vehicle.
Noisy, bad grip on black top in wet, vibrations, did not last projected kms.

Not one puncture. Absolute surprisingly little wear!,,,, what more can you ask of a tyre! 285/75/16's by the way
Great low pressure work, brilliant gravel braking

Find out how Cooper S/T MAXX compares to other 4WD Tyres
Know better, choose better.
Will never buy again
After having a set of STT's on our Cruiser that we could not fault, we replaced them with the S/T Maxx because the vast majority of our driving is on outback gravel roads, which according to reviews are exactly what this tyre is designed for.
After 10,000km of running, we found that the tyre tread started disintegrating on the 2 rear tyres. After 30,000 (and looking after them correctly) one tyre has had rubber fall out to the point where belts are showing through and the other has cracks and bulges in the sidewall around the bead.
As o...Read more
thers have found, Cooper are totally disinterested in our issue and they will only replace the tyres based on pro rata wear, despite the fact that the sidewall issue is not wear related. Our retailer also informed us that Cooper manufactured a faulty batch which we appear to have received the 2 tyres from which we still have to pay some money to replace! Will never touch Coopers again! Don't know who or what type of testing they did in the outback but they did a pretty poor job. Quiet, good grip Obviously poor construction, poor after sales service & attitude, tyre not fit for purpose.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Cooper ST/ Maxx
I have now driven 15,000 Kms on these tyres and before I continue, I am not a Coopers fan, but with these tyres I have complete confidence in them, they are a very good all round tyre if you are looking for a 50 / 50 on/off road tyre. They are a little noisy at 100Kms, but with an agressive tread you would expect that, but the road noise is not obtrusive and that is in a Land Rover Defender!
The tyres grip well off road, lose gravel roads at 80Kph they feel totally safe, clean themselves well in the mud, handle well the wet sticky clay and g...Read more

umen. Feel realy safe on dirt but have heard of some batches of tyres wearing off quicker than others.Try rotating at every oil change (I do mine every 5k). Or better yet a rotate and wheel alignment. Another thing people need to monitor is the pressure they run on different surfaces. These tyres, lik... Read more
e all others, perform and wear better when the tyre pressure is matched to surface conditions and not driven as a one pressure fits all/ fit and forget. What about the cracking in the sidewalls that have been reported?

Hey guys I have got the cooper st/maxx tyres put on my 2018 hilux, I seem to get a lot of vibration in the Ute, through the whole cab, seats and everything, when driving on rougher sealed roads, haven’t taken it off road or on gravel as yet but I’d imagine it would do much the same if not worse, I haven’t taken it back into the shop yet, just thought I’d ask your opinions first! any ideas? thanks in advance

I would be straight back to the shop, it sounds like a balance or alignment issue. Do a good visual check on all tyres to be sure they are identical specifications and there are no tread defects.
I'm assuming all the basics are checked or attended to by the tyre fitter/supplier
Ie Each wheel balanced and alignment all good at time of fitment - and that the vibration has occurred only after the Coopers went on?
Not too sure what your original tyres were but some of the newer HiLuxes we have seen have come standard with a road-bias tyre which run quietly and smoothly on bitumen. The ST Maxx is quite a blocky thing and will run noisy and a bit viby on bitumen, but not to the extent that it intrudes into the cab.
If you can't cover the noise by turning the radio up (hahaha) then it sounds like you have a greater problem than that
If you have access to an old set of tyres (still legal tread but on the way out) swap the Coopers out and see if the vibes stop
Unfortunately, if you do find that the Coopers are the source of the problem you then enter the world of despair that is the Coopers "Warranty Process"
Unless you have a really good supplier - or a lot of time and money to spend pursuing an American Company internationally - then you are pretty much doomed
If you can make it more expensive for Coopers to ignore you than it is to replace the tyres (or refund your money !!!) they may act in your favour
To this point I do not know anyone who has had successful Cooper-factory warranty replacement
The 'Warranty' replacement is usually provided by the local supplier (often at his own expense) so HE doesn't get a bad name for supplying tyres that have failed or have been faulty at time of supply
I do know suppliers who will no longer stock Coopers - in Brisbane,Townsville, Mackay, Rocky, Blackall, Longreach - citing that as one of the reasons
Coopers make more consistent quality TV ads than they do tyres
Good luck

Update: done 83000 km and still plenty of tread left. Done some hard work with these tyres too.
Won't even consider another tyre after having ST MAXX
