Very interesting
A day out at the local Costco was very interesting. It was like the old Campbell's Cash & Carry stores we had to recent although, on a larger scale.
Cant say I'll go back as I don't want to buy 6 jars of coffee when I've never seen or heard of the brand and the same applies to nearly everything.
No complaints as we need stores that offer a different shopping experience.

Membership
My mum brought a membership for my boyfriend for Christmas and now he’s my ex boyfriend. They will not refund the money or change it into my name even tho he’s has not collected the card yet. What a waste of money!!! The staff there are useless. Head office are useless also. I will not recommend Costco at all. The staff are rude and not helpful.

Returns Policy beware
Wanted to return an item because it was not working. I was told by the lady in the Returns Counter that I had to ring manufacturer first before i get a refund. When I told her that the costco website says otherwise she said there is no costco aus website. When i showed her the costco.com.au website, she said “we have nothing to do with that website”
There are no words to describe the frustration & disappointment.

Very Disappointed
I went to buy a printer and lawn mower and maybe a computer. I have been looking at Costco in the USA on line they have massive varieties of these products. So we joined the Aussie one.
We were pretty excited when after two and quarter hours drive they had one lawn mower to choose from and two printers all just nasty nasty junk. On top of this the prices were the same as retail at JB Hifi and Harvey Norman and Bunnings. I know because I have checked them out. I spoke to a sort of manager in the store and asked why the prices were so dear and...Read more
we had so little to choose from in electronics and gardening. This is the answers I got, “because our wages in Australia are more so they price a accordingly, we are never going to give you what America has in Australia because of the costs and regulations here and our high wages. Sieting the average wage is $7.10 US hour. “ She mentioned that Coles and Woolworths have a duopoly here and they control a lot of things in Australia. So once again Australians pay through the nose. It’s great if you want to stock up on tins of stuff and junk food, spices etc. However the fruit and veg are on par with everyone else. Some food items are very reasonable, but you have to know your prices and don’t get sucked in. The clothes they sell is the same junk you see in Big W, target and Kmart. They are defiantly not wholesale prices on most items. We also don’t have the ability to look at products on line before going to the store, if you are in America this option is avalible however we don’t get that luxury either. Extremely disappointed.

Awesome awesome awesome
What’s not to love! It’s awesome! Just wish there was a Gold Coast location. Closest thing to American products that we can find. Yes some things are no cheaper than in other supermarkets, but most are, and the range of products are much different and better quality than others u find in our ‘normal’ supermarkets. Food court is great as well. Cheap and great size portions. Fill up before u shop.

Very high quality food and products
We head out to Costco about once every two weeks for a couple of essentials:
+Brilliantly trimmed lamb chops
+Mix of beef steaks
+Fresh Coconuts
+Various chocolates and treats
+Bread
+Soft Drinks
++Lots of free samples
+A slice of pizza or two (of the massive pizza).
Overall, for the quality and quantity that you get for the money, Costco is a fantastic experience. The membership paid itself in the second week when we bought a car battery. They also have car tyres at around 20% off on average.

Costco is amazing!!
Membership is so worth it! I am a first year member and even though I live 40 mins away, I would go twice a month. I have saved heaps by buying in bulk and love the products that you can’t get anywhere else.

Amazing value & amazing staff
Amazing staff always smiling and happy to help in any way they can. Competitive pricing often lower than the big retailers (bearing in mind its bulk buying). Signature brand is of a great quality and in some cases our preferred brand!

Love costco and great savings
We bulk buy and recently got 10 tubs of best foods mayo @ $7.49 each, when we would normally pay $20-25 a tub!
The savings speak for them selves the membership allows us these great prices and shopping here 10 to 12 times a year even with the $60 membership fee still saves us big time.

Always brilliant... but there are always people who have a complaint
Costco is not a store, it is a club. That is the biggest thing that people need to remember. It's not like Coles/Woolies/Harvey Norman. It is not open to the public, it is open to members. There are clear rules regarding that (like the member has to pay) which is clearly stated on their website at
"https://www.costco.com.au/frequently-asked-questions#20-Can I bring guests to Costco?"
You need a membership to enter, and that membership is guaranteed. If you want to go in, buy the membership. If you feel that it's not for you, then yo...Read more
u go to the member counter and advise them that you want to cancel because it's not for you. They will refund your membership fee in full (even if you have a trolley full of goods you just purchased) Some things might be more expensive but the quality I have found on everything I have purchased to be exceptional. Every year our first shop at Costco more than easily recoups the cost of the membership. Heck, the fuel savings alone does that in a couple trips. If someone's not a member and on ieatwords complaining, they shouldn't be. It's not being rude or obnoxious. It's a club for the members and anyone can become a member. If you don't like that, it's fine but complaining that you don't want to follow rules, that's not fine.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Poor policy.
Waiting in a long line to get through the check out is one thing and we do so without complaint, but waiting in another queue to get out the door is another. There general policy is : 'To ensure that all members are correctly charged for the merchandise purchased, all receipts and merchandise will be inspected as you leave the warehouse.' What a load of rubbish. Not once have I seen an employee check all the items in a trolley against the items on a receipt but they do keep everyone waiting. What gets me is the long queue and only 1 person...Read more

Red Raw Roast Chicken
Have been members for a couple of years and shop there sporadically for mainly food items. Today I bought a roast chicken amongst other items. the problem with the chicken is it is not cooked at all on the inside. Have just poured into a bowl about three cups of red, bloody water from the container it was in. Have tried calling at 6.00pm but nobody answers. I have driven 40kms to Costco and really don't feel inclined to go back there ever again with no one even manning phones to report this health hazard

Unhappy won't go back anymore
We had received a terrible and rude service from a male staff who promotes curry powder/paste at north lakes today, can't believe people like this one can work in the retail? I've seen once only- the first time of my life in nearly 40ys!!

Warranty proven
We bought a high end Viera TV and it had a problem 2 years in. They refunded full purchase price. We just went into the store and bought a bigger one... Win win because the returned model is now 250$ cheaper. We needed a new one and have now confirmed that thier warranty does apply. instead of pocketing the cash we re-invested knowing that they are good to deal with.

Best buy for bulk purchases
I may pay a little more for some products at Costco but it's well worth it considering there return policies. Good quality meats at great prices mean shopping for big family BBQs is easy.

More expensive at northlakes
I had my membership refunded within an hour of purchase. Reason being almost everything is more expensive than Coles, chemists and the quality looked like crap.
Before going we had priced items throughout the shopping center to compare. This is what we found.
Whilst waiting for membership we witnessed six people returning products and memberships and four people returning just memberships
Their pantene shampoo and conditioner was $6 more expensive than at Priceline chemist.
The bulk dog food I buy was priced at $38 for 20kg when at Wool...Read more

Careful buying Christmas decorations
I puchased The handprinted glass candle holders for my Christmas table they looked as beautiful as on the box except they were very dusty from the packaging, so I thought I would rinse the dust off. Big mistake because the colour and glitter washes off. So don't think to have sparkling glass on your centerpiece, because you can't rinse them let alone wash them. What a waste of time and money. Good going Costco......

Rude Customer Service woman at North Lakes
On 18/12/2016, I went to Costco North Lakes to buy some groceries. As I didn't bother to go upstairs to get my membership card, so I took my wife's card with me to the store. Apparently, the cashier didn't accept the card because my wife didn't present there. That was understandable, but to make sure they still checked with a woman named [name removed]. She asked me if I had any document with me, but unfortunately, I didn't have any because I forgot the wallet at home. That was alright because I had expected that in the worst case I wouldn't pu...Read more
rchase the stuff. Unexpectedly, [name removed] said she would keep my credit card my wife's membership card!!! Only after a heated exchange, she would return my cards. I remember she insisted that she wanted to keep my cards. I had to ask her if she was a police or something several minutes before the cards were returned. Next, I returned home and get my membership card back to the store and tell her that what she did was wrong. The next thing she said to me that she wouldn't care what I did or would do, even when I said to her that I would write a review. Probably [name removed] should have gone a customer relationship class first before she is in charge of resolving customer's issues. That was disgusting to act like "we don't need you as customers". That was totally wrong.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

No longer worth joining.
As from Jan. 1st. there will be mandated ethanol in petrol in QLD. You can still sell regular 91 octane unleaded as long as you sell ethanol blended as well. Not only will Costco not sell regular unleaded, they don't even sell 95 octane either. The only non-ethanol petrol they will sell after Jan. 1st. is 98 octane, 17c per litre per litre more expensive. My car does not need even 95 octane, let alone 98 octane, and cannot use ethanol blended petrol. This is obviously a cost saving decision by Costco, unwilling to install extra bowsers to cater for those who only need 91 octane. Just to rub salt into the wound, you have to pay $60 per year to buy petrol at a more expensive price than you can get elsewhere. My advice: Don't bother.

Unbelievably Costco's brand new facility at Bundamba does not sell unleaded petrol without ethanol either!! Still, and likely to always be the only one not to do so, (I still haven't found any others)... Read more

Since writing this review 8 months ago, I have not found a single Service Station in the Brisbane area that does not sell standard 91 octane unleaded petrol, Costco is the only one.
