Fantastic company
I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews. The North Lakes staff are always polite, helpful and professional, and I have switched to many Kirkland products as the quality is superior to other brand names in supermarkets and somehow costs less! I recoup my membership cost for the year on buying one bag of the very high quality grain free dog food, with better ingredients and 4kg more product than the expensive premium brand we used to buy. I feel confident shopping there as you can return anything you are not 100% satisfied with. On the ...Read more
2 occasions I haven't been happy with something my money was refunded immediately under their satisfaction guarantee, they even saw on my membership I had another box of a product at home and offered to refund that too (I declined as we had used too much of it to return in my mind, but they offered!). You don't even need to keep receipts - all purchases are stored on your membership.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Watch out misleading price tag at NORTH LAKES!!!!
Recently purchased a product due to the displayed price being so competitive. Was charged another 30% due to the real price tag being behind the display tag!
On complaining to customer service staff was told to get back in line to the refund area and if not happy with price.
No apology offered and definitely no admission of fault.
Very very disappointed in customer service need some training! Basic courtesy and speedy conclusion/resolution not achieved!
Go to Coles and Woolies--- at least you get free product if they're at fault.

Amazed by the layout and range of products
We only joined a few weeks ago. But I found it an amazing experience. Sure, they don't have lots of different brands. But they make up for it by having a wide range of products. For example, we were surprised by the amount of organic products: coconut oil, chia seeds, quinoa, pasta, etc. e liked the wide aisles, easy to get around. The checkout line looked a little daunting. But with two people operating each booth it went very fast. I made it a point to talk with staff whenever I could -- they were all friendly and helpful. Judging from the reviews, obviously this was not the same with everyone. But I can only call it as I experienced it.

Love love love Costco
I had to be convinced to go look at Costco when they opened in North lakes and what a pleasant surprise!! Excellent customer service, they stock allot of Australian stuff as well as American among others. I feel the prices are competitive and good quality. Buying bulk on certain stuff just doesn't work with our small family but we still shop there twice a month and the petrol prices are definitely the cheapest we found around. Their cakes are out of this world and a good size for bday parties not too happy with the bagels change in size but can t have it all I guess.. Amazing happy and just need one to open in the south of Brisbane too now... PLEASE!!!!

Just canceled the membership
It was raining today when we went to Costco at North Lakes.
I dropped my wife of at the entrance and gave her my valet with the Costco membership card in it and went to find a parking.
When I went to the store they didn't let me in, because I didn't have my membership card with me.
I tried to explain them that my wife has it but they insisted that I need to go to open a temporary membership.
I insisted to go in but they called the store manager, I got seriously angry, I think about hundred people heard me. Store manager came trying to expla...Read more

Surprised!
Finally gave in and signed up today! North Lakes QLD After reading reviews here I was a little apprehensive but we decided to give it a go. We arrived Sunday lunch time, carpark pretty busy but didnt take long to find a park. Greeted at the door by a friendly member of staff who showed us the form we needed to fill out before going inside. Went to sign up desk, another helpful member of staff who explained everything including the 'condition' that we could bring a guest but only we are aloud to pay at the register. Fair enough. Went back out th...Read more
e front to go through the entrance and the initial member of staff who we saw went out of her way to show us the trolley bay and told us to 'enjoy yourselves' as she guessed it was our first time :-p We went in extremely critical, looking at everything and anything. Yes there may not be as many options of the same product as other stores but there is more variety of individual product.....I mean by this chocolates, clothing, books, ladders, bakery, fresh food etc. As it was our first time we did allow ourselves the purchase of several 'treats' that we otherwise wouldn't normally buy but hey that's half the fun and several items where brands/things I hadn't seen before and really wanted to try. We didn't buy any fresh fruit or Veg as I didn't really get a chance to look at it, every other section we checked out though. We moved through the register quickly, checkout operator was friendly and then a young guy came over and proceeded to pack all our stuff into another trolley at the other end. He was so sweet, friendly and my husband was shocked at just how gently and well he packed it all for us :) I am married to an accountant (and am even tighter than he is) so in true fashion we came home and went on Woolworths online to compare the items that we usually do buy. Obviously quantities where a lot bigger but we just worked it out on an individual unit basis then X by quantity.............main products included large box of individual smith chips, coffee beans, Patakas indian sauces, tomato sauce, wraps, dental dog chews, toilet paper, cruskits, beef jerky, ice magic and sanitary pads (I always resent buying these as they are an ESSENTIAL and always expensive).....so the bottom line if we bought this at woolworths we would of paid $100 more (yep I kid you not). Also I found two thermal long sleeved t-shirts for $19.00 (so $9.50 each) and a beautiful thick snuggly jacket for $39.00 which I needed to buy for our trip to England later in the year. I am not sure I would drive 35 minutes just to go but will certainly call in on when we drive past on our way to Brisbane! Oh and we did succumb to the cafe at the end.......hot dogs where YUCK! but the churros YUM!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

EXPENSIVE and selling meat past expiring date
I have a business membership which I have had for awhile now. I have watched the prices continue to rise higher and higher. It is more economical to buy at Coles or big W. There is a limited range and majority of the items I used to buy have disappeared from the shelves.
There was also meat which expired the day prior still sitting in the fridges for sale. Alongside was an entire fridge full of pork all which expires the next day. It was also noted that there was lamb cutlets at $34/kg expiring in a day, none of which was reduced in price. ...Read more
I have to say that I prefer fresh meat over something about to expire. To top it off I had issues using their eftpos machine During checkout. Refusing to accept any of my 3 cards I tried, my partner was with me, who lucky enough had cash on him. He gave me the cash to pay the $450 bill. I was informed that it was against the rules as he wasn't a member and I could not use his money to pay. I fail to understand why it matters who is paying. Or is it that they are so money hungry and want more membership. As I couldn't pay by card and they refused to Accept cash from my partner, I left the groceries and have walked out never to return. From now on Coles can get my $1000+ a month business shopping account plus my personal shopping as well. For future shoppers, save your money and go elsewhere!Similar opinion? FRUSTRATED MEMBER CAN'T PAY CASH ON THE GROCERY, ABSURD!
I brought my kids and guest with me. I as a member was paying CASH on counter, my guest is giving me Cash but when the Manager Leonie said I can't pay CASH and can't buy grocery there because i am getting money from my guest and that is the Costco rule and I should have read the T&C when I signed. I asked where is that T&C. She insisted we have to return the grocery. Well, it's not her business where I get any of my money, if I Loan from bank or my guest. I am a member & allowed to bring my family + 2 guest. I paid 60+ on my card & I am a member paying CASH for my $290+ grocery. I didn't violate any T&Cs.

I don't see the point
For some reason I still do a 25 minute drive down to Costco jacked up on the preconceptive ideas of bulk, cheap, American warehouse shopping where deals are waiting everywhere! I will arrive and the following will happen.
Park car. I immediately become overwhelmed by shame as I see other shoppers. Am I one of these people? Are the dystopian futures painted in Wall-E and Idiocracy prophetic? Never mind. We're all without dignity here and I'm on a mission to get something I'm not sure they even have because there's no online catalogue. Let's d...Read more
o this. I flash my membership card to prove my stupidity, "This guy passed the $60 test. Let his dumb posterior in." There's no order to the madness; I just remember from last time. Pet food is near women's underwear and watering cans are in poultry. Going through the I.T. and home entertainment sections, it starts to flood back to me; this place is not cheap at all. Why do I keep thinking it is and come back? Ah, here we go- oh, they don't have what I want... Well I'm here now, I may as well have a look around, right? Twenty minutes later I snap to and there's a giant stuffed bunny, two litres of hot sauce, 36 pairs of socks, and a bucket of fetta cheese in my very accommodating trolley. It looks like I'm preparing to make a very sepcialised adult film and this is $220 on stuff I don't even need.. I have to get out of here.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Not worth the membership
Buying a few items in bulk will save you a few dollars but spending $60 on a yearly membership is not worth the card it's printed on. The customer service is poor when it's available. The checkout staff are rude & push you through as if you should know how they operate already. They don't allow split tender which makes paying large amounts difficult unless you have a lot of money. Lots of taste testing in store is great but creates a lot of stop traffic with such large shopping trolleys. Go with a friend to see what's there for interest sake on...Read more
ly but don't bother getting membership. The fuel is a little cheaper by a few cents but you have to pre-pay & self serve, too bad if your tank can't fill up the pre paid $40, you just loose it! We won't be renewing after our year which is nearly up. Specials at Woolworths & Coles are often cheaper & Aldi brand is equal to Kirkland. Nothing special about Costco! Costco is great, take the time to understand it.
My partner and I first went as "guests" of members.
I have read other reviews here criticizing Costco for not allowing you in if you are not a member.
You cant go to an RSL unless you are a member, you cant go to a dealers auction unless you are a licensed dealer.
Fair. Its the store policy, get over it.
Costco offer genuine savings.
You usually have to buy a larger quantity than you would in a regular supermarket.
For staples that are non perishables, household cleaning items etc it is a good way to save.
Sometimes you see the effect of buying sweets and potato chips in bulk on the customers.
Know what you want before you go, make a list and stock up.

Can't believe the negative nonsense written about Costco on here
An Australian having been a Costco member/customer for about 18 years in the US, plus shopped in all stores on the Australian East Coast since they opened here & a few in the UK I can't speak highly enough of anything about Costco.
Just love the place, except for the mostly long queues waiting @ all the fully manned checkouts.
With all the negatives one sees on this site, WHY the full trolleys & long checkout queues?
Costco must be doing something right!
Return policy can't be beaten.

So glad it's finally in Australia
Have been to Costco North Lakes twice now, as well as several times in Japan and the U.S. The customer service has been efficient every time, and the employees were friendly and helpful. Our membership cards from Japan were fine for entering the store, but didn't have the magnetic strip so we couldn't use them for petrol. No problem, though - the employee used a store card so we could fill up the car. Yes, the membership price is high, but that's where their profit is. Also, you will make that back with the savings you get your first two or thr...Read more
ee trips there. The meat, fruit and veg, cheese and dairy, are top quality. The fish is beautiful! Salmon, trout, snapper, raw oysters - all beautifully fresh and priced less than anywhere else. We live on the south side and are hoping they will open a store closer to us, but until then, we will continue making a trip to North Lakes every couple of months.Similar opinion? As expected
Terrible experience, poor layout, inferior products and product choice with little to bring someone back. Fuel was more expensive than at other stations (without having to pay $60 for the privilege).

Went for the Wagyu
I have bought Wagyu at Costco Northlakes before and it was acceptable. This time, June 2015 there was only one whole piece left for selection. The level of fat ration on the outside of the piece was one third. Totally unacceptable. Have sent them an email and pic. but doubt whether I will get a response..
